No English person calls themself a hooligan , your a lad or a casual , you don't smash shit up as you put it , you might smash another teams pub but no just anything . Ultra is an Italian word for a lad or casual , which Europe has latched into with firework displays etc . You will never get rid of football violence , every generation will always continue to fly the flag
Ultras exists on the premis, that their club is THEIR club. Football teams are based in the city/town/village where they reside. And has been since the clubs infancy. The club is a part of the community. And it is engrained in the hearts of the citizens that it belongs to them. Thats why ultras can exist as a concept. Although the different sports clubs all are professional and has to make a living out of it … the support from the fans are essential to any club. Its not so much the mighty buck that runs the show for the ultras. Thats where the passion comes in. Never forget … sports matches are the modern world equivalent to ancient times war rivalry with the kingdom next door. So it becomes a matter of “us vs them”. This is clan rivalry in our time.
One question In Europe it is totally normal to join a club as a fan as a member you pay a yearly fee, but you also hav the right to join club meetings and elections in the club. How is that in the USA like if I am a fan can I join the club?
When are you going to react to el clásico? The 2 big rivals, Messi in Barça and Ronaldo in Madrid, now that was beautiful to watch ⚽one video: el Clásico - Best fights, fouls, dives & red cards. Now that is rivalry
The franchise system is insane to the rest of the sporting world, imagine Barcelona decide to play in Madrid, the fans in either city would refuse to accept it, and would boycott it. It goes against everything that defines you as a supporter of a club
BBC Panorama 2017: Hillsborough Disaster. How They Buried the Truth. you should really look into the Hillsborough disaster in the uk and what happened as a result to understand how the authorities got control of hooligan culture by blaming the fans for situations that the police shouldnt have let happen (or even created and lied about in court) to justify stricter laws. our stadiums are now much more family friendly environments now but there is always one main stand for the home teams 'ultra' type supporters, its creates the atmosphere and allows them to be easier controlled if needed!
Football players, even at the lower pro levels, are treated as gods. And they start to believe it. They don't care much for which club they play. Many will change rivals for little bit more money. We will not see many Batistuta's and Totti's anymore We are left with the Mbappe's and Neymars. And we, the fans, let it happen.
What this didn't explain is that some of these groups are more than just supporters. They are club members and even owner's. That can be a good or bad thing.
@@Isleofskye my point is that ultras would be too busy banging the drum and doing the hand clapping in unison to invade the pitch. You can't teach that anarchy to thickos. You can't invite Scousers anywhere.

To be fair, there's definitely an ultras culture to the Portland Timbers in MLS, but it's more like a covers band than the real thing. I don't see how America's franchise system with your clubs can ever go with a proper ultras culture.
@@timglennon6814 yes however it does give an incite into proper holligans. Northern hooligans, not southern softies, 1 blackpool hooligan could take out 3000 London hooligans
We don't call it soccer because return the word "soccer" was the name that be English Football Association, (the FA) tried to impose on the game, to try and raise it above its working class, grass roots origins, but the name was never accepted by fans in the UK,
actually the clubs dont suport this things and they usualy release announcements where they say that, the clubs want to sell tickets, so they need to give the other fans security too. but, also they dont want to lose those fans bc not all are bad and its part of the game and also ultras work like "hype mans", puting all in the stadium chanting and jumping and so on, a flair dont do nothing bad by itself, you need a bad person to do bad things. in fact in a lot of countries as in here in Portugal, some ultras need to go to the police station during the game, they cant get even close to a stadium in a game day. there are around 200 persons in Portugal with that condition.
Some of the connotations of the word ‘ultras’ isn’t very positive. I would just say fans as ultras is kind of another word for hooligan and there is bad history there.
Well---(?) .. declaring war a little bit hard to say.. We love to "love/hate" each other! Hard in (mostly) words, but we all chair the same passion :) The passion of chairing.
My thing about calling football soccer is that football is a game played with your feet and nfl is a game played with your hands (mostly) so why call nfl football when you only kick it if you are bad or have scored?
Bill Shankley, manager of Manchester United: "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."
You basically get these thing when it is linked with peoples identity. Similar to religion and all that. So yes, European teams and college football are a very apt comparison. And it's also why "franchises" wil never get these to the same extend. I support some esport franchises but at the end of the day there is no emotional attachment compared to my local club. When they won the league back in 2015-2016 you had basically everyone from the region celebrate. Even non-football fans. My mother cares little for football. She will always support our national team. Franchises can't compete with that.
7:53 It's funny, but you can't turn off ultras. The state cannot shut it down, not the club. In addition, ultras are a decades-long tradition. It's a way of life.
