As an owner of a GSD for 14 years RIP everything you have said is very true to the fact. Consider the flaws of a German Shepherd the memories are ❤️ irriplaceable and I would do it all over again. Lucy is a fine example of a perfect 💓 GSD. Sending you lots of love Lucy and you sir stay safe from the great state of south Texas USA.
I was born with these buggers, and had them through all of my years. Everything said here is SO true. However, live with the outlined challenges, and you really DO have the best friend. I correct that. BEST FAMILY MEMBER. Just remember, they're not robots or toys. Worst thing about having a GSD in your life ? (or any dog) The goodbye.
My ole lady was bit when she was younger by a GS. I found one that was abused and wanted him but she was kinda skeptical about it. But once we showed up to look at Duke she was kinda scared but when he walked up and put his head on her lap it was over. He has be a great addition to out family and has come along way in the last 3 months. There's no doubt he wld protect the family at all cost. He's a really good dog.

Fantastic video and gorgeous dog! If you don't mind me asking how did you get Lucy to focus on you and respond so quick to commands? I have a German Shepherd too, and I'd love to hone his skills but I'm not sure how, truthfully
You are so kind, thank you. With Lucy and in the early days I made her earn her dinner so there was no free food. You want dinner? You work for it. Then I did the same thing with tug toys and balls. She is not allowed a tug or a ball unless she works for it. At the start it was a lot of work and some times didn't want to do it after a long day of work but truly so worth putting that effort in. I till make her work for dinner but now its just a few commands then she gets the whole thing. But at the start I would spend and hour training and giving her food piece by piece. 😊
Wow... amazing work in training ... we are trying to work with ours ... she’s German shepherd as well ...her names Mia ...she’ll turn 1 in June .. and thanks for tips ... nice videos
Chlo Girl there are puppy socialization classes, search them up and you can find a few near your area. I suggest calling whoever you can and taking him/her on a walk and try to find whoever you can. Take em to stores and have basic obedience down as soon as you can. You’ll do great!
Hi did you train Lucy yourself or did you go to a obedience school. I recently got a German Shepard puppy and admire the bond you both have would wanna have that connection with my new puppy. Thank you
Hey my friend. I had a friend of mine show me the ropes on dog training a gsd. He was a military dog trainer and is a world of knowledge. I then applied his help to Lucy and I and we just practiced. I think getting a good trainer is worth its weight in gold. It will help you form that real bond. Keep me posted on your journey
Raised with a German shepherd since I was born I don’t want a different breed my German pup since since I was 5 died last year and we are prepping to get a new pup in the fall:))))
Also she was suuuuuper skinny… too skinny but she lived 12 years and never had hip problems. She was always a picky eater which made it had to feed her regularly
What do you think about wearing the same clothes while training? Are our clothes a visual variable in training? Just got an eight week old and I'm doing my best 😂😅
Hi Lucy, We are your new admirers from Sydney west. We are seriously looking for top GSD breeder in Sydney and any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick

Hey, If its a off lead park and you have complete control over her you can tell them to minf there own business and if they are unconformable they can leave. If you dont have 100% control just pop her on the lead and give those people some space. We have had it as well, dont worry. I tell alot of people to get F'd lol
@@Lucythegermanshepherd thank you so much for the response!! With regards to my GSD I have complete control over her on and off lead but the people who are not comfortable with her being in the same park are often bigger than me and I get a bit intimidated and then we leave but I find it not really fair because she is a big dog and normally bigger than the others and I have to keep leaving the parks

I just go to the dog park.
{ JMM } the parks were closed when I asked. That is why I asked.
Check to see if the boarding places in your area are open. Most of them do "doggy daycare" in 4 hour blocks.
