+moiraine_damodred I just watched the movie and I loved it I felt like one of the reporters waiting for the story yo be published and when the cars get out with the newspapers I felt finally the story is going to see the light and of course the acting was 100% authentic
moiraine_damodred yeah the same Academy criticized for lack of diversity, etc. Golden Globes gave REVENANT Best Dramatic Pic. Academy's selection makes one pause and think. Odd that it wins best pix with ONLY ONE other win--for screenplay.
Survivor here. I've seen Spotlight several times now and I'm currently reading the book. It's such an incredible story of this reporting team. They patiently gathered all the evidence and pulled off the biggest "Check Mate" against the most powerful religion in the world. In the process, they successfully released countless victims from years of shame and silence. They gave all of us a voice to be heard so that justice may some day come to fruition.
Naresh Saklecha he cares a lot about people he does great work for charity and most recent standing rock. Investigative journalism is a dying sadly. Nice to see folk are willing to stand up and speak truth.
you must watch this. its about exposing the truth and not about sexual abuse or gratifing urges. its about the real danger of not telling. excellent movie.
"boys are the most easily victimized" - what a powerful line. having raised several children and worked with several families as a health educator, it amazes me how many new and/or inexperienced parents or people voice so much more concern for raising girls. i wish more people knew how much more vulnerable boys are in our society; this idea is almost incomprehensible for a lot of people. i'm so happy to hear how MR pointed this out so eloquently in this interview. thank you MR !!!
My friend who generally likes only action movies and horror loved this. She said it was somehow more interesting than wall to wall action. She at one time made a fist, and said this was the first time a movie made her physically angry. Watch this movie, everyone.
Same here I'm only into action and horror but I loved this. I just watched it for first time on HBO like an hour ago and been researching about it since then. It made me cry I was angry!! Especially seeing all those places in the end Jesus christ. But the acting was extraordinary and I'm so glad this came out and I WISH I saw it sooner !! Wish I saw it the day it came eout
Thank You CBS, keeping the spotlight on the Church. It's still business as usual. If not for survivors and The Boston Globe Spotlight, there'd be far more victims. Michael Rezendes was the point-man that Mark Ruffalo played very well. I saw this movie four times, it's that great of a movie.
Watch the documentary deliver us from evil. It includes the priest who abused children and is retired to Ireland. He actually tells his own story. It's a very raw and chilling thing to view.
I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT THE MALE ANCHOR THAT IS COMMENTING ABOUT SEX ABUSE IS AN ABUSER HIMSELF... THIS IS JUST SHAMEFUL... HOW MANY HAVE HAD TO LIVE WITH PAIN AND TRAUMA BECAUSE OF ALL THE CORRUPTS AND DISGUSTING GROUPS OF PEOPLE WITH NO MORAL STANDINGS...
In a way though the film Spotlight actually started the rumblings of the #MeToo movement. It was filmed right when Bill Cosby was being accused again. With people coming out about the RCC abuse people started coming out in Hollywood about other abuse.
I just raced to my recliner found this and started it. . .watching it. . .watching. . .watching. . .watching. . .finished it. (Comments? Well, I'd rather reserve my comments at this time, ok? Thank you.)
Often actors are more grand and impressive in roles of real life people but not the case with these reporters. They are the gripping real deal. Watch any interview with any of these reporters and you will be even more impressed with them than their actor counterparts in the film-- and that’s saying something given the actors.
It’s still on going to this day 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 this movie needs to be played once a month at least to keep these predators on watch and caught and out in jail!!
oh my Rezendes' speaking cadence was copied almost exactly beat for beat by Ruffalo - quick syllables, quick phrasing, meaningful pauses but again, not too long
after hearing mike speak i gotta say, Marl Ruffalo's impersonation of hin was pretty off...he overdid the lisp/speech inlwdimwnt thibg way too much....was distracting at sone pts unnecessaryily distracting
SBakerNYC i know this comment was from 2 years ago but since some people might read it, i disagree. This story was from 2000, so mark copied mike’s hairstyle from that era and im pretty sure he asked around mike’s colleagues about what mike’s really like when he was younger. I also read somewhere that mark would ask mike to read his every line to make sure that it sounded right. This is my humble opinion, anyway
it wasn't that great. The source material was important, and the performances were engaging and thus the film merits viewing, but it is not a great film by any stretch. But while the topic is hot, let's remember that a Catholic newspaper reported on this in 1985 and was ignored, and there is a much more engaging, incredible story out there about a group called the Legion of Christ. You want to take down scams posing as religion, that is ground zero, and the material is so crazy you couldn't make it up.
I thought it was a really good and important film. But real credit goes to the spotlight team. I'm sure they were threatened during their investigation.
If you haven't see this film get up from where you're sitting and go right this very second.
incredible.

Mark Ruffalo's performance was brilliant !!

I thought so as well

I recently had the opportunity to meet and listen to Mike at a Q&A. He's such an incredible guy.
One of the best movies of the decade. Its so unnoticed.
One of my favorite films growing up was All the President’s Men and Spotlight is now a favorite as well
So proud of Mr. Ruffalo for being straight up👍🏼👍🏼
I'm a Roman Catholic and I have watched this amazing movie.
Charlie rose talking about sexual abuse 😂😂
haha, he cant see the future
I don't think he invoked gawd to touch minors.
Spotlight is how journalism should be.
One of the best movies I have ever seen in my life, and I see a lot! Bravo! Thanks for posting this interview!

I like Rezendes' voice.
Just watched the movie again and it was incredible. But, now it is bizarre hearing Charlie Rose talk about sex abuse in this way...

funny to see Charlie Rose in this
charlie rose talking about abuse.... #weird
haha, he cant see the future
Farrel Rafi The abuse he committed was already in his past at this point... but sure thing, fella.
1:04 Mark himself impressed by his act😂😂😂
🤣
Ruffalo did an excellent job with mimicking his mannerisms in the movie.
No movie has ever changed my beliefs until spotlight. This is the only movie to make me sit down and question my faith
A wonderful movie, I have watched it twice and will watch it again.
1:02 I thought the video was buffering
Waiting for February 10 here in the Philippines. I am excited.
+Aubrey Bulacan You'll love it. It's a brilliant movie.
The trailer is already giving me chills. Hoho.. :)
thr cbcp is allowing it?
Yep. And frankly, on the day itself, there were only 4 of us watching the film. But now it has been back to the cinemas due to its Oscar win. :D
What an excellent movie

I just watched this last night in Netflix. Incredible!!

O, I missed the America of 8 years ago. They were still able to call out evil, and now they are just celebrating it
I'll pretend that wink was for me, Mark ;)
don't care much for the actor ruffalo BUT his performance was stellar in the movie
oh my Rezendes' speaking cadence was copied almost exactly beat for beat by Ruffalo - quick syllables, quick phrasing, meaningful pauses but again, not too long
Cool interview
I have a story With the LDS church case of my molester never compensated
it's on Netflix, great film
I always forget Mark Ruffalo is a crime victim himself his brother was murdered
after hearing mike speak i gotta say, Marl Ruffalo's impersonation of hin was pretty off...he overdid the lisp/speech inlwdimwnt thibg way too much....was distracting at sone pts unnecessaryily distracting

I never was taught priests are manifestations of God. I wasn't even made to attend church