Ultras are not only die hard fans of the club, they tend to be extremely patriotic and invested in local community. Although in more dictatorship like countries they are often manipulated and used by the people in power and get involved in organized crime. But still they often try to fix what government fails to do on local community level. Let's put it in American terms, it's like Crips and Bloods would not spend all of their time pushing dope, throwing their neighborhoods into a shithole and killing each other, but instead trying to help out the community. Few examples from my city, Belgrade, Serbia: - Maybe 20 years back in one neighborhood of my city a serial rapist started attacking girls at night. And the streets in my country are actually safe to walk after sundown so you can imagine the impact of this for the local community. Police was ineffective so local ultras literally created a lockdown, they held some sort of neighborhood watch for over 2 weeks. And they managed to get the guy, who needed serious medical attention by trauma surgeons before he could see the judge. Police literally had to save him from ultras. - Every year at holiday season they have a fundraising, buy toys and clothes and take them to children in orphanages. It's probably weird for the kids to have a 7 ft 250 pounds tattooed Santa giving out presents, but hey, as long as the kids are having some good things in their life... - They collected money and refurbished 4 playgrounds and 1 basketball/football court in my neighborhood which were devastated by junkies and left to rot by the local authorities. They painted them and tagged them with club colors and murals so no one dares to damage those swing sets and slides anymore. Not to mention they did it for like 10 times less money than what the city would spend and there are no junkie gatherings there anymore - They refurbish the facades of old buildings that the authorities ignore. They do paint their murals and insignia, but it looks better than gray walls and plaster falling off of them - Police actually has to patrol less because there are always some ultras sitting on a bench, drinking beer and watching over the hood. Especially in the summer. So cops are happy as well So from the local neighborhood perspective ultras are actually a quite good thing to have. If they didn't get involved in crime they would be a pride of the community. BTW, ultras were the key players in bringing down Serbian dictator Slobodan Milošević back in 2000. They were on the front line, clashing with the police, swallowing tear gas and enabled protestors to push forward.
I'd like to see a club go against their Ultras. They'd lose a whole lot. If the Ultras make the decision that fans won't go to the match that day NO ONE is going to that match. It is said that the Besitas Ultras go to their seats after everybody and everyone else stands while they do so... No club with a solid Ultras group would want to go against them. At the very least, it's a bad financial decision...
Clubs can be fined if their fans set off flares, smoke bombs etc. I think I've seen you react to a video where polish fans put up huge flags and then set off lots of red flares with another flag in the centre proclaiming how much their team would be fined because of the flares and basically saying football is all about money and not passion.

The funniest thing is the chainsaw is from an MLS game lol
BBC Panorama 2017: Hillsborough Disaster. How They Buried the Truth. you should really look into the Hillsborough disaster in the uk and what happened as a result to understand how the authorities got control of hooligan culture by blaming the fans for situations that the police shouldnt have let happen (or even created and lied about in court) to justify stricter laws. our stadiums are now much more family friendly environments now but there is always one main stand for the home teams 'ultra' type supporters, its creates the atmosphere and allows them to be easier controlled if needed!
It's about time that was put to rest
All Right,guys.
In Europe we call it Football because you play a round letherball with the foot.Only the Keeper push it with his hand 😉😉😂😂
Football players, even at the lower pro levels, are treated as gods. And they start to believe it. They don't care much for which club they play. Many will change rivals for little bit more money. We will not see many Batistuta's and Totti's anymore
We are left with the Mbappe's and Neymars. And we, the fans, let it happen.
Other great examples are Spartak Moskou in the days of commumism. Patizan and Red Star from Belgrade and Dynamo Zagreb. Celtic and Rangers.
What this didn't explain is that some of these groups are more than just supporters. They are club members and even owner's. That can be a good or bad thing.
Ultras isn't really an English thing, orchestrated support. Someone comes up with a funny chant and it just flows.
I mean Crystal Palace give it a go.
True although I bet we never heard a peep out of them when Everton came back to 3/2 at Goodison to guarantee survival the other night..:)
@@Isleofskye my point is that ultras would be too busy banging the drum and doing the hand clapping in unison to invade the pitch. You can't teach that anarchy to thickos. You can't invite Scousers anywhere.
we use to say:
Fans = Torcedores, Torcida.
Super Fans (Ultras) = Fanáticos.
I don't watch American football or baseball etc ..but i do watch nba as i like basketball and i would assume it has less commercials than American football lol and it still drives me crazy sometimes 😂
As a non-USAN I feel like Greenbay is the NFL team that is closest to a "real" grassroots sports team that you'd find elsewhere rather than a franchise; though you guys have commented that Philly is closest to British fan culture.
Also still want to see you guys watch "C'etait un rendezvous"
They have the raiders which have kinda crazy fans
If you want yo see real intense rivalry - check out sooty and sweep.
🤣👍🏻
🤣🤣🤣
Because they were both so desperate to bang Soo.
It was all Sue's fault. Such a tease.
😂😂😂😂😂
5:08 great point x
It’s a thin line between a Ultras and a Hooligan. One may claim Ultras, one may claim Hoolie. Some claim both just that easy.
To be fair, there's definitely an ultras culture to the Portland Timbers in MLS, but it's more like a covers band than the real thing. I don't see how America's franchise system with your clubs can ever go with a proper ultras culture.
