- Daoiri Farrell - The little drummer
It's Daoiri who is playing, not me. I've trim the recording from an interview found on internet.
Lyrics :
One fine summer’s mornin' both gallant and gay
Twenty-four ladies went down on the quay
And a regiment of soldiers did soon pa** 'em by
A drummer and one of them soon caught his eye
He went to his comrades and to them did say
"Twenty-four ladies I saw yesterday
Oh, and one of those ladies she has me heart won
And if she denies me I’m surely undone."
Go off to this woman and tell her your plight
Go and tell her she's wounded your poor hеart inside
Go and Tell her shе's wounded your poor heart full sore
And if she denies you what can you do more
So, early next morning this young man arose
And he dressed himself up in a fine suit of clothes
With a watch in his pocket and a cane in his hand
He saluted those ladies as he walked down the strand
Well, he walked up to her and he says, "Pardon me
Pardon me lady for making so free
Me fine honoured lady, you have my heart won
And if you deny me, I’m surely undone."
Go off little drummer now what do you mean
For I'm the lord’s daughter of Ballykisteen
I’m the lords daughter of honour you see
Go little drummer your making too free
So, he put on his hat and he bade her farewell
Saying, "I’ll send my soul down to heaven or hell
For with this long pistol that hangs by me side
I’ll put an end to me own dreary life."
Come back little drummer now what do you mean
For I do not want to be guilty of sin
To be guilty of innocent blood for to spill
Come back little drummer I’m here at your will
Oh, and we’ll hire a car down to Bansha we’ll go
There we’ll be married in spite of our foes
For what can you say when it’s over and done
That I fell in love with the roll of your drum
If you know great little irish musician, share me the name, i will check if i found interesting live session to upload.
what instrument is that?

G'day from Australia 🦘🐨👍 well done ✅🏆 love that Irish music 🎶
Daori ....what a talent Sir!
I honestly love the passion in this version, definitely more than the one in the album.
OK, I have just bought a Bouzouki and this is my goal now. Freaking awesome!
Feckin brilliant
Good on ya U
That is just wonderful, the song, the musicianship, chords & harmonies, and the singing! Hairs up on arms job - for the next fortnight.
Rolls his eyes as he butchers the chord at 2:29 but keeps singing with a smirk. So cool!
Yeah ... Daoiri is so skilled. If only i could sing & play at the same time ...
@@hstnaerg6711 It must take both talent and practice to perform so effortlessly. Love those subtle variations on the descending runs between the verses.
@@lochlannlads2392 Yeah. This is why this tune is so good to listen !
Have listened to this a load of times and just heard that mistake and went back to see his expression. What a legend
Thing is, if he hadn't have made that face, not a lot of people would've noticed, because the bass note DID fit as a passing tone.
I love the authenticity when he fucks up, smiles about it and just keeps going and still lets the video go online. There's beauty in that
So exquisite singing and song ever Daoiri got the touch ever thank you
Unbelievable what a fantastic talent..what the Industry needs...
Mon daoiri ya boya🇮🇪🎙🎸🥁

