At first, when I was learning Hangul, I was trying to compare every letters to something familiar, what does it look like, etc. But then I found out .. the letters itself is sort of user manual, showing you the right way of pronunciation , remembering became very easy
I would also add that stylistically it's just a very beautiful design and when you get used to writing it by hand it really flows effortlessly.
Actually that's what made me more passionate about learning korean & one of the main reasons why I started learning the language. The writing system is so unique and the story behind the creation of Hangul is so impressive and inspiring. Thanks to King Sejong for this amazing creation!

Hangul is not the only writing system with a national holiday. Bulgarian alphabet has a national holiday as well and it is also one of the most important holidays in the country. 😊

Cyrillic you mean the thing that saint Cyrill (I think it was written) made was very different
i just realised that -ssaem is Sensei in korean . the actual word is 선셍님. and 선셍 is 先生

Totally agree... except Hebrew is slightly better, because it has optional vowels, which makes it ultra-efficient.
But yes, Korean is the next best, and the syllable structures are wonderful!!! Once you get used to patchim, consonant assimilation etc. its sooo logical 😄❤

I'm not Korean, and I think it's the most efficient writing system. The fact that the letters represent the shape of the mouth and area of articulation means that you could say that it is a universal alphabet that could be applied to other languages.

That's why I gave up learning Chinese in 4th grade. It was so hard to learn. But at 29 Hangul was way more easier to learn.
That's a pretty big jump from 4th grade to 30 LOL. I bet Chinese would be easier now too? I mean ur not a litle kid, you can focus better.
but chinese grammar is easy compared to korean (apparently)
@@user-Korpan Not exactly easier, just different. It may not have tenses the same way that Korean and Japanese does, but it has incredibly complex character/word orders. For example to say easy sentences sure it's very simple but to say something like "I'm thinking of the guy who once told me something" that sort of grammar is arguably harder than Korean, which I'm basiucally fluent in.
@@user-Korpan It's weird.... Easy grammar like 我昨天見到了他 Means "난 어제 그를 만났어" but becauise there's no spaces it's already confusing a f. Plus you have to know the Hanja first.... which changes based on the characters around it. The meaning can change I mean... It's so freakin confusing. Meanwhile Hangul is the greatest writing system ever created 🤣🤣 , even better designed than English I think. I mean most of that is coincidence, but the spelling is much mroe phonetic and easier to understand. In fact, the only HARD thing about Hangul is SINO Korean and the Chinese influence on Hangul/Korean..... It's infuriating!!
So, anyway, I think that the grammar becomes just as complex if not more complex than Korean. The only difference is that It's SVO like in English, instead of SOV like in Korean and Japnese. When you have complex sentences like (Insert here) it doesn't stay easy like you would think. I tried to trnaslate some Korean sentences and Papago literally could not do it because it was too hard to translate correctly 🤣🤣. If you're learning Korean stick with that.
BTW Not being too nit picky but 학습 한국어 sounds a bit weird. It might be better to say like 한국어 학습자입니다! or 저스틴이랑 한국어를 배웁시다! Or "나랑 같이 한국어를 배워! or 우리 같이 한국어를 배우자. or 나는 한국어 학습하고 있다! Like LEarn Korean with me , Justine. Or I am a Korean learner. Or somethign liek this. I think it's grammatically correct but it sounds weird unless you are talking about it like " 영어 학습" or "한국어 학습" Like it's one thing . I could be super wrong though. I just know what sounds right, not what's 100% correct. I want to become an expert one day. It's probably fine ..... I'm just being weird lol
@@alexfriedman2047 my korean friends told me that the 2nd and 3rd word should be swapped but an an example, (at least in english) sometimes titles/names of things are spelled wrong on purpose. A bar in my city "Joe Kool's" instead of cool.

인정합니다. 한국어를 배우는 미국인이고 솔직히 제 생각에 한글은 영어 알파벳보다 정말 더 쉬워요 ㅋㅋ. 그나저나, 한자/중국어를 할 수 있나요??? 근데 한국사람이세요? 중국어는 어떻게 배웠어요? 한자와 중국어 발음 진짜 힘들어요. 원래 중국어에 관심이 있었지만 한자를 잘 못 했어요. 빨리 그만두었어요 ㅋㅋ.
But hey, yo, is it ok to say "어떻게 영어를 배웠다?" like "How did you learn English" or "How did you learn Korean?" Or does it sound weird to say 어떻게 first? I was looking up sentences and I couldn't find 1 that had 어떻게 as the first word.
Edit PS. - Is there another way to say " I'm an American *who is* learning Korean." Or is " 한국어를 배우는 미국인이다" completely natural and normal?? Please let me know!! I really want to make sure I sound natural. Thanks so much for making the vids. You seem like a smart person. Thanks. :) 알려 주세요!!!
Hi! 저는 한국 사람이고 몇 년 전에 잠깐 중국어를 배웠어요. You can say 어떻게 first (어떻게 영어를 배웠어요?) & 한국어를 배우는 미국인입니다 sounds good 👍

Ahh ok thankyou. That's what I thought but for some reason online it always says the language or noun or whatever first like " Blank는 어떻게 배웠다??" That is also correct too though , right? But I always would say 어떻게 영어를 배웠어요? So I'm glad that's normal. As for the other question I was just curious if there was another way to say it and sound more native? Korean always sounds so weird when I think of it in terms of English loool.

@@YourKoreanSaem maybe also Can you tell me which is the right word for "Patience" ?? There are like 5 different words. 인내 , 끈기, 인내심, 참을성 and a couple others. Which one is the most natural / commonly used like if I wanted to use it as an adverb as in "Patiently waiting" Would it be "끈기있게 기다리고 있어요" ???? Or can I use 인내히 / 인내심하게 , etc? 알려 주세요 :) It's so confusing lol
@@alexfriedman2047 끈기 is more like grit/perseverance. For patiently waiting 참을성 있게, 인내심 있게 are both ok but I’m not sure it’s a phrase used often? It kind of seems like a literal translation for me
@@YourKoreanSaem ahh ok ok. So normally it would be something like "저는 참을성 있게 기다리고 있습니다" ???? It's really frustrating because I'm like intermediate I can pretty much say any basic thing , but I want to be closer to a native speaker and I just can't get over the hump without a tutor or teacher. I used to go to Korean school at night but I stopped going cuz of Covid. Any advice you can give me??

There are may great things about 한글 but there are problems with it as well. The worst thing about 한글 is you can't determine the meaning of the syllable without first translating it to its Chinese counterpart. For example, 문 could be the word for gate/door, e.g. 창문, or it could be the word for a written word, e.g. 신문. 한글 erases the meaning of words just like Chinese erases the pronunciation of words. It's clearly not the BEST.

And maybe easier to read. Many public signs in Korea use ABC when a word like DANGER needs ro stand out, and most Koreans I meet tell me they don't enjoy reading.
