    Whenever I watch stuff like this I wonder, historically, how many unlucky people did society have to go through before someone figured out how to eat these foods safely.

    • @oliverf.68
      @oliverf.68 3 года назад +9

      Well the most primitive cultures of humanity did most of the figuring, at least in the places where they lived, centuries later their descendants already know what was good or wasn't, problem is, migration, when men started to travel to distant lands for trade or conquer they were presented with stuff new to them so unless they had locals telling them what was good or bad they were on their own.

      I was wondering the same thing. I wonder how many babies died because of honey. My mom use to give me some kind of horrible tasting home meds and add honey or sugar so I could swallow it. My mom was a great mom, but she did once have me blow into a kids mouth thinking I could cure him of trash mouth because I'm the 7th child of a 7th child. Idk but it probably didn't work. 😣

    I’m from Jamaica and the simple thing with akee is that you make sure to only consume the ones that open naturally, and that you remove the hard seed and the pinkish flesh from the middle. Also don’t eat them raw, people that come here think that just because it’s called a fruit your meant to just pick it off the tree and pop them in. They are to be cooked (with some sort of meat usually saltfish) and eaten with something like rice, dumpling or bread.

      The ghost pepper lost it's crown as the world's hottest pepper a long time ago. Hotter than the ghost are the Trinidad scorpion pepper, the Carolina reaper, and if I'm not mistaken, the chocolate reaper is the world's current hottest.

    I'm sick and tired of people that tells me to "just cut the green parts off the potato and you can eat it". The green part is chlorophyll, solanin does not have any color. If you don't keep potatoes in the dark, the amount of both solanin and chlorophyll will rise, the latter will make it green, and that's an indication that there's too much solanin in the entire potato.

    What does a live octopus taste like though. I imagine it has no kind of seasoning on it, so not only are you eating something that can stop you from breathing, it probably doesn't even taste like it was worth the risk.

    Thanks for the information, but one thing I don't know if you have covered but if you guys can rank them that would be excellent. What is the number one food not to eat that could cause gout?
    If anyone wants to know gout is actually a accumulation of uric acid in the joints specifically most common in the big toe which cause excruciating pain. It's a form of arthritis that flares up now and again if with poor diet and certain foods. Some are actually considered as healthy foods. Also other foods that could be ranked is foods that could cure or clear gout out faster.

    ... I can testify to the excruciating effect of eating green potato , when I visited a friend that lived in a converted pigsty in north wales , when I prepared a meal , it was already night , and there was only a dim low wattage bulb , that night , the nausea began , for days afterwards , I was racked with pain , semi-paralysed , even moving my eyes was like my eye sockets were lined with sandpaper. LESSON LEARNED.

    I was once allergic to cinnamon when I was younger, it wasn't serious just acted like itching power to me if I eat something with cinnamon. Now that I grew out of it I loved cinnamon based foods but when this said that cinnamon could kill me I was worried but luckily it's only the cinnamon challenge that is the thing that could kill someone, I honestly thought that challenge was stupid to begin with

    Literally every kind of food can kill you. It varies depending of the amount of it you consume. For some, it would need a crazy among, while in others just a few g would be enough. For example, you can literally die from drinking too much water. In that particular case, your insides would not be able to absorve the minerals and vitamines you need because of drinking too much water (or any liquid for that matter. Yes, it would take a crazy amount of water to cause that effect, but its still possible. Too much of anything, no matter how healphy it is, can and will hurt you. And in the worse case scenario, you ll die from it

    I and my husband got Salmonella. It was extremely painful. It can also cause muscle pain throughout your body. It made my right arm hurts for days, where it made my husband's hips and sides of his rips hurt for days. It can be treated, but it isn't fun to have, and is sadly something you can catch easily too, even at higher end restaurants.

    • @RinJackson
      @RinJackson 3 года назад

      If you're consuming spoonfuls of cinnamon (like in the cinnamon challenge they mentioned), that would be the problem. Whatever comes in Cinnamon Toast Crunch won't kill you unless you eat excessive amounts of it. As for milk, they specifically pointed out the non pasteurized version, so whatever you pour into your bowl of cereal should be fine

    I've heard that farm grown pufferfish aren't entirely poisonous, at least most parts aren't anyway. Heard that out in the wild, wild pufferfish eat types of coral and shellfish that are very poisonous. Poisonous to us, but, not poisonous to the pufferfish.