I grew up within two miles of Ballykisteen, Co. Tipperary.
I'm in the U.S. so it's a long way to Tipperary. (Sorry, I just had to.)
Great! Try to preserve Irish music heritage. You have a great culture ! Will be great to discover new band !
when the first second of your video is the most replayed you know you've got something. thanks for posting this.
Yes, thanks to Daoiri. This live studio is awesome !
Beautiful ❤
Pure class
Great stuff
Daoiri is one of the best irish bouzouki guys out there. his voice and feeling is outstanding!
I thought that was a greek instrument, not Irish...?
@@-jank-willson thats true original its a common greek Instrument, but it came very popular in the 65/66 through Johhny Moynihan and Andy Irvine+Donal Lunny.
The irish bozouki back is flat while the classic greek have a roundback.
@@lanszer eh i think irish music should focus on their own traditional instruments like harps, irish flutes and drums, mandolin, maybe appalachain dulcimers could count?
@@-jank-willson Well Music is always developing and in process. If no one would try something Else, we would t have much diversity. For me Bouzouki and Banjo Are absolutly related to irish Music and i would Not miss them. But thats my opinion, you might have a other view and thats ok.
@@-jank-willson Well. Irish Bouzouki is 200% into Irish Music Culture Heritage now. It's part of their "traditional" instruments. Yes, they took the greek bouzouki and transform it for their needs. But like every country did with the Bagpipe or the hurdy gurdy (There is at least thirty different version of bagpipe all around Europe) also or the flute and whistle. What you call Irish Flutes have nothing from Irish since it came from the french "flageolet" used in France in Medieval Era. If the Irish Flute is a traditional Irish Instrument for you, then, the Irish Bouzouki is also one.
Excellent and bravo!🇬🇧
This is exceptionnally great, thanks a lot for the upload.
Bouzouki is such a beautiful instrument when mastered as well as Daoiri does, and his voice is just as awesome.
I'm really glad i discovered this artist, once again thanks for uploading it :)
Glad you liked it. It's not easy to find irish band who are not than famous. Daoiri was one of those rare treasure you found on internet when you don't expect it.
Nice!
Hup! Great stuff
Absolutely outstanding. Soon as I aquire a bouzouki I'll be learning this one.
Héhé. Nice to hear that ! Enjoy Bouzouki !
@@hstnaerg6711 Will do.
👍👍👍👍👍✌
Upyahboysyah!!! :-)
Loved it. I play guitar. I would like to get sheet music for this song. Chords are available but not details on finger style. Thanks!
I don't think than it exist. You can search on internet or playing it by trusting your melodic ears. You will need an irish bouzouki anyway. You can't play it on standard guitar.
Genius. Love this. but Fergie and Knockanoor are my absolute faves. This is what happens when old skills come into new hands. Well done.
I prefer Little Drummer and Pat Rainey from Daoiri.
In plain Dutch: jemig wat is die gast goed! Heerlijk Iers accent ook.
Ja! :D
That is a lovely tune ... thank you for uploading it! What is the tuning on your Bouzouki?
I'm not sure. I will say GDAD since it's the tuning used by Daoiri Farrell. Look if the note match with the video. :)
You can send him an email to ask, he answer sometimes and give advice. Daoiri is really friendly !
It's definitely GDAD, as Høst suggests. It's the typical Irish zouki tuning, as it provides drone tones, just like DADGAD for guitar.
If your looking for another eargasm, creggan white hare should be your next stop
I know, but i try to share other songs than popular ones.
Those traditional Irish BBQ potato chips look good.
Regarding what. Recording.
Awesome... what's the tuning of the Bouzouki for this tune?
I'm not sure. I will say GDAD since it's the tuning used by Daoiri Farrell. Look if the note match with the video. :)

@@hstnaerg6711 I bought a bouzouki on the strength of this video. It is totally awesome. Do you know where I can get his email from?
@@iamthereforeimustbe Great to heard ! Which model did you bought ? :)
All his contact info are on his website : www.daoiri.com/
You need to contact Terry first. Then, depending on your request, he will transfert your mail to Daoiri.
@@hstnaerg6711 I just bought a second hand Blue moon one to try it. The action was pretty unplayable to start with, but with fret levelling, making a new (lower) bridge, a tweak to the trust rod and some new strings, it now plays like a dream.
Thanks for the info. I’ve emailed and see where it gets me.
@@iamthereforeimustbe Perso, i play with "soft" strings. I don't remember strengh. I have a second hand Joe Folley, it coast me a lot and the original string were too strong to be able to play with. You need to have the string close to the table. Mine don't have a trust rod so getting softer string was the only way to bring the string closer to the table. :D
Glad to heard than you enjoy the bouzouki ! It's a wonderful instrument !
i've too much instrument, perso. Nyckelharpa, Hurdy gurdy, bagpipe, irish bouzoushi, guitar, bass, davul drum, ... don't know anymore what to play. xD
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Chapter by Chapter / Verse by Verse !!!!!!!
Whoops. Someone disliked the video. Fix it RUclips
How can something like this not be known by millions but auto tune fookers are gettin no1s
I've just trim it from a youtube channel. It was part of a "long" interview. I've cut the interview to allow people to listen this wonderfull recording of "The little drummer".
@@hstnaerg6711 but still less than 100 000 views in this long .. that mumble rap shit they make millions on shit... this guy is really good
@@johnmason1777 It's even worse for Irish folk band less known than Daoiri sadly. :(
Pretty fucked up tbh
Too loud . Ballance not good
It's the best recording i could find on internet. It's pretty ok on my "expensive" sound system.
Wow!
