You can always rely on The Royal Mint to destroy a perfectly good coin with sloppy and handling and disregard of any form of quality control, it is disgusting that they are allowed to get away with it? When I contacted the customer service department, I was informed that I should expect handling marks and dings because they are only "Bullion" coins, If I wanted an acceptable finish I should by "Proof" coins?????? Unfortunately that is their attitude to loyal customers. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE
It is sad, yet still no guarantees with proof coins. The most they will do is to attempt to replace it or refund you. But that's no good if you want or need that coin for a set. So their attitude is horrible
Great video. It's such a shame that a prestigious mint like the Royal Mint is trashing its reputation with consistent poor quality control in recent years. They really need to take some urgent action as the discussion and their reputation amongst stackers and numismatists is rapidly becoming overwhelmingly negative. I know a number of people that are now simply refusing to purchase their products until quality improves. Best wishes from Australia.🇦🇺
Crypto Monkey, it is a real shame I agree. Their products are becoming more a thing to churn out and spew to unknowing buyers at a premium rate without any basic care. I am finding it hard to speak positively about any of their products at the moment. I do praise them when they do a good job, but that is more of me just being excited that something has finally gone from rubbish to acceptable. Long are the days where quality was associated with the Royal Mint. And for that I am feeling ashamed.
Stopped buying one ounce Britannia few years back because of scratches, scuffing and dings. The 10 ounce Queens beast, Lion and others I have must be handled differently at the Royal mint because they are pristine without any obvious flaws and quite stunning to look at.
I agree, however I do have a 10oz that we'll is not perfect. But it is still great.
My 2023 KC3 silver Britannia is flawless. So is my 2023 KC3 Coronation Britannia.
All of my 25 gold britannias are in perfect condition. No complaints here
The Gold is not bad at all, the silver seems to treated horrible!
I bought 2 of these, only because they are the first with Charles on. Stacking for the silver, not for the quality (which is appalling).
You can stack for the weight. But at the end of the day, when it comes time to sell it if you choose to. People will look for the cleanest examples possible. And if King Charles is not on the throne long this could have been a great collectors item.
Apmex has a sale for these at $26.70 and I got some rewards built up so for me its worth the risk. Its sad to see because Britannia’s may be my favorite silver coin.
I have to say I am jealous your able to buy from Apmex. I get hit with 20% tax and of course dealer fees. The cheapest I can buy them is £30 which is about $39 dollars
@@AceBullion Thats highway robbery, although apmex is usually overpriced. I got the bullion card which automatically gives you elite status which saves me a good amount. The apmex buy back is a scam as well so I guess you might be better off. They offered my a little under $700 for a newer date american gold eagle half oz 😂.
@daledoback1716 get on the Precious metal forum www.thepreciousmetalforum.com and no doubt people will ask for things. Lol like me
We are hoping that when Charles is crowned this month in 2023 that the next issue will have a Crown on his image. That means that the rare crown less ones will be that more collectable.. if only the quality was better. I paid £29 for one.
Historically Kings did not have crowns on. If they do make a version with a crown it will most likely be very limited
it may not be the mint but the vender that sold them cherry picking threw the rolls before they re sell and not caring about how they handel the coins .
upier, OHH NO !!!! That is Horrible. I know these come in a Monster box for dealers, the same as the normal Britannia's and other RM products. I am usually suspicious of the RM anyway as the quality control is horrible at the best of times. Forget about the dealers for one second, but Yikes. I am really sorry to hear about this. I know that Martin the Silver Trader will always do his best to scan the coins first before any shipping. Most coins end up in his B grade pile costing him a lot of money.
When it comes to Britannia's the quality doesn't really bother me as I buy them purely for stack bulking, my dilemma is I've just reached my yearly goal of 25 Britannia's but do I leave it at that and just get one of these for the collection, or do I start again and get 25 of these too. Never had this dilemma before! I'm leaning towards getting 25 of the king Charles one's too, for the stack.
As it is a special Britannia, meaning 2 are issued in the same year, I couldn't advise or suggest anything. It is your money. But I know the dilemma your facing and am leaning on the same side as you.
2 of the 5 I bought had strike through errors. 1 was small, the other was bigger and in a prime focal area where it should have been caught. I also have had ones with lots of scratchs and spotting. Apmex let me exchnage them, so now I have some better ones but still not perfect.
