- Happy Friday! Join my mum (Donna) and me to celebrate the start of the weekend by baking a delicious rhubarb & custard cake and chatting about books we've been loving lately. Also, we are planning a Q&A to celebrate our first year in Yorkshire! I already have some great questions from many via Instagram, but thought I would ask on RUclips too whether any of you have questions you'd like us to answer on our past year in Yorkshire, or our plans for the future. Please me know in the comments if so! Have a lovely weekend 😊

Miranda...I'm 66 years old...and lost my Mom in 1999. I so love seeing other women spending precious and special times with their mothers...it just warms my heart. And you and your mother's interactions in your videos always bring a ray of sunshine to my days. Thank you so much for sharing with us all! I found your channel because of my interest in and love of books...but watching times and activities done with your Mom are such a sweet bonus to see! Hugs and thank you again...Carla...from Alabama, U.S.A.
Carla, I feel the same way .... about all that you wrote! Thanks for expressing my feelings (for me) too.
That’s very touching. Thank you so much ❤️
Carla, I third your lovely comments. I’m your age and lost my mom in 2013. I miss her so and love watching Miranda and Donna. It’s brings back such wonderful memories 💕
It's always such a joy to watch you two in action. Your reactions to that mouth-watering cake are priceless. It's also a joy to read through your comments. What a wonderful community you have gathered. xx
Thanks so much for your lovely comment, Pamela! Xxx
Thanks! (I miss your books and bakes!)
Thanks so much!
I love your channel! It is quite transportive. When you and your mom appear together I feel like I am visiting friends.
Thank you so much! That’s wonderful 💕
You have such an admirable mother-daughter relationship. Always enjoy your videos 💕🫖💕
Thank you so much! We’re very lucky we get on so well ❤️
Your first year in Yorkshire and the videos you have produced have really helped me through this strange time. I love the beauty, passion and creativity displayed in every video, it is so inspiring. I also adore the relationship you have with your mum, it's incredibly heartfelt and loving; it fills me with joy to watch. Thank you for the effort and time your have put into this channel. ❤️
Thank you so much for your lovely words! I’m so glad you enjoy my videos 💕
Donna is right, there can't be anything better than rhubard and custard together.
Happy birthday, Donna💕💕
Hope you have a blessed birthday Donna. Really enjoyed the video and book conversation. Thanks so much.
So glad you enjoyed it! 💕
Yes, homemade cakes are always the best, I have recenty made a rhubarb cake with rhubarb from my own garden (I love to garden), but yours look very delicious! I have always loved everything English (books, gardens, villages, countryside, whatever!)and so all your videos are like a treasure every time!
Q- What are your personal plans for the future? Would you like to stay longer in the beautyful Yorkshire countryside and what about your profession, did you write or photograph for a magazine (for example)?
I hope that you also have fun to share all these things with so many people!
Greetings from Germany!
Thanks for your question! How lovely to grow your own rhubarb 😊
Really enjoy your up-lifting videos and thank you so much for the time and effort that you put in - much appreciated. It always feels so cosy, as though I am sitting there with you and sharing in your fun. Your book recommendations are starting to fill quite a few pages in my notebook and I feel as though the bar has been raised on what I am reading - thank you. Happy birthday to Donna for the end of the month. Very best wishes to you both, Lottie in Suffolk xx
Thanks so much for your lovely comment! So glad you enjoy my videos xxx
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Donna!
We’re looking forward to celebrating at the end of the month! Xx
Hello Miranda and Donna, well you had me hook, line and sinker as soon as you mentioned those two words - rhubarb and custard!! And I was not disappointed. Your reactions to the cake were priceless and I agree the best tea reads cake yet. I loved that you chose to read from Emma Mitchell's book as she is a delightful person and I spent a lovely day with her creating a silver necklace using flowers from her garden and your reading brought back such happy memories, thank you so much. I am catching up with Ellie Griffiths's Ruth Galloway as both Norfolk and Cambridge are both favourite places of mine to visit. My question would be: what one treat (think Desert Island Discs), it could be a house, restaurant, shop or museum, would you like to have magicked from London to Yorkshire. Another wonderful episode of Tea Reads, thank you both and have a wonderful week, Teresa 📚🫖🍰
Thank you so much, Teresa! I hope you do try this cake; it’s so delicious! Thank you for your question- I love it! Xxx
Happy Birthday, Donna 🎂🎂🎂. Looking forward to the Q & A.
