Thanks for this video prologuedrivers forum shared it, I did not occur to me to complain to nhtsa so thanks, I figured Honda dealers would be informing Honda about this. My issues started right after taking delivery: rear camera failed. Clicking/clonking when taking 90 degree turn. Rear braking mitigation safety system freaked us out when it suddenly stopped the car in mid backup with nothing around (turned that off). I think what is frustrating is this is a pretty sweet car, and very likeable. Adam keep the good info coming and cracking the whip.

TIL the value of properly reporting a recall to NHTSA, instead of just bitching about it on Reddit. Even as a car enthusiast this advice just isn't known! This doesn't just apply to just the Prologue, but all vehicles.

Useful video - I didn't know reporting directly to NHTSA was a thing. My last car was a Ford and overall it was decent except for Sync 3 which sucked - constantly froze & needed to be rebooted. I would have reported Sync 3 had I known about this.

Thank you so much for this video! We bought my prologue in November when the deals were way too good to resist and in fact so good that we bought a second one later that month for my wife. These cars were updates on our 12-year-old Honda Accord and Honda Odyssey and we're really enjoying them but we've run into the backup problem suddenly grabbing the brakes and also the problem with very poor connectivity through Honda link to the vehicle. My next stop is the NHTSA website. 😊

I am doing this today. Syracuse NY Honda dealer said my Prologue with 300 miles and clicking while turning is normal according to the manufacturer. Test drove two off his lot and they both did it as well. I will include documentation from the dealership. I also get the Remote command failed all the time. I was getting the error in the dealership as I was picking up my prologue, they shrugged their shoulders. LOL

I had the same problem with the Honda link app and called Honda directly. They stated if using an android phone you need to uninstall the app and re-download it. I did just that and it's worked flawlessly.

Yep, I made a sharp turn yesterday, and yep heard the noise. Definitely concerning.
I'm on the road right now traveling, going to look for a place where I can, do some large circles to make sure it's a left or right-hand turn. Then fill out the report that you have stated in your video.

Another great video!! My Prologue has not had the clicking problem (yet), but you never know. The Honda Link is glitchy but I always think they will update it. And there are other things I’m on the lookout for. Like you said very wisely, go through the NHTSA and file complaints. We all have to, otherwise nothing will get fixed. I am definitely going to if something does.

is there a reference on what the cv joint clicking sound like to keep an ear out? i have a 24 prologue tour and thankfully at 6k miles its been okay besides one random entire car infotainment fully reset while driving. also thank you for so many info packed vids on the prologue, very helpful

BRUH, LOL. Thank you for explaining how submitting reports to NHTSA can help getting manufacturers defects, etc eventually fixed. I submitted a report about these braking/cruise control nannies. They don't work very well so I ended up turning off the braking component. It only does the alerts now. WAY TOO SENSITIVE. I have the 24 Prologue Elite.

I’ve had this issue since my 2023 Bolt EUV. Funny that its cousin, prologue has the same issue.
@@junpark3088 it’s not exactly the same, but the front ends of these vehicles are obviously not being reinforced or built with strong enough parts. I hope you are able to resolve this issue
Okay, gosh, I'll do the complaints! It's gonna take forever with the laundry list of them I have for this car...
My complaint took 8 minutes. And I was recording commentary and instructions in real time for the video. You can report multiple issues in one complaint.
Yeah this needs to be said that people need to file a complaint with NHSTA. I am starting to think about some of the small issues that I have identified with my Ioniq 5 with backup sensors and ADAS with its terrible performance steering through curves enough so where it over corrects into the next lane or goes over the lines.
The ADAS system in Hyundai/Kia is overall very good, but is also my biggest complaint because it’s such a challenge to disable. Good luck with yours, they are absolutely wonderful cars
I thankfully haven't had the issue with the cracking noise. Granted my Prologue still has less than a thousand miles on it. I have had the issue where the car just randomly does the emergency braking when in reverse and the steering wheel won't return to center. I just made a nhtsa complaint because of your video.

I didn't know the NHTS required user reporting...
Reporting my Nissan LEAFs "Clunk" noise, which is a "Technical Advisory" that Nissan will "Fix" under warranty.... For power train only, after that you're going to pay for repairs.
This is a defect and is so well known that even Nissan has an advisory out about it.
A car company can issue a recall without NHTSA. But, in the event that they don’t, NHTSA has to step in

We have our Prologue at the dealership for the last week and a half, fixing several issues: the steering has a clicking noise when turning , and the hatchback opening unexpectedly on the highway. I will follow your lead and report it to the NHTSA.
Wow that's concerning the hatchback opens on the highway.
I travel with two dogs in the back and if that happens my dog's fly out. 😢

@ Our dealership just had a Honda representative from National come out and check out the car themselves. Hopefully they’ll get it fixed soon.
one more thing !! I still would buy a Honda Prologue - I love this car... all cars have issues...it just depends how the company handles it...and Honda has been good with us...

