- Rock Elemental, Rock Golem, whatever you want to call it. It's probably one of the most difficult tames in the amount of resources you need to be prepared for it. It requires explosives to knock it out, i.e. Rockets and Cannonballs. I can't even begin to tell you how much those cost in terms of metal and other materials, I just know that a mid level Golem might take around 15 cannon balls before it is knocked out. Oh! this is not to mention that they only take torpor damage on headshots, and if you land the hit on their body it deals a massive amount of damage while not increasing torpor. I tell you, it's a massive headache.

Really appreciate the effort to science everything! Also like how you are straight to the point and don't pad out ur vids with waffle and 'youtuber' bullsh*t. I will say however yours are some of the most expensive golem traps I've ever seen :) No probs if you have a few people or have harvesting turned up but for a newer player farming 3 cannon/ ammo/ trap on official would be quite the undertaking only to see them broken before the knockout is half done.
I've seen many designs over the years and have tested most. A single, shielded cannon on a pillar stack and some dino gates for trap is very effective and cheap once u have the distances figured out. Test your design in wood/ stone before committing to metal imo.

Can I use a Mantis equipped with clubs ? And I’m guessing after tamed it eats the same stuff rock clay

I have a simple trap consisting of 6 Dino gets five in a semi circle and two in front(so the rock throw can’t u /cannon)

set a flyer to passive and follow distance highest then jump off, rock golem following you will stop and stare at flyer while you shoot.

They work just ALOT of them
Now that you mention it, I never did knock one out with rockets. When I did score headshots, the Golem would make the animation like it took torpor damage, so I assumed it was working, especially since the wiki does have values for the rockets, even when dododex didn't.
I just had the problem of the rocket turret and rocket launcher having such a low durability that they kept breaking before either the Golem died or was knocked out. And when I was using a trap, rockets would just break the trap holding the Golem or explode on the edge of the ceiling and break the launcher. Rockets are just such a pain to use in this context.
Tecorsuh you need two rocket launchers and near 40 rockets for a lvl 5 ( personal experience )

I just tamed a 168 solo luckily it was by my base and i had extra sinos lol cause i just built pillars all around it and just placed a foundation infront of it and knocked it out like that, i made the pillars tall enough to block the rock throw

They just appreciate your hard work and let you tame them anyway.
oversized trap, just use 3 metal pillars and a foundation for the cannon then boom easy tame without using a lot of resources

Solo taming here, threw a cannon on my quetz platform and just flew about head height, jumped on the cannon and hopped for the best lol.

So what is the point of taming one? Are they any good in boss fights? I do not play PvP and I wonder if it’s worth the effort.
Good for wyvern trenches, set them in turret mode and lure any wyverns out over to them and they take care of the rest
A simpler trap is 5 ston Dinosaur gates put one and then two either side with 45 degree slope remove the middle one it will get stuck and all you need to do is aim the cannon and knock it out

Search Captain Fatdog's golem trap if you want to tame a rock elemental. He has a much simpler trap design that lets you get max tame % because it blocks the splash damage, blocks the rock golem's boulder and has no trap door to close that makes it easily done solo. I have tamed lots of golems with his trap design the only thing I do different is not put the two triangle sloped roofs that point toward the golem and use two rows of pillars on each side of the trap to lock in the golem as it sometimes is finicky to get him all the way into the trap as shown in Captain Fatdog's video. The trap shown in this video is way over built and no splash damage block nor stops boulders. Good/useful information after trap part tho.

Taming a rock golem is just like taming a titanosaur, but the titan much harder to tame. It’s long neck gets in the way.

Before this video i saw a video saying. EASY NOOB ROCK ELEMENTAL TAME NO TRAP NEEDED. It involved using a flier ect. Didnt work very well for me. First try with this on 150, flawless, caught another 145 flawless right after. Only input is this. The stone pillars that actually trap the golem. Specifically the 4 or 5, ( do a row of 5 ), that the golem will actually be stopped by, the ones you will be shooting through. So columns 1, 2,3,4 n 5. Make the odd number columns only four high but the even number ones make them six Hi at least. Because of the size of the Golan, those high pillars will prevent him from throwing rocks over the top of the four high pillars, in fact because of the higher pillars it’s like he gets stuck and doesn’t even attempt to throw anything and where the pillows are four high. If you make sure that your Canon is directly out from that position, since he’s targeting you he will stand where his head is right above the four high but either column On either side is too high for him to throw. And he just stands there and takes blows to the face.

Rock Elementals do not have a gender, and cannot be bred without mods.
Yeah no I built the pillars two taller than you did in the video and he jumped it like it was nothing. Even managed to climb the metal structure. Trying to use the video for the new lost island map and it’s sucks that I just wasted so much steel for nothing.

I knocked out a spino with my giga, I don't know why I was using a giga, but on the way, I trampled a turtle. So after the spino was asleep, I saw this turtle running at me. It just walked past me and the spino, so I thought it was fine, but then it bit my giga. With one chomp, the giga killed the turtle and the spino I just knocked out out at the same time.

Best way to get a ton of prime meat is to breed to Ovis (sheep) and do not imprint on the baby. When it dies you get a ton of mutton and prime meat.

You can use mods. Ragnarok (a DLC)for example has Scorched Earth Creatures and is a wonderfull map
Valguero is a free map, it has rock elemetals.

I cant get obsidian
Obsidian can be harvested on mountains on TheIsland, Scorched Earth, Ragnorok, Valguero, TheCenter, ect. They weigh as much as metal, so beware. Argies are good for carrying obsidian because they have 50% weight reduction. Also, mountains can have gigas, raptors, rexes, carnos, allos, sabertooth and alphas. So be careful up there.

All you need to tame a rock element is a griffin one stone foundation one cannon and some cannonballs. Then some wood spikes around it after you knock it out. Just fly the Griffin right above it where I can’t reach and cannot throw a rock and it cannot hit you it will just stay right there get off your Griffin and place your foundation in Canaan. The settings on the Griffin need to make sure that it is following you at the highest so it will not land. Also target the highest. It will just sit there as well your Griffin as long as you don’t go too far away which you do not need to be. Works for all flyers except for the Arg. Works best with a griffin. Make sure to clear your area and it’s the easiest tame you’ll ever have
