Lots of people asked about the bends. No two EZ bars are alike. These work great. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Kensui bar, which is what a lot of people compare curl bars to. For me, that too many bends and too sharp of an angle, but it's more of a preference thing. I wouldn't overthink the angles. Do hammer curls with a neutral grip barbell or dumbbells and get an EZ bar with shallower angles.

Upright rows was my favorite exercise in high school and I did them religously for a year and a half. I got numerous complements on my shoulders and upper traps and they were developed. In college I keep lifting but didnt use upright rows as much. As a baseball pitcher I threw a lot and lifted 4 days/week. I tore my rotator cuff so severely in my junior year that my baseball career was over and I've never fully healed from the injury. Years later Jeff at Athlean X described what happens during the upright row exercise and I thought, hhhmmm. I dont know if my favorite exercise ruined my shoulder or not but I'm certain it did not help the shoulder's structure. I still love the exercise but, obviously dont do them and are they the shoulder killer they are made out to be, well who knows, I for sure dont know. They work though, I can honestly say if you want nice shoulders and upper traps, upright rows is one of the best exercises but be careful. Take Care
Good review, sir. I've enjoyed my Kensui Kyoto Rackable Curl Bar, which has a few more bends, great knurling, I actually use it a lot for pressing movements.
Nice video. I'm a bos fan for most of there bars. That bar looks to be a lot better than my xprt fitness 6' rackable curl bar that I have since like you said the knurling is everywhere. In all honesty I bought mine for the looks since it was on sale...I thought it would be cool to have hang on the wall. I have never even used mine. Instead I have 4' ez curl bars (28mm, 25mm and a 28mm super curl bar) that i do use. Mine are from CAP (except the 25mm is from elevens).
Thanks! Honestly, I rarely use mine at all. I've had 3 up to now and am selling all 3. gonna go with the curl bar by bare steel equipment. Great knurl, larger diameter, really looking forward to getting it in my gym.
Tim, on RUclips type in Athlean X & upright rows. Just dont want to see you hurt, I did upright rows religiously and I also tore my rotator cuff in college. Jeff has the best info on that exercise IMO Just trying to help Take Care
Upright rows have been a source of arguments among trainers for many years. There are good cases on both sides. Jeff knows his stuff (except how to put a shirt on), and you def won't miss anything by not doing them. But a lot of people do and using this bar def helps.
They are good. No two curl bars are alike, so I never really pay too much attention. As long as they aren't crazy and close to 90 degrees. I do hammer curls in other ways. A less than 45 degree bend is what I've always used and all 3 curl bars in my gym right now fit that description.
There is no standard for EZ bars. Every one is a bit different. I currently own 3 and all three are slightly different. I wouldn't overthink that part of things. There are several companies who market that they have specially researched angles and that's just bs marketing. I prefer a bit shallower of an angle and not quite 45 degrees, so I like this one. I don't like the bars that have an almost 90 degree angle as I use my neutral grip bar to do barbell hammer curls with and don't want/need that in an EZ bar. But for the most part, I've never really had a preference from one curl bar to the next.

Question for ya.... inteterested in reps black diamond barbell , has your stainless remained stainless or should i go with coated?
@@farmersgrip Rep fixed their stainless issue years ago. those original power bars were a problem, but not at all with any of their new line of bars.

All reasons I don't program them for my clients. Same with the military press. There are other, safer ways to train the same muscles.

That's def a bendy bar!
You are the trainer I have heard mention the wrist solution using a curl bar for close grip benching. Great solution!
Thanks!
As always. Fantastic insights and great value. 👍

You can’t convince me that’s not Basement Brandon on your hoodie…🙈
It might be! I'll ask Kaevon next time I talk to him!
How about the bends? You didn’t mention anything about how the bends feel with different exercises.

The angle of the curl bar is non-standard - how did you find it? Do you notice the difference from a standard curl bar? If so, what do you prefer?
