    Anthony is a principled gentleman, he would've freaked out and wanted to save no matter whom the bee stung; this scene is about her learning he has fears and strong emotions and also showinng that she can handle that. It's more about her taking care of him (and realizing that she wants to) than him taking care of her.

      I don’t believe that. I think had it been someone he didn’t care about, his reaction more and likely would have been fear and he would run. Principled or not, there is no gentleman in fear, hence the reason he also didn’t consider how this interaction would like from a no context outsider perspective.

      @@NoFirstNoLastName I think it's demonstrating both, how much he cares for her and also how she can can take care of him when he demonstrates vulnerability. He panics because he thinks he can't save her and she swoops in and instead saves him from having a panic attack. It's very layered.

      I agree. I think it's a misunderstanding of how PTSD can impact someone too. His reaction was as much introspective, as it was concern for the person in front of him. I have a hard time believing that, if through PTSD he genuinely feared a sting would kill *whomever* that person was, he wouldn't have freaked out and shown concern. What actually made it intimate and turned it romantic, was Kate's reaction to his panic. She grounds him and draws him to her (literally) through touch, her soft calm voice, and her unwavering eye contact. She connects with him and a shift in emotion occurs ❤ Yes, he cared about her and that likely played into it as well, but knowing Anthony's story and character now, I refuse to accept that he'd have been nonchalant about it, or just run away, had someone else been stung. He would have worried and panicked still, it just wouldn't have played out the same way. He might not have let himself be so vulnerable if it had been a man perhaps, but again the reaction from the sting recipient would have been important.

    I love the way Jonathan/Anthony’s expression subtly and seamlessly transitions from being annoyed at Kate to fear after seeing the bee. A lot of actors in this series tend to be over dramatic but Jonathan does it so well.

    I love the switch in this scene. How he's asking if she can breathe as she struggles to breathe and as you said, she was the "damsel in distress" but he sort of takes over that role as she comforts him.

    Jonathan Bailey’s acting is mind blowing! In every scene of Bridgerton he delivers breath taking perfomance. They are all good actors but Bailey is whole new level of acting no doubt.

    this is one of the best scene analysis videos ive ever seen!! everything was explained so well and thoroughly! i love the attention to detail and the information of various aspects that go into filming a scene that i havent realized before such as pre choreographing the scenes/blocking and choosing which shots to take at what time to express the feelings (intimacy of the characters aligning with intimacy of the camera shots) ive gained so much insight!

    I interpreted this scene so differently 😂 but hey I guess that’s the beauty of it!
    I took it as Anthony suddenly turning into this little boy scared in front of her and she’s never seen his vulnerable side before and she’s a caretaker at heart and was able to calm him with ease. So he sees how incredible she is at calming him and she sees his true vulnerability and childlike need for care - I mean he literally had to start running a household as a teen!! He basically lost his caretakers then because dad died and mom couldn’t function for a long time without dad. He was alone and no one was there to comfort him… until now 🥺🥺🥺🥺

      I see that. There was a line at the begining of the episode where the father told Anthony "You cannot show someone your best Wtwhout allowing them to see your worst." I think this was the turning point in their relationship where he allowed. Kate to see him at his worst.

    What do you mean you wouldn't save someone who you don't care about? Of course that isn't true for a lot of people. Strangers rescuing other strangers is very much a thing. 5:42

      I agree. I’ve never read the books but I interpreted his fear as being about his father, not about her. That bee takes him back to the moment his childhood ended. Her strength and composure steady him, an experience lacking since he lost his father. The panic reveals that his behaviour toward Edwina is emotional armour not lack of character. This is the moment that creates connection between the characters. Without it, the enemies to lovers trope doesn’t make sense.

    • @Studio24inc
      @Studio24inc  7 месяцев назад +5

      You are not incorrect, some people would save someone they didn't care about. I would say with the context that one had to risk their own life or face their own fears to save another would drastically reduce the number willing to save someone they didn't care about.

      It’s been my experience that if a trauma has occurred as it did for Anthony and his father, it will most likely create a phobia. If a person with whom there was not strong emotion….say a stranger or an acquaintance turned up in a situation that activated that trauma response, the most likely scenario would be to freeze, or run away, possibly run for help or start screaming for help. For Anthony it feels like his feelings for Kate, however suppressed, and her close proximity, seeing the bee sting her, brought back the trauma of his father’s death and melded with his deep concern for her. He froze momentarily had a trauma response but did not leave her side. I think her response to him by taking his hand a reassuring him that she was okay brought to reality that it wasn’t just his father he was reacting to. And then for the time, both of them touching each other as they did would have been considered very intimate, creating more feeling between them. All these things together feels like it would have shaken Anthony to his core, which I feel is what the actor portrayed 😊

    • @NoFirstNoLastName
      @NoFirstNoLastName 7 месяцев назад +3

      I think he is referencing the trauma. Anthony more and likely if it had been a stranger would have run in fear…which would have been a perfectly acceptable response to the trauma.
      Saving a person from something you fear or have trauma is a very different thing. This is an extreme example, but take a victim of assault.
      They witness an assault happening to a stranger, and the first response would probably be fear fight or flight whereas if they will experience a loss by running away, the person they care about, they more and likely will switch to fight.
