My hemoglobin is between 8.7 and 10.0, the higher being in the warm months. I am a determined hiker in National Parks and elsewhere. I must always be aware of elevation gain on hikes, and over what distance. Level hiking isn't a problem, but will get out of breath on steep hikes. Just have to stop to catch my breath, and sit down. A hike might take twice as long to do. I have CAD, and Renaud's, where skin turns purple when exposed to cold weather.
