- In the movie Spotlight, the real tale of the Boston globe team that uncovered and published the story of child molestation in the Boston priesthood is told and the real journalists whose story is told are (in alphabetical order): Marty Baron, Ben Bradlee Jr., Matt Carroll, Sacha Pfeiffer, Mike Rezendes, and Walter 'Robby' Robinson. The six of them spoke to David Poland about the effort behind the story and how it is to be turned into movie characters.

@@sarcasticallyrearranged Sarcasm? If not, try 'rearranged' brain glasses. It's the resemblance in character, personality, body mannerisms, voice, and mindset that the actors nailed. Even similarities in physical appearances are there.

This is my favorite movie of all time. I’ve watched it over and over again over the years - geez, at least 100 times. I come from a background of organized religion, and I can resonate with almost everything in this movie. And as much as it’s painful to watch and hear about the abuse, it really helps to know that there are people out there that truly care. And these journalists really really cared! The casting was 100% on point, honestly it couldn’t have been better. Bravo 👏🏽👏🏽 to everyone that participated in making this film, but more so to Marty Baron for pushing a “follow” to the Spotlight team. We all appreciate the team for bringing this story to the public eye with such passion, emotion and empathy. ❤

Looking at Mike Rezendes I just realised how great a job Mark Ruffalo did in portraying him. The mannerisms and talking speed and everything else - Ruffalo transferred all of them into his performamce. Wow.

Just watched the movie. One of the best true-story-based movies ever. The most fascinating thing about this well crafted portray is its focus on how intense and fluid the whole investigation and the entire publishing process was. Watching this interview I can literally match these people with their movie characters. A MUST WATCH for everyone.
Mark Ruffalo even nailed the side lip thing! wow so amazing they all matched these people even the voices.
He actually didn’t have to nail the side lip thing because he already has that going on due to a prior health condition. You can look it up. He did a phenomenal job and they casted the perfect person for this role!

They are all so thoughtful and intelligent, what a great group interview.
After watching this, it's clear that the most important factor of the success of the investigation was the human beings involved, the human factor, the synergy, respect and generosity of spirit between these folks are evident. Now as much as I loved the movie, and I did and the incredible acting, each one of real journalists are unique characters and the real "heroes". Thoughtful and intelligent are great words to describe them .

Hollywood screenplays are usually structured so that the most cinematically exciting moments are at the half-way mark. At the half-way mark in SPOTLIGHT they decide to do a reverse look-up of Priest's histories in the Catholic Church publications. That they managed to make this exciting and dramatic is genius.
Loved the movie and looked up all of the real people behind the movie immediately after watching. I have no words for the admiration I feel for people that do this. Thank you.
Wow, I had never seen the real-life Matt Carroll before - I don't think people talked enough about how spot-on the casting of Brian d'Arcy James was for him!
I watched this wonderful movie a while ago and recently saw again on HBO MAX. When HBO MAX removed it 😡😡🤬 I was just beside myself … so I bought it digital through RUclips👍👍👍
I watch it every day, sometimes numerous times. I watched it with sound, without sound and just listening. It is Fabulous, moving and emotional watching so many of my favorite actors pull brilliance together. But now, to hear from the actual reporters involved … WOW! Just WOW 👍👍❤️❤️❤️ What I found really cool was the cameo of Sasha and Mike at the baseball game 👍👍👍

The actors did a phenomenal job! And these people are absolutely phenomenal... excellent interview!!
As a former Catholic in a very small town, the only sexual activity the priest was suspected of was with other women! THANK GOD!! I will forever be stunned at the fact that this activity was protected by a society that claims to have come out of the Dark Ages! This behavior would not be tolerated in any other society!! WTF?? As Garabedian said, "It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a village to abuse one", speaks to the support this most horrendous crime of all, the wholesale rape of children, had among Catholics and those in positions to stop it, instead covered it up all along the way! Just stunning!!

Anything but true in the case of Liev Schreiber and Mark Ruffalo. So, speak for yourselves. Schreiber and Ruffalo are two of the most scrupulously intelligent, articulate, and insightful of actors (on both screen and stage). Those attributes are nearly non-existent in most screen actors. Unlike solid journalists, clearly, you haven't done your homework regarding interviews with those two actors. The smart and well-spoken think, and think first, before opening their mouths.
what an amazing fantastic Group of people. All well spoken, and it's so fantasic to hear and see them be so passionate about this subject still, and still wanna talk about it. If only we had more journalists like them. And am i the only one WHO thought the casting of the actors for the movie, not only their personalities but also looks were spot on?
What a wonderful group of people. A credit to their trade. If all journalists were like this and if more papers were as serious minded as the Globe, the trade would not be held in the low esteem that it sometimes is.

You can see and hear how well leiv Schreiber did portraying martys excellent leadership and ability to clearly look at basic malpractices and ask questions that others aren't willing to ask. He politely to the interviewers question says i didnt sharpen these guys, i just came in and got them to look at a story that i thought was worth looking into. He doesn't take any credit and defaults to Robby(team player coach) to give the answer, its clear why the globe brought him in. His leadership mixed with his humility, and being an outsider was the perfect match for this team and what he helped them accomplish. He literally has the same presence in the room u just feel his words mean so much when he speaks calmly and in a few words. Reminds me of "talk softly and carry a big stick"

Not all priests are the same. Churches are not always privvy to what occurrs - if and when it does. Have viewed the trailer and I think the movie would be very powerful, a must see and think everyone should view it. Everyone needs to be there for children and young people and speak up when you become aware a child is at risk and speak out.

The thing is: the higher-ups in the Catholic Church *knew* what was going on, and they chose to cover it up. Instead of protecting the children, they chose to protect the predators. And they did all of this, "in the name of God," which is among the worst forms of blasphemy.
What they did is wrong on so many levels, and I'm glad they were exposed for the wolves in sheep's clothing that they are. The people who committed these acts against children should be locked up for life, and so should the people who protected the predators.

If the priests are supposed to absolve you of your sin... and yet the priest is the one molesting you then you would feel helpless and it would be way worse than in Protestantism which does not have confessional on that order. I just got that. Yikes! No wonder so many were able to be abused in the RCC and remained silent for so long. That is heartbreaking.
