- I became a UX Content Designer with no experience. This is my story.
I'll be honest. It's pretty vulnerable to share my own story. I wrote 4 different scripts but eventually decided to film it without any. I hope you like it.

@@yvonnexiao Lol. Luckily, I don’t experience back pain. I recently started going back to running 4-5 times a week like in my early 20s. However, I do have vision issues. My eyes are so bad that things close up and far away are blurry. 😭

I love this story! And you seem like a nice person with great sense o humor :). It's actually impressive that you work with language that's not your native language. I have a 1 year experience as UX designer in creative agency, but I believe UX writing is my niche and I've always had a passion for words so I want UX writing to be my part time job, but I want to write in my language, English grammar was always hard to learn for me no mater how hard I was trying. But I am Polish and Polish language is highly inflected language, so many things that are quite simple in English in Polish are like 'ok, now we need to spend two weeks thinking about verb forms'.
Thank you thank you! I feel the same way with my native tongue vs. English. Although I don’t think I would be able to do UX Writing in Chinese at all-the principles of design are quite different.

Now I'm trying to find everything I can about it because I feel like I could actually do this and be good at it! I'm 24 and want to try something new. Thanks so much for this video I loved it.

Hi Yvonne, this is really good. I have been a content designer for 3 years and I didn't even know what to call it at the time 😂. I'll absolutely love to see a portfolio for content design I can use. I have searched everywhere for a template but I couldn't find one.

So glad I found your channel! I'm currently a college student with ADHD, and I've been interested in UX Writing for a while now. I'm thinking about majoring in creative writing because I love writing so much. I'm terrible at math and science-related subjects, but I do well in my English classes. Do you think UX Writing will be more in-demand and have more job openings in the future? I checked on Indeed and it was only pulling up around 150 UX Writing positions.

Great question regarding job openings. I’ll try my best to keep this brief hehe.
Content Designer was recently listed as the #12 job in the “LinkedIn Jobs on the Rise 2023” (I made a short video on it: ruclips.net/user/shortsdnDoBGb5H6Y?feature=share) It’s also the #9 fastest growing role in the UK.
Tech companies have been super cautious with hiring this year as a result of all the mass layoffs. I’m sure there will be a lot more openings once the economy becomes a bit more stable.

I came across content design via a couple of books I got from publisher A Book Apart. I was just looking for design book, and the content books were part of pack of other design books. I have been following the authors on LinkedIn and then saw an apprenticeship today that I decided to go ahead and apply for. As with any new thing I want to learn about, I came to RUclips to get more details. I am about to sign up for the daily content challenge as soon as I finish this comment! You are so awesome. You can find a career you love right after graduation. I would like to ask, are there any books I can read as a ux writer? I also like this profession, but I found that there seems to be no Chinese books or information.
Hi! Thanks for the comment. I’d say UX writing is still on the discovery phase in China. Here’s an article on it: uxcontent.com/content-design-in-china/
The article also shared that there are a few books from the west translated into Chinese. However, UX principles in China are quite different from the west, so it might not be as helpful.

Hey Yvonne, I have a very important question to ask - at times I see jobs opening in the market for applicants as UX and UI designers and specifically not as a UX writer or content designer. So those currently pursuing their career in writing like I am a creative copywriter, do they need to prepare themselves as per UI designers OR UX writer standards. Plz show some light and guidance

Hi. Is Ux writer the same word as contents designer? Although Ux writers are not yet widely known in the world, I wonder if you think that over time, global demand will increase as much as Ux designers or programming jobs. I am currently majoring in statistics, but I have become interested in copywriting and now I am learning a lot about Ux writers. It is very attractive to be involved in the user experience through writing !😮

I think this would be a great topic to dive deeper in a video. My #1 advice? Network without the intention of getting a referral. Spending time to learn more about the people and their stories is far more beneficial than asking for a referral.

I wish I was good at math haha. Don’t give up just yet! So many people pivot to STEM after working in certain fields for years. It’s never too late :)
