After a mutiny kills all the trained crew members aboard a generation ship, the rest are left to fend for themselves. Over generations they devolve into believing that the interior of this ship is the entire UNIVERSE! And a religion springs up around it.
The short story 'Universe' was later combined with a sequel at which point it became a novel called "Orphans of the Sky".
From the claustrophobic confines of a generation ship to the awe-inspiring wonders of the unknown universe, Heinlein's narrative transports us to worlds both familiar and alien, challenging our perceptions and igniting our imagination.

One of the first SF stories I ever read. Here is the magic of Robert Heinlein, before the controversies of later years. This magic enthralled many young readers and sparked an endless love for Science-Fiction. Some of these youths sought careers in the space industry. A connection from fiction to reality that continues to this day at Space X and other space industries.
The short story Universe was the basis for Heinlein's novel, Orphans Of The Sky.
This was one of my first SF books. I still have a copy. It made such an impact. That a large portion of the population, will not accept the truth even when their life's depend on it and they have clear evidence. More relevant today then it ever was.

Not my favourite RAH. Has some interesting ideas about truth, and belief.
But for me, not in the same league as Tunnel in the sky or Farmers.
