@RushfanUK i agree. I've liked Zep since I was young in the middle 70s. Overhearing my older brothers play their albums. I always like the drumming in Rock and Roll and Stairway to Heaven. Yet, I never knew or thought of Bonham as the greatest until I started watching these RUclips top 10 videos about a decade ago. His drumming just doesn't generally catch my ear on most Zep songs. Hard to argue with this list, and I appreciate that you shared your methodology. Some will argue for days and days about deserving drummers who didn't make this list, but it says a lot about classic rock (and classic rock fans, I guess) that the list is comprised solely of white men, who are either British or American. Tony Williams is a great drummer!
At least Cesar Zuiderwijk had been listed, still a powerhouse these days at a age of 76.
To me this list refers more to the fame these drummers gained during their careers. All those rockstar magazines haven’t actually analyzed the ability to hold the tempo and to perform live steadily without metronome in the ear.
Great list! I would add Nick Menza and Steve 'Machine Gun' Smith as well 👍
I agree, Nick Menza and Steve Smith are amazing and made history. Have you heard Vital Tech Tones with Steve Smith, Scott Henderson and Victor Wooten? Thanks for commenting!
@@BackingTrackCenter I have not, but I will be picking that up. I have all of Steve's Vital Information releases, which are all excellent.
Man, you're gonna love this sound. Look for volume 1.
Eric Carr was always underrated. Never taken seriously because he was in Kiss.
Ginger Baker is a JAZZ drummer!
@@RSMGsndchannel Cream is a jazz band ?
Hi. I voted 4 more times. Hopefully that will help in getting a great repensentaion of players from across time, and styles.
I knew who was in first place before watching the video. Matter of fact I knew that John Bonham was the best after have listened to Moby Dick, Rip John.
Definitely, "Moby Dick" is one of the greatest showcases of Bonham's drumming skills. And the way he improvised live was out of this world. Thanks for commenting!
Gavin Harrison
Here's a couple you missed along the way:
Rick Allen of Def Leppard, and Matt Sorum of Guns, and Roses/Velvet Revolver.
But Loulou Tielman is the most underrated of'em all. Nice that you included him.
Also there was Rod d'Ath.
Loulou Tielman truly has a unique talent, too bad he doesn't always get the credit he deserves. Rod d’Ath is another amazing name. Thanks for commenting!
Frank Beard from ZZ Top is underrated. He mixes it up on most of their songs (except the last album).
Earl Palmer, Hal Blaine, Jim Keltner, Jim Gordon
Good selection I aspire to all these guys except Dave grohl
These types of lists and comparisons are by definition a fool's errand. Take it for entertainment value, only. You might enjoy it.
👍
Chester Thompson com o Genesis e Phil Collins, nos shows ao vivo.Um baterista e percursionista nota mil.
Scott Rockenfeld, Queensryche...Barrie Barlow, Jethro Tull
But you remember something this is all subjective it is not in stone
👍👍
Finally somebody recognized Animal
Charlie Watts will always be Nr.1
RIP Hero
Phil Collins mentioned? Carl Palmer mentioned? Gavin Harrison? And Dave Grohl in list?
👍👍
Danny Serafine of Chicago was one of the best drummers of all time.
Ian Paice, Cozy Powell, Barrymore Barlow
What about Animal from the Muppets?
The greatest drummer in history, he even went head to head with the legendary Buddy Rich! 🥁🤩
Buddy Rich was truly one of the greats, but was a snooty sob.
May be Phil "the animal" Taylor. 🤘
@madwolf5964 Now, don't go upsetting all the people who thought Animal really was the drummer (like me).
😂😂
Gavin Harrison - Simon Philips - Marco Minnemann
SSSUUUPPPEEERRR - 🥁🎸🎙️🎧🎩👍👍👍🚀
Glad to see Tommy ramone made it in there…he wa
S a legend in making other drummers know they can be in a band and not have to play like pert..also did Hal Blaine make it
I agree! Tommy Ramone proved that less is more and inspired so many. As for Hal Blaine, he didn’t make the main list, but he’s undoubtedly a legend. Thanks for commenting!
Terry Bozzio ( Zappa in New York,The Black Page).
You got Stewart Copeland & Mitch Mitchell in the wrong places. They should be 1st & 2nd.
Cozy powell,vinnie appice,Lars,menza
I'd like to throw in an Honorable Mention to a guy named QUINTON KUFAL. Search "Chöpper" and "Phase". Then watch his SEVEN chaper series called "The Vengeance". Its a dark themed comic book "noir", with inspiration from Batman.
I am amazed that Albert Bouchard isn't even an honorable mention. Just listen to The Red and the Black from Blue Oyster Cult's Tyranny and Mutation album and you'll understand my shock and surprise.
Los buenos bateristas se ven en los temas que interpretan y las bandas que integran y estás bandas se convierten en leyenda. No importan tanto los solos y hacer piruetas
Buddy Rich?
No rich? Or krupa?
Buddy Rich was a great drummer, but he's more associated with jazz than rock, which is why he didn't make the list. Thanks for commenting!
Ian paice has always been underrated 😭
ginger baker is my number 1