You need to watch Danny dyers real football firms, it’s on RUclips, each episode is a different area of the uk. It is worth reacting to
Yes. Watch Danny Dyer cry like a baby. 🤣
I love the one in Argentina when it kicks off. He fuckin shits it! 😂
@@timglennon6814 yes however it does give an incite into proper holligans. Northern hooligans, not southern softies, 1 blackpool hooligan could take out 3000 London hooligans
@@cyberash3000 the Burnley was is top!
@@chriscjad Burnley? Thats because they have 6 fingers
The chainsaw is the usa
It’s a mls team that chops wood
Portland timbers
Try a series thats called 'The real football factories'
Rarely will you see flares at an English game, and ultras are die hard fans often linked with hooliganism at the very least. The end.
We don't call it soccer because return the word "soccer" was the name that be English Football Association, (the FA) tried to impose on the game, to try and raise it above its working class, grass roots origins, but the name was never accepted by fans in the UK,
The American World Cup is going to be interesting, how will they televise the abusive chants from England?
England will have to qualify first. They didn't last time.
The cops will shoot them to shut them up. Words are meaner than bullets.
They are in USAs group in Qatar 😉
@@davidmcnulty8628 I will be 72 then and I will be there:)
12:50 The clubs are mostly not into politics but the fan base is!
Nobody gets stuck in traffic. Authorities already organized this
well.. that chainsaw its in mls... its a show in the alf time... in europe nobody do that kind of shows...
15: 14 - just for own safety
actually the clubs dont suport this things and they usualy release announcements where they say that, the clubs want to sell tickets, so they need to give the other fans security too. but, also they dont want to lose those fans bc not all are bad and its part of the game and also ultras work like "hype mans", puting all in the stadium chanting and jumping and so on, a flair dont do nothing bad by itself, you need a bad person to do bad things. in fact in a lot of countries as in here in Portugal, some ultras need to go to the police station during the game, they cant get even close to a stadium in a game day. there are around 200 persons in Portugal with that condition.
Some of the connotations of the word ‘ultras’ isn’t very positive. I would just say fans as ultras is kind of another word for hooligan and there is bad history there.
It's not a game It's a motion to war.
bro from italy ultra is like a thing over power like you know pokeball and ultraball from pokemon
Well---(?) .. declaring war a little bit hard to say.. We love to "love/hate" each other! Hard in (mostly) words, but we all chair the same passion :) The passion of chairing.
STAND YOUR GROUND! South Brasil G.R.T.O. Mancha Azul
In Africa there's only one sports that brings everyone together that's football
My thing about calling football soccer is that football is a game played with your feet and nfl is a game played with your hands (mostly) so why call nfl football when you only kick it if you are bad or have scored?
No gun. But bring coin into studium 😂
There's one American hooligan ...... he's funny as fuck! I think it's a Vice vid on here
Bill Shankley, manager of Manchester United:
"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."
Shankley was Liverpool not Manchester United.
Franchises can't compete with that.
european football fans ultras - our way of life
React to this
7:53 It's funny, but you can't turn off ultras. The state cannot shut it down, not the club. In addition, ultras are a decades-long tradition. It's a way of life.
Welcome to CROATIA !
Few examples from my city, Belgrade, Serbia:
- Maybe 20 years back in one neighborhood of my city a serial rapist started attacking girls at night.
Not to mention they did it for like 10 times less money than what the city would spend and there are no junkie gatherings there anymore
- They refurbish the facades of old buildings that the authorities ignore. They do paint their murals and insignia, but it looks better than gray walls and plaster falling off of them
- Police actually has to patrol less because there are always some ultras sitting on a bench, drinking beer and watching over the hood. Especially in the summer. So cops are happy as well
So from the local neighborhood perspective ultras are actually a quite good thing to have. If they didn't get involved in crime they would be a pride of the community.
BTW, ultras were the key players in bringing down Serbian dictator Slobodan Milošević back in 2000. They were on the front line, clashing with the police, swallowing tear gas and enabled protestors to push forward.
Red Star Belgrade v Dinamo Zagreb started the Balkans war
And besides. You do not see flares in the UK
Ultas maintain our culture and history, it's incredible and the clubs appreciate them.
Poland , Greece , Turkey , Russia , Serbia , Croatia have the best footbal fans, ultras and hooligans
Y'all should watch the movie Green Street Hooligans !!
American's reaction to ultras, don't put ice cream in the oven!!
PETE AND BAS PLUGGED IN WITH FUMZ pleeeeeaaaassseee
MLS up & coming check out Atlanta united very impressive
no
Humpa lumpas of hartlepool...the boys...
WHAT IT DO YA'LL!!
Just say soccer, most of us know what you mean and couldn't care less either way.
Football !
You dont see pyro in England
We have history here in europe som of these clubs be older then amerika
a nice B-52 with a full payload of cluster frags would put a quick stop to all that nonsense. or perhaps a few more Valley parades Bradford Yorkshire
Clubs can be fined if their fans set off flares, smoke bombs etc. I think I've seen you react to a video where polish fans put up huge flags and then set off lots of red flares with another flag in the centre proclaiming how much their team would be fined because of the flares and basically saying football is all about money and not passion.
Please watch some mighty boosh!!! Old Gregg is a good starting point