With 7 miles on my new vehicle I pulled out from the dealership turning left and then I heard that common click, click pop of the CV Joint. Since then it does it regularly! Filling my Complaint!
Im noticing mine doing it now and it just hit 400 miles and Ive had it since 12/17/24
I'm wondering if so many prologues have this issue if we could fall under the Lemon Law

Mine also literally clicked leaving the dealer when it was brand new with sub 10-miles. I thought that's weird, but didn't think much of it. I'm over 1500 miles now and it's getting worse. It's freezing cold here now, so I wasn't sure if that made it worse - and knowing there is a parts shortage, I was going to wait until spring to get it investigated and replaced. Now I might make an appointment now and file a complaint. Thanks for the push.

My 24 Blazer EV has the same backup over sensitive braking! It will even brake on gravel parking lots! I found that putting it in drive then reverse again will solve the problem for the moment so I’m not stuck in a parking spot! Also I was wondering if you guys have the doors randomly unlock while parked? Thanks for your site!

Also the Cadillac app has the exact same issues as the Honda app. I wonder if they share the app?
Honda Link is different, but it’s my opinion that OnStar is doing the connectivity for the Honda and the Cadillac
Adam, I had a brand new Buick Encore and after 20k it had so many electrical issues the dealer here refused to fix it until the warranty expired after 36k miles. It was all over a piece of tape on a board that was located in a place the engine had to be pulled and they were going to charge me over $1500 until I screamed about it. After I got it fixed I traded it on a Honda Passport. No issues for 3 years. I’ll never own a GM product again and it saddens me that the Prologue and Acura ZDX are GM products. They are NOT THE SAME QUALITY that Honda has in their other vehicles. So I’m looking at other EVs now that can haul two wheelchairs.

Yah, the Honda Link system is frustratingly slow to load. Is it a safety issue? I guess you found a way that is. Sending Google Map destinations to the car is also slow and sometimes just plain doesn’t work.
Yes. It’s not a great app. I would not recommend it to anyone.
I just heard the clicking sound on my driver side CV JOINT every time I make left turns🤦♂️. Only 800miles on 2024 elite prologue
You know what to do.
Just took my prologue touring to the dealership for the clicking noise and they told me my cv joint boot was ripped and axle was broken smh. Started hearing the sound after 5k miles.
Correction* the axle assembly needed o be replaced and axle boot was leaking grease.

While I have not experienced the CV joint issue personally, do you recommend still reporting it as a "known" issue? The Hondalink app is certainly wonky, but I never thought of reporting it.

Just reported mine for hondalink issues, it tells me all the time the cars done charging and its not, tire pressure doesnt display right, unlock doesnt work half the time. Ive used hondalink for years since I had the clarity before this and it has always been trash, but maybe this will help draw some attention. I also reported for wind noise that sounds like the window is cracked open, but its not.

Interesting fact: My 2023 Chevy Bolt EV has an odd knocking sound that occurs normally when accelerating from a stop and sometimes when slowing down rapidly. It's going to be repaired under warranty but... the part seems to be on back order. Is this the same issue?

I have a Prologue and experienced the forward collision turing on by itself as I approached the car in front if ne at a light. It sounded like I got rear ended, was very loud and the stopping was kind of violent Second issue Onstar error message on dash appears on occasion and Onstar light turns red up top (this is kind of annoying but it fixes itself, but occurred multiple times) and lastly the smallest issue is the Skip to next song button on the back/left side if the steering stops working frequently (turning the car completely off, and then back on seems to fix the issue) Overall I'm happy with the car but some.of these issues are annoying.
The next track function on the wheel sometimes doesn’t work for me as well. Same fix. A reboot. Thanks for sharing your experience

@@Aslash304Sorry, it’s a reference to 10mm, a joking reference to a 10mm extended socket on a needed to reset the 12v on GM (not)Ultium cars. It’s from old internet forums related to 9mm vs 10mm.
The video is actually quite helpful, and I am actually filling out a complaint now. Doubt it’ll do any good, but hey! Might as well.

@@Aslash304 No problem. I added my complaint as well. Will do so for the App too. It's been a week in a loaner for the CV issue and parts are backordered. The loaner is costing me over $40 in gas vs me using my Prologue charged by solar panels. We all should get gas cards with gas loaners!
Mine is starting to make the clicking noise when turning. At first it was just left turns but now it is doing it on right and left turns.

