Interesting, but I hope the power doors don't make it to production. It may seem cool but it seems like something else that can go wrong, which doesn't suit someone who wants to keep a car for as long as possible. It also seems to contradict "Thin, Light, and Wise." Extra complexity, like motors to open and close the door would just be adding extra weight, add extra cost and bring little to the experience of driving the car.

I feel like every Polstar, the Porsche Taycan, and the Sierra EV all looks pretty “normal” too.
But if you have new technology why would you confine yourself to design requirements for internal combustion? The reason cars look the way they do is to accommodate the gas engine and drivetrain. It would be like designing an ICE car to look like a horse-drawn carriage.

    • @Snerdles
      @Snerdles 16 дней назад +6

@@ambee514Kona and Niro don't have great range and slow charging, F-150 is massively expensive for its capability and isn't a car so doesn't get all that great range and on a range per minute recharge it's near as bad as the Kona/Niro problem just using more energy, the Caddy is nice but way too expensive for most people, the ID7 is looking pretty decent but again is priced as a luxury vehicle.
Why can't we just get a civic hatch EV with a nice battery, good charging curve, and simple button controls. It would sell like hot cakes. As much as I like them the poor sales figures of things like the Ioniq 5 and 6 show people don't want trendy design they just want a car that works and goes when they want it to which is why the Corolla out sells these two combined by near 9 or 10 times.

And since you refuse to listen, at least make:
    - the buttons in the interface way bigger
    - be generous with the tolerances in swipe detection, it's very easy to accidentally have your finger move a bit when ur driving and trying to touch something. Account for that
Anyone actually test driving and trying to do shit while on the move would figure this out, and yet automakers don't.

This trend of electronic door handles needs to stop. I just read a story the other day about an infant getting trapped inside a Mustang Mach-E because of a malfunction that disabled the electronic door handles. Then there are no physical controls for HVAC or Tuning and Volume knobs. And to top it all off, there is a hump in the back. Why does this EV need to have a hump when there is no drive shaft running to the back? I also don’t want a yoke. I want a normal steering wheel. All and all, I don’t like this and I am confident that I am not alone.

Not a fan of the yolk wheel, but I understand it increases the visibility of the screen.
That said, this car will undoubtedly be priced too high for the average Joe.
With that in mind, I can imagine the wealthier class being into some of these design choices.
However, isn't that where BMW, Mercedes and maybe Audi automatically enter into the competition?
We'll just have to see what happens, but I'm curious how Honda would pull off selling this design against titan luxury brands.

The back side needs to go back to the drawing board... It will almost certainly hurt sales.

I’d like to see the design in a full size 3 row SUV or a 2-door hatchback.

This is not Honda's first in-house EV. The Honda made EVs include EV Plus from 1997-1999, the Fit EV from 2013-2015, the Clarity EV 2017-2019, the Honda E from 2020-2022, and a multitude of EV's based on the HRV from 2019 until now.

Love the front, interior isn't bad, the rear is the ugliest thing i seen to date.

Love this SUV and if Honda plays their cards right with the price I may end up staying a honda fan and getting this one instead of jumping to the Ioniq 5. Only gripes are the lack of buttons inside, the fact that it's a yoke is also annoying, and I hope we end up with a standard steering wheel option, and how slow the doors open and close... Not sure if that will be the final version but alas. I know for sure that Honda is not going to get away with those sleek camera mirrors in the United States. Expect it to release in the US with those huge goofy side mirrors our outdated government requires of all vehicles...

Great exercise for the design team. will it sell? yes to people with a undeveloped sense of pleasing form and function

The rear coloring choice needs to be adjusted. Just continue the roof line all the way to the back. Make it black also. I don’t think Americans will be ready for that rear look.
