Really happy you're inspired here!
This is BEAUTIFUL! Happy early Halloween, Mark :)
You can never start too early on your Halloween costume! It makes the whole month exciting!
This costume is adorable! What a fabulous project. It would make for a great cosplay costume as well. I know what costume I'm wearing for Halloween!

That would also make a beautiful large flower arrangement. Great job!
Thank you so much!
Awesome! I wish OlyFun had been around years ago when I was designing bird costumes for a play in college. Really clever and beautiful!

Hi Lisa! Happy you like it!
Mark - What an incredible video! I am always amazed that you are able to take a complicated craft idea and transform it into an easy DIY. I so can see many Mom's running with this idea for her child's Halloween costume. Thanks for all of the effort that it takes to do these videos! Jackie
Thanks so much!

Glue and scissors. Right up my alley.
I hear you there!
Gorgeous
Thanks Debi! I almost wore it this year, but decided on something else.
This would be a fabulous way to make a Decidueye (a pokemon) cosplay. I'll have to keep this in mind for Comic-Con next spring
I love that you love Cosplay!
Mark Montano i love that you keep giving me great ideas
Wow this is so cool
I still have this costume and I love it!
Very cool Mark!
Thanks Michelle!
I love this! Is there a good alternative if we can't find the Oly Fun fabric?
You can use polyester but you may have to singe the edges so that they don't fray...Or you could use felt.
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark awesome, Mark. Thanks so much!
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark Hi Mark, I opted for felt and made hawk wings for a middle school play. They turned out AMAZING, thanks to your super helpful tutorial. You rock! 🙌
You make it look easy. As always, thanks for sharing creativity and inspiration.
Happy Halloween!
So cool! I need to make an owl costume. Will try your tips and tricks....thanks for tutorial!!
Yup, the fabri-fuse and some Oly-Fun and you're good to go!
Wow this is awesome love it
Hi Paula!
Great video. I don't believe I've seen this before. Gonna attempt a parrot 💕
I love this costume!
Me salvaste la vida❤
I'm glad you like the costume!
Hi! I am so excited to make this costume, how much fabric would you suggest I purchase of each color?
Hi Veeta, I'm thinking 2 yards of each color would be plenty.
Find me on Instagram if you're there, too! instagram.com/themarkmontano/
Dam! Can’t get that material in Australia but I will try with some other materials! Super inspirational!!
Try using a poly taffeta. You can singe the edges so the fabric doesn't fray.
Nice! Thanks 😊
Great video and costume! Where I live I can’t get the Oly-fun fabric. Is there another substitute fabric that could also work?
You can use a polyester or whatever you have on hand. I think most fabrics would work as long as they have a little stiffness.
I certainly, madly, definitely loved that idea! Sensational! You rock again!
You are very sweet Briana!
Super cute!
Thanks Dannette!
Sooo cool! Am thinking of adapting for butterfly wings. So cleve!
Great idea Belinda! xo
Very cool!
Thank you Autumn!
Yay now I do have a snow owl because of this!! I LOvE OWLS 🦉
Me, too!
Yes! Outstanding idea and design! You are brilliant. TFS
Any time! Glad you watched the video!
nice and simple
Not too bad. Just lots of cutting, but it's worth it.
I think your cricket could cut out that for you?
Wow really good 👍👍 if it were me I would add in yellow/orange gloves designed as talons to give it a touch ❤
Cool idea! I love it!
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark thank you ❤❤ I'm honored that u like it❤❤
Thanks for this video. You explained so well, I think even I could do this!!
You can totally do it!
Hi Jill...I would be soooooo grateful if you followed me on Instagram!
Here's the link just in case: instagram.com/themarkmontano/
So pretty? Is this heavy? Thinking about using it for a running costume
Not really heavy at all. The olyfun is light and even poly taffetta is pretty light, too if you choose to use something like that for the feathers.
Follow me on Instagram if you're there, too! instagram.com/themarkmontano/reels/
Nice birdie
I may try actually flying in this!
Que bonito !
Thanks Victor!
I will be doing this in 8 months. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Très beau déguisement bravo 💐💐
Merci!
that looks amazing and easy to make!
Happy you like it!
Wow! Golden hands! So cool!:)
I love making costumes!
That’s beautiful!
Thanks Christine!
Would have loved some fabric measurements and quantities.
It really depends on how may feathers you make but a good rule of thumb is about 1 1/2 yards per color for the costume.
And 7" by what size? Finally, how did you get the feather shape?@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark
Thank you for posting this video, I'm going to make wings for my costume based on your wings! Thanks again!
Awesome! Can't wait to see your costume.
This is exactly what I wanted. Thanks!!!!!