Thank you!
This was wonderful, thank you both for the time and commitment you put in to your videos because it really is appreciated! I love the look of the recipe book you used this week, may have to search that one out! My oldest son and his fiancee have just moved to London and I will be there frequently (I hope!). I am compiling a list of places and shops to visit so I have just added Petersham Nurseries and Museum of the Home! Happy Birthday month Donna, looks like you have already started to celebrate with these beautiful books. I have the same recent Ros Byam Shaw book and it is gorgeous. Another interiors book that I find truly inspiring and very readable is Kath Kidston’s A Place Called Home, about her home in the Cotswolds. X
Thanks so much for your kind words, Penny! The recipe is linked in the description box if you want it. That’s lovely you’ll be visiting London a lot, and those are definitely two must see places! I have that Cath Kidston book & love it too! Xxx
Really love the relationship you and your Mum have, always lovely to watch.
Thank you so much ❤️
Loved the rhubarb and custard cake sounds delicious. Some great books. Thank you for sharing these lovely videos and hope you both are well.
Thanks so much! It’s so yummy! Have a great weekend 😊
Oh have you seen the new panmacmillan copies of The Cazalet Chronicles . Great art work on the fronts covers and spines
Yes, I have! I wrote a blog post on them a few weeks ago actually. They are gorgeous!
So excited as we have a glut of rhubarb. Thank you Miranda and Donna.
Oh how fabulous - lucky you! This recipe is definitely worth a try then! xxx
So lovely to have your company as I prepared dinner for my family! The cake looks delicious, and all the books sound wonderful. I'm looking forward to reading Mrs Dalloway for the first time this month! Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Thanks so much, Emma! June is certainly the perfect month to read Mrs Dalloway! Xxx
The cake looks delicious. I really like how you left the rhubarb in strands. So rustic!
It is so yummy! xxx
I so enjoy your videos, but my book list is growing faster than ever! You have so many good suggestions and reviews. I actually have three of Ros Byam Shaw's English decorating books including the one your described and love them all.
Thank you very much! I’d love to get more of her books; she’s got such amazing taste!
Hallo Donna and Miranda! Happy Birthday for Donna! The cake looks delicious and the selection of books is great too. Have a nice weekend. Cheers!
Thanks so much Julia! Enjoy your weekend 😊
I have to say your cake looked fabulous 😍😍. Having seen the latest edition of the Cazalet Chronicles on one of your videos recently, I just had to order them, all five arrived this week!! They look absolutely stunning on my bookshelf, you were right about the spines; I find myself spending more time than I should just simply gazing at them 😂😂. Lovely to see you and your mum looking so well, have a great weekend 😘
Oh I’m so glad! Those spines are absolutely stunning 😍 Have a lovely weekend too xxx
Those last few books were stunning! 📚 I can’t wait for your upcoming Q&A video!
Thank you so much 😊
This was lovely 💕. That home and gardens catalog looks amazing! Looking forward to the Q&A
Thank you! It’s got such gorgeous artwork 😍
I am just now reading All Creatures Great and Small after your glowing recommendation and it is wonderful. I laugh, I cry, it's all just such a lovely and heartwarming book. About halfway thru the ebook, I love print books, but ebooks are just so convenient, and can't wait to see what happens to James next!