Royal mint .... the quality is terrible
I got mines yesterday and he has a crown on his head why doesn't that coin has a crown
I think you should watch my latest Britannia update. ruclips.net/video/tVXQ8tzswzI/видео.html
There are 3 different Silver Britannias for 2023 😱😱😱
So that's why they selling these for so cheap!!!
Yep. Everywhere is dropping the price in these.
hi JON RMS ! these coins are like pocket coins when they come like that. But that being said i still like the design.
I agree. I am excited as a collector but disappointed as a collector by quality control. 😕
All of the coins I've bought from the bank had 1 or 2 deep scratches. Aside from that neatless... Sad!
I bet all the marks were in a similar area as well. Sad.
I just got ten 2023 silver Britannia King Charles III, nine were good, one had a huge milk spot covering half of his face, sending it back to dealer for exchange.
Where abouts are you? I know the USA will be hit or miss depending if they havd any imported silver
@@AceBullion USA.
@@markd.songsandstuff7728 most there should be OK. But I know the Royal Mint sent some there. Good luck
The Britannias I bought from The Royal Mint all had a scratch on the Queens cheek. The ones from Liberty Coin were perfect. They are considered bullion and handled a little bit more ruff.
Yet the ones produced in the USA ate handled with extreme care. Sadly here in the UK even gold proofs are coming to us customers damaged
I just realised my one has a huge tool mark around the waist 😅
Seems a few people have the same type of damage. Scary and unprofessional really
I just got my King Charles Britannia yesterday, and I'm incredibly disappointed that it has several large milk spots!
Yikes. But not unexpected. I have all those coins to review this week actually
Ah, ah, mother 96, father 99, grandma 102. King will reign for 20 years, still. But yes, quite disappointing the quality or the finish of such a beautiful coin.
There are some interesting views on the Precious metal forum www.thepreciousmetalforum.com But it is one for a keep sake for sure. Still annoyed with quality. But thank you for your comment 👍👍👍
I have his and hers and both are in pristine condition
But I'm in the UK yours looks like it was dragged through the atlantic
Andrew, I am also in the UK. The Royal Mint probably did drag it across the bottom of the Atlantic ocean just for me🤣🤣🤣
All of mine are fine.
Oh dang, I just bought one of these the other day.🥴😲
I really have my fingers crossed 🤞 for you. In the past some people have been lucky.
@@AceBullion Thanks, I'll let you know.
Sorry, in Poland i buy this coin in high quality in small shop it's not Look like your coin i buy tis in gold and Silver and Look very very good
Buying anything made by the Royal Mint is hit or miss. Sometimes you are lucky other times you get a lemon. 🍺🍺
You can buy a 2023 KC3 Britannia for about $34. You can buy a GSM silver round for $32. Buying non currency silver when the price difference is $2 is just plain dumb. There's no good reason that generic silver is anywhere near the pricecit is right now. I wouldn't pay more than $1 over spot for generic silver but I'd pay as much as $10 over spot for the right goverment minted silver (but i don't buy Chinese silver because it isn't a full ounce).
You have choices and are entitled to your view. At the time of filming this everything was correct. The Chinese silver is as stated. Most is 1ozt some are 30g but declare that. Pecos in gold are sketchy with weight! I deal in this daily, and have been doing it for decades.
the coin design is good. the minting process which is done in wales the uk is very amatuer. or was it really minted in china ?
If it was minted in China if would look much better than this. Infact look at my fake videos. They make their coins proof like
Is that a proof soz in the photo at 551?
😢😢😢 yes 😢😢😢
Ouch! Buy the Gold Britannia you will not be disappointed. Beautiful coins. Both the '23 Q.E. II and the '23 King Charles III. The chap that sent you the image of his King Charles III gold Britannia was unlucky.
Sadly no, that Gold one I shown is scratched to heck. if you pause the video you can see it clear as day. There are multiple scratches and marks on the coin. And that was not the only example I have come across before making this video. I feel it is a shame. Some people have been lucky and received quality products but for a lot of people buying the gold and silver, it is just not the case.
@@AceBullion I own very few Royal Mint releases. Over the years it has been tragic to watch quality fail to the point of a ruined reputation. Blessed I must be as I advised my Aunt to purchase the Gold Britannia's. I would have been rolling pinned had they been a victim of careless handling.
