I grew up in the US, but my ancestors came from the lands of Scotland, Wales and Ireland in the 1700 and 1800 hundreds. There's something about the wonderful music from these lands that grabs my spirit.. maybe it's in the DNA. Thank you so much for sharing this!!
I have theory that the tone, timing and cadence are what we find familiar, particularly a drone. Listen to Nepali folk musicians who play the sarangi. It’s not a great leap to compare the sound to West African banjos, lilting Irish fiddles, Scottish or even Arabic bagpipes or the Appalachian dulcimer. It’s literally music to our developed ears over the millennia.
I just love this song, the last time I heard it sung live on a "Johnny Moynihan" (as I would call it) was in Dingle. A beautiful sound and tone coming form that instrument and immaculately performed young man. Well done all!
Just beautiful Jon. You have a new fan just on the strength of your bouzouki playing, but beautiful singing to go with. Top performance. I look forward to discovering more of your music. Kudos.
So so so beautiful ❤️ song Where could I get this instrument? Where could I find this instrument? How can I get this instrument? In our country we never get this instrument.
Not even singing to the sound track let alone playing along with it?????? No.....some improvement is needed here. I don't think enough practice time was put in before recording and trying to lip sing in sync with the real song. But please keep working that's how we all improve. An old man (80 yrs) and I took my first violin lesson at age 10, doing some kind of music since then. Not good but well practiced and keeping on "keeping on until my fingers die, well maybe me also!
You can feel this song while playing it. There is nothing more beautiful in the world. Instrument, voice and spirit are one. Just wonderful.
oo! handsome voice!! I've disovered your msuic for the first time tonight.. October 19th. Thank you for your music!

Wow!!! Bravissimo!!! Very talented singer and zuki player!!!
Beautiful arrangement and beautifully performed. Can you please tell what strings you use? They allow wonderful tone and nuance in the dynamics.

Don't separate mics into two channels as extremely. It sounds very odd with headphones. Very good performance.
Agreed. A better balance would have been more realistic.
Give the lyrics room, breathe...
OK So let's hear your rendition then!
You're sounding old Dara. Have you tried it at .75 speed. Might be more to your liking.
It's his choice, I respect that. There are many possibilities. This is close to Paul Brady's job and it's fine to me.
@@brendandunne4401 well, someone has to try and sound old, and wise, ‘cause you’re obviously not attempting it.
@@edelahaye Paul doesn’t phrase it anything like this.