Oh good, I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! Such a wonderful, feel-good series 😊💕
The cake looks fabulous! I need to try and make it. Absolutely love your book choices here. So many I own and want to read and some I want to buy soon 😁 National Provincial has been on my shelves for years but the size scares me a bit 😅
That cake looked yummy. Enjoyed this very much. I love that I can relate to so many things you mention even though I'm American. I love that version ofThe Railroad Children. I just finished reading Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte, all because of your trip to Howorth last week. Thank you ladies for such quality content. 💕💐
Oh that’s so lovely to hear, Diane! Thank you! Hope you have a lovely weekend xxx
I love the idea of decorating a kitchen in rhubarb and custard colors! My former kitchen had pale yellow walls, which I loved. It was liked whipped eggs or the inside of a lemon. I love going to my local farmer's market in the summer and early fall, heavenly! The cake looks marvelous! I haven't read Jane and Prudence yet, but it sounds like a perfect choice for now. I just started The Stone of Chastity by Margery Sharp. My mom has a birthday in June too! A lovely month. :)
It really was the prettiest kitchen! Your reading sounds fun; I enjoy Margery Sharp! Have a lovely weekend! xxx
I love your Dresses they are so cute
So enjoy the videos with you and your Mom. Just curious, are you an only child? I have two children , boy and girl, and am about your Mom's age, and must say, it makes me so happy to see mother and daughter enjoying time together, and feel a kindred spirit with you both, as I am very close with my daughter. To put it into perspective, most Americans are watching the Kardashians, while we are up late watching "Cranford". 😊 I must ask, was that a Persohpone tea towel I spied on your mother's lap? 😊
Thank you! Yes, I’m an only child & those are Persephone napkins that we use. Definitely Cranford over the Kardashians for me too 😂
I really enjoy this video and loved the look of the cake you both make and the books . Very much interested in the Yorkshire one .🙂
Thank you very much! xxx
Ooooh delicious..I'll give rhubarb cake a try 😋
Miranda, I'm going to admit to pausing the vlog to find that cake recipe!!! I just have to make it!!!!!
You read from the The Wild Remedy, a book that I love and what can I say about the Petersham book....... my goodness.
Have a happy weekend now ......... thank you xx
It’s a winner of a recipe, Anita! I’m sure you’ll love it too! Isn’t the Petersham book incredible?! Enjoy your weekend 😊
Another wonderful video. On my bedside table at the moment I have Miss Buncle’s book and Civil to Strangers . I do have rhubarb growing in my garden but it will be some time before it is ready . I think it takes 2 years! Happy birthday to you Donna and I’m sure Miranda will spoil you x
Thank you very much! How fun to grow your own rhubarb! xxx
You guys are the cutest, food, books tea and I love your dress! I am an instant follower!
Just love you two.. oh that looks yummy♥️♥️
I didn’t dare to hope for this one, looking forward 🤗
Yay! Hope you enjoy it 💕🫖📚
I have a question for your next Q&A session, maybe it was asked already, but how quickly do you read? I don't watch a lot of telly and read a lot, but nowhere near to how much you are going through. Do you have any tips on how to read more/quicker whilst still enjoying it? Thank you. Maggie.
Thank you! You may want to check out my Reading Habits Q&A video: ruclips.net/video/xMTzVGLzPqw/видео.html
I’m reading the Wild Remedy as well!! Funny! Just finished The Muse pretty good. Great video the cake looks fab!
Thanks very much! xxx
Hi! I am loving your summer dresses! Would you share where you are getting them from?
This dress is an old one from Cabbages & Roses xxx
@@MirandaMills It is lovely. I enjoy your fashion choices!
Question for your Q&A. How is living in England different from France and the US? And do you see yourself living somewhere else in the future? Thanks.
Thanks for the question!
New sub here Miranda :) I can't believe I haven't come across your channel until now - it's got everything I love! Really enjoy the videos with your mum where you bake yummy treats together :) Country life looks heavenly, but is there anything either of you find you miss now that you're based in Yorkshire?
Oh that’s lovely- thanks so much! And thanks for your question 😊
I agree Miranda, TV adaption was not good. Music was so annoying .
I didn’t really enjoy the pursuit of love tv series either. It sort of missed the mark for me.