@mazza LOL my mother called that tool a Ta wack it! 🤣 And boy oh boy was I tapped a few times whilst in her way in the kitchen. Glad yours are fine. The amount of Royal Mint products I buy has declined over the past 5 years noticeably
That gold King Charles coin shown was NOT a Britannia ! the fields were wrong , also it was a proof .. looked like it was out of the capsule and had been handled ... I think there's more to that story than you'd think! ... however , I got a 2023 QEII Britannia and it was badly scratched (portrait) , and had rim scrapes on reverse .. totally agree with the dreadful quality ... especially over the last five years .. on bullion and proof coins.. I won't be buying anymore silver Britannia's until there's either a new design or quality has been sorted out..
@@chrisb.h4605 The video did not display any gold coins. My comment was a suggestion to buy the gold rather than the silver. The video presented the 2 Britannia silver coins. Elizabeth and Charles. Both poorly handled during the production process. I bought a tube of the Q.E.II Britannia silver coins and they were tragic. Such a shame for such a landmark coin.
Even the Brittania I always keep in my pocket who fell once or twice is not as damage as that one . I'm sad for you .
Why are you " sad for me?" The older Britannias did not carry a huge premium. Sadly the Royal Mint has considered or is charging premium prices now along with America on generic coins. I love them and often have one in my pocket as well. Maybe up to 100 if I am going to the workshop 🙃 . But these are brand new and damaged 💔
@@AceBullion because it's allaways sad to receive such a damage item . Pardon me for my english I'm french
I don’t even see chucky getting corronatted
Well it is and will be happening very soon
The Queen is not wearing a crown. She is wearing a diadem. If these are coins are bullion nobody should expect perfection. As a coin collector I would never buy a bullion coin. I don’t expect quality control for bullion. A bullion coin is just bullion.
🤜💥🤛 As a stacker you are not bothered. Collectors are
But they are not sold a bullion prices, they have a big premium. That premium should get you an undamaged coin.
@@davewhite7182 agreed or at least a decent coin free from handling and manufacturing known issues.
Both of my Brittania’s are gorgeous from JM
That comes as no surprise to me, There is a branch that makes these coins in the USA for US distribution. I know as we got both versions. The ones made here in the UK and some bought from back home... The stamping and markings were every so different. And you can tell. I stated it in a previous video but the UK mint is horrible!!! The US Mint doing these on behalf of the UK are amazing.
Such a shame, I'm from the uk, the britannia is very hit and miss. I only have 2(just started my second journey)got lucky with mine, alot seem to have defects unfortunately
The quality of the Royal mint is shocking. Silver Stacker consider joining the Precious metal forum www.thepreciousmetalforum.com
It is 100% FREE and lots of great people there. Mostly UK based but we do have Americans Canadians and Europeans... let's not forget the Aussies
@jonrms yeah it's such a shame as they are great looking coins! Ah cool, thanks for the link
@Silver Stacker my pleasure. It's great group and growing all the time
Who would buy a coin with Jimmy Saviles best pal on it ?
I rather leave that mobster out of this review if it's ok
Just like England soccer team, the mint finds new ways to dissapoint 😁
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I don't watch British football, yes I shall confuse my American friends & family. 🤣 But I understand the analogy perfectly well. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We don’t have an England sock her team. We do have a football ⚽️ team a cricket team, Rugby Union team and a Rugby League team.
🤣
Canadian maple coin is a much better quality coin and looks beautiful
I agree 👍
The anti counterfiting measures on the britannia are way better than anything the canadian mint currently offers.
If your going to talk about scratches take the coin out the capsule.
I could and perhaps should have. However why speed up the milking process when we know it is Royal Mint Quality. BUT... yes I acknowledge and agree sorry
Royal mint lol royal disgrace
A Royal shamble. 🤣🤣🤣
made in china ?
If was made in China it would be better quality on yhd outside. Proof like
@@AceBullion Or it would be fake :)
@@Pl89uk no doubt it would be fake, but it would look a lot better 😉 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is this a new thing or are they known for doing this all the time? My assumption would be COVID reaked havoc on the company and they now have an in experienced work force that is causing the damage and by the time it was noticed it was to late and they aren't going to remelt it??? Unless they are known for this all the time of course. ..hifive and keep on stacking
Jackson, sadly this started before covid. Then the decline in production just continued to get worse in certain coins. Quality control is a hit or muss. Mainly absent. Sadly this is bot a new thing, just consistently getting worse, and destroying the Ince great reputation
