my father was an alcoholic, who abused my disabled mom and cheated on her several times hence why i now have around 5 siblings from other mothers. he died in 2017 from alcohol poisoning when i was just 13 years old. at first i was glad, i thought he deserved, in 2019 i thought i forgave him. now i understand i dont need to forgive him to feel closure. i hate what you did to my mom and other women. i hate that im the only one from my siblings that didnt go to child care home. i hate that even though i never had you i still missed you like a phantom pain. i hate that you said i was just an accident, but if you were still here i would show you how far your accident went no matter how much pain ive beared through all those years. i hope if theres an afterlife, we will never meet there.

I’d rather live with him than a woman who’s nearly drowned me before because she thought my hair was greasy and I didn’t look ‘presentable’. This was long I’m sorry.
I know it's not necessarily the most trustworthy coming from a stranger, but as someone with a a lot of experience with abuse I can say that those threats of self-harm are almost always *just* threats to control you. I dont think she'd actually do it if you left, but even if she tried, that's just further abuse in an attempt to manipulate you and therefore not your fault. It's scary, and it feels bad, but if you have the opportunity to improve your life I hope you take it. Wishing you the best friends.

He moved to Illinois to live with her shortly before my Pawpaw (his dad) passed away. Now I can only see him on holidays when his work lets him take off. Due to his alcohol abuse, I have to have another adult present when he visits. It used to be his girlfriend, but since my brother turned 18, it's been him. I haven't seen my father since Christmas last year (2021), since he couldn't attend my brother's graduation or come for Christmas this year. The last couple visits haven't been very smooth. I had a panic attack at my Gran's (his mom's) funeral and I didn't go anywhere except the hotel with him last time due to my anxiety. Thankfully, my stepdad is the best dad I could ever ask for, so he makes up for my father's shortcomings.

I really love this song but I almost feel bad for listening to it. My dad isn’t the best one out there but I still love him, and I know he loves me too. He’s made some mistakes and shit but he’s trying his best and I’m just happy he is. My issues lie with my mum. The woman’s manipulated, beaten and tried her best to isolate me from the rest of my family. I’m not allowed to see anyone outside of my ‘close family’ which means it’s just her and my dad cause I’m an only kid. My parents are divorced and I have to live with her until I’m 16 and can try move in with my dad, and she tries her damn hardest to make me hate my dad, and make me feel like shit for wanting to live with him. She’s threatened me with su*cide before, telling me her blood would be on me and my dads hands if I ever left her. I hate it here. I just wanna move in with my dad. I’ve got a couple months left until I’m 16 and I’m just trying to power through it, and I’m scared and stressed about what she’s gonna do to stop me from moving with him, I’m scared she’ll bring up something my dad did in the past and use that for reasoning why ‘it’s unsafe for me to live with him’. I’d rather live with him than a woman who’s nearly drowned me before because she thought my hair was greasy and I didn’t look ‘presentable’.

I know it's not necessarily the most trustworthy coming from a stranger, but as someone with a a lot of experience with abuse I can say that those threats of self-harm are almost always *just* threats to control you. I dont think she'd actually do it if you left, but even if she tried, that's just further abuse in an attempt to manipulate you and therefore not your fault. It's scary, and it feels bad, but if you have the opportunity to improve your life I hope you take it. Wishing you the best friends.

My father is a "former" alcoholic who divorced my mom when I was a baby. Immediately after they divorced, he got back with his ex-girlfriend and they have a daughter together (my half-sister, whom I love dearly). He moved to Illinois to live with her shortly before my Pawpaw (his dad) passed away. Now I can only see him on holidays when his work lets him take off. Due to his alcohol abuse, I have to have another adult present when he visits. It used to be his girlfriend, but since my brother turned 18, it's been him. I haven't seen my father since Christmas last year (2021), since he couldn't attend my brother's graduation or come for Christmas this year. The last couple visits haven't been very smooth. I had a panic attack at my Gran's (his mom's) funeral and I didn't go anywhere except the hotel with him last time due to my anxiety.
Thankfully, my stepdad is the best dad I could ever ask for, so he makes up for my father's shortcomings.