I wouldn't really say an app not working is a safety issue. It won't cause an accident, or start the vehicle on fire.
It was an excuse to walk viewers through the process of filing a complaint. It was honest, and complete. Whether or not it is a safety issue is the literal job of NHTSA, and if they deem it not to be, I’m okay with that.
I'm going to get my car checked out next week. If they say that's normal or we can't fix it or whatever what happens if nothing is done does anyone know?

2024 Prologue Touring AWD - had since Jan 1. Had two (potential?) issues so far:
1. Red “splat” through red car indicator light came on after failed scheduled charging session. Using 240 and mobile charger. Seems correlated. Issue ‘cleared’ after a day.
2. Car does not auto hold sometimes even after fully letting off drive pedal…continues to creep forward. One pedal driving set to High. So need to revert to brake pedal. Is this by design?
Anyone experience either of these?
The One pedal driving on certain angles, especially when braking quickly won’t go to hold until it has met certain parameters. Others have also had trouble with the mobile charger. Thanks for sharing your experience!
@@Aslash304 Thanks, Adam! So glad to have found your channel. You are so genuine and it truly shows in the content you create. Makes sense re 1-pedal and it was the case that I was on a decline in the scenario I described above so I should expect to actually use the brake pedal in such cases, or at least be prepared to. Re the red car splat issue, it's unclear what actually happened here. I am going to try the scheduled charging again tonight and see if the situation is correlated - somehow related to the software in the car (scheduling charging) or somehow related to the Honda Mobile Charger. I have NOT had any issues using the Mobile Charger when doing "just plug it in" point-in-time charging.
@@msloss7732 people have definitely seen increased likelihood of errors when scheduling as opposed to not.
I am fearful for Honda. They have made dependable cars for years. Now this joint venture with GM is a mess, And they are now working to join with Nissan, which is currently a joint mess between Nissan, Mitsubishi and Renault. All companies which produce junk. It is like Honda has started to sleep around a lot. Look at what happens to the people who do that.

So is the Prologue really that problematic?
No, but there are a couple common problems that could be easily fixed with a couple recalls

Agree. It was an attempt to be detailed in the complaint and answer all the criteria.
Honda should have never named the car. The prologue they should have named it for what it was and called it the Honda EV compliance or they should have just called it. The Honda equinox EV to make it very obvious that they couldn't be bothered to even come up with a design of their own product and they just paid somebody else for their already existing product. And by the way, for you prologue owners your idiots, you should have just waited for an equinox EV because the equinox EVS are going to be all of the a grade production units that have actually undergone quality control. The prologues are going to be b&c grade production units that will not have gone through quality control and quality issues will only be noticed by owners and this is a problem because the people who go and buy buy the actual Chevrolet equinox EV are going to be the ones who are going to be more likely to have general motors fix this crap without necessarily having to have a recall and again, it is clear and obvious, especially based on all the issues that these prologues have had. That Honda just went as a last-minute thing. Sparked up a deal with general motors to buy these equinox EVS cheap and then sell them under the Honda name of the prologue. Just so that way they can claim they have a Honda branded vehicle in their lineup. That is an electric vehicle to meet the cafe standards. That is the only reason that this car even exists in Honda's lineup.
It’s a Blazer EV, not an equinox. Hindsight is a powerful indicator

@@gisagCif you want an EV, I’d go with a Tesla or a Hyundai or a Kia if you care about fast charging. The Prologue is pretty slow at DC fast charging compared to those brands.
We own a Tesla. Tesla wouldn’t take the trade on my Fisker ocean.

Has anyone in reading this with a prologue head issues with there cars heat not getting hot? At best it's blowing at luke warm. Also my prologue range has been horrible since getting the car. Have 550 miles on it and have had to charge it 7 times since getting it. I live in NY and it's really cold but that seems excessive. I'm bringing the car to honda service to have it looked at but was wondering if anyone else has experienced horrible range and poor heating in the car.
The heat thing has been reported before. Be prepared to lose up to 40% range in the cold. Especially the cold right now. Very normal.
Haven't had horrible range, but definitely have had the issue with lukewarm air. After putting it on high i smelled what seemed like burning electrical, but no smoke. The service manager chalked it up to "normal new car behavior." We shall see. They are supposed to get back to me tomorrow with a fix after replacing some sensors. My other issue is the dreaded service high voltage system error. Looking forward to adding my complains to NHTSA site. Great informative video as always!