Hi! How do you attach the big feather piece to the long sleeve shirt at the end?
You can use more glue along the sleeve OR you can use some small safety pins if you want to wash the shirt. Use them along the shoulder and down to the cuff.
Love this :) I'm struggling to find an equivalent for the 'heavy black fabric', can you provide any more detail on material and thickness? Trying to make this out of bits available in the UK. Thanks!
I really can't. I used something equivalent to felt, but it was woven.
😍😍😍😍😍thats a beautiful mark of yours. Love it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👌
I loved making this!
Amazing !
Morning!
I love the instructions for the costume. Where are the patterns for the feathers that were mentioned in the video?
Here's the link: www.markmontano.com/p/blog-page_29.html
This is amazing - sorry I haven't seen how many m2 of fabric are needed anywhere can you tell me please?
What would you like to know Georgina?
BRAVO!
Thank you Natalia!
so funny dress,,,👍👍👍👌👌👌👏👏👏but i love this idea😘😘😘
It's a Halloween costume.
what is halloween ,, really don't know
lol. I Love your creativity my friend!!
I feel the same way about you!
fantastic! Please tell us how to make the paper form for tracing the feathers.
Here you go: www.markmontano.com/p/blog-page_29.html
Wow! This is so awesome! I love it! Thanks for sharing. 😃👍
Thanks Marisol!
It's very super brother shall we try this in fur or velvet ah brother
Ooh yes! Love it!
LOVE THIS! It reminds me of a bird costume (in lavenders and metallics) that I found years ago in a costume sale.
The possibilities for this are endless!!
It also looks very comfy to wear.
Guess creative birds of a feather can gather together in these!!
Have a good weekend!
I love a good bird costume! So comfy, too Dianna!
Please do more costumes!
I'll give it a shot!
Hi, Mark! I hope you're having an amazing day!
Hey there! I am. Hope you are, too!
Mark!!! Hello !! Your BIRD costume is Gorgeous!! Spectacular!! Outstanding!!! U r truly a Hoot!! Love love love!! 😘😘🎃👻👏🏻👍🏻👌🏼👩🏻🎤👨🏻🎤🦉🌈
Thank you so much Donna! We worked hard on it and I can't wait for Halloween!
OMG mark te quedo divino perfecto para mi niña mil gracias como siempre. Te adoro hasta la próxima bye
Gracias Maria!
Hi! Looking to make a bunch of these for a cabin full of kids. Do you know roughly how much fabric is needed per costume?
If they are smaller costumes you would need about 1 yard wing fabric and 1/4 yard in 4 colors for the different color feathers.
hi love this project. Can you tell how wide the oly-fun material should be? you said cut 7" long; does the material come the size that you show in the video? thank you.
Olyfun is 60" wide and that's how it comes. You could also use a poly taffeta if you wanted. It's up to you.
*Follow me on Instagram if you're there, too! I'd love to see you! instagram.com/themarkmontano/reels/
Love this! Another great idea - super creative! As always thanks for sharing your artistic gifts!
You are very sweet Jacquie! Thanks for watching!
You could reuse and old Dracula cape, and just pin things in place if you didn’t want to sacrifice a full Tshirt. This is an absolutely brilliant costume.
Great idea!
Me encantó se lo haré a mi hijo gracias. Saludos desde México
Gracias Diana!
Thank you! I wish I could send you a pic of my son's costume for tomorrow's play! He's a hawk...he can't wait to where his wings! God bless!
You can! MarkMontanoNYC@aol.com Just put Kay Notts in the subject so I know it's you.
I’m making this costume for the eagle in a high school Narnia play and I printed out the feather pattern and once cut it only measures 5” and not 7” like yours appears on your 7” fabric strips. Can you explain the discrepancy please. Have I done something wrong? Thanks
Or is the 5” print out correct but then why the 7” strips of fabric? Would 5” be long enough and full enough? I’m not sure they would
Use whatever feather length feels right for your costume. 2" won't make a difference either way.
Hi Mark for a toddler version of this costume should I cut the cloth in 4 inch strips as opposed to the 7?
Yes, make them smaller for sure!
that looks so fun to make. thank you so much for showing us your amazing creativity 😍😍😘 love it
Hi Jill! Thanks for the sweet comment.
Is there any way you can make a snake costume?
Hm.....Not sure how to tackle that.....Let me think of it!
I am so glad I found this video! I've been asked to make a Cardinal costume for a 4 year old and was struggling to figure out the easiest way to do it. Your video solved that struggle.
I have a question for you though. Since the cape will be much smaller than that for a adult, how much smaller would you think I should make the feathers? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
I'm so glad this could help you! Hope you'll find me on Instagram! I'm here: instagram.com/themarkmontano/reels/
What fabric are you using?
This is called Oly-fun but you can use whatever you find!
Absolutely Beautiful Mark! Oh how I wish I lived close to you and we were best buddies I would have the best costume in neighborhood! Lol!! Thanks for sharing all your incredible work with us! Have a great weekend! 😊😊😊
I wish you lived close, too Selenia! We would probably be crafting Margaritas, though! :)
What particular type of fabric did you use for the wings? Thanks ahead..
This was called Olyfun by Fairfield World and you can get it at most fabric stores.
Wow!
Nice to hear!
Is it okay to use cartolina for feathers? And is it okay to use glue gun instead of the glue thingy?
Absolutely! Whatever works for you and gets the job done. The products I use are suggestions only and what I use. Other people have their favorites. Have fun!
Awesome
Well, thank you!
Is the fabric used for eco-friendly supermarket bags? Here in Argentina it's called friselina. Can that be ?? Thank you. Incredible design and the easy. Congratulations.
Yes, that is it! I've been wondering what they call it in other countries!
Mark Montano Thank you very much for the quick response! In Argentina it is called friselina ha ha ha, although to say that it is the fabric of the ecological bags of supermarket type is excellent description. Thank you very much again
Thank you very much, encourage me to do so. It was a luxury design. My daughter was beautiful. Where can I send you photos? Abrazo de pájaro desde Argentina 🇦🇷
Preciso de fantasias de árvores ,flores, animais. Vcs fornece??.Para início do mês de dezembro.
Não, não é algo que eu faço, mas mal posso esperar para ver para que servem!
How heavy is this costume?
Not very. Depends on the kind of fabric you choose for it, also.
This is unreal! Love it!
Glad you like it!
What is that blue long wig made of? The strands of hair is to with I am referring to .
Nice idea. The bird costume. Looks fun to make. I haven't made a costume since I was a raggedy Andy doll many many many years ago. Really really just did the wig. The clothes were easy to find except for the socks . Those I made also.
It's made with curling ribbon.
