What about a 1.5 year old ridgeback? Mine is a ridgeback lab mix and dealing with biting, not puppy biting per se. *adding that he’s a rescue

I learned from a book about dogs development that in the first time of a puppies life they also learn how hard they bite. As they explore everything with there mouth they have to learn how much force to use. You will only have a certain amount of weeks to learn the dog that, after that, and without learned that, they will bit with the same force all the time and inly option you have then is not to bite at all. Also they wrote in the book that you should never pull the hand back quickly as that starts a chasing behaviour, but let the dog know that it hurts and then follow with your comments. But if you didn’t learn the puppy how hard it bites it can become really dangerous if, lets say a kid by accidents happen to step on the dogs tail, with training he will but his teeth agains you but not bite, without he will bite hard as he doesn’t know anything els. I thought that was interesting. Do you have any thoughts about that statement from that book. (Sorry I can’t remember the name of that book, but i borrowed it from a veterinarian).

I have two males and one female, the males are recently fighting each other... Blood fighting. Is that normal with ridgebacks?

I have a 16 month old ridgeback and a 6 month old ridge back. The 16 month old has bit my son 2 times in the face where he needed stitches. We exercise him daily and he’s very obedient there’s no warning just out of the blue he snaps! What are we doing wrong?

Hey Theresa, thanks for watching and reaching out. Sadly we're unable to give advice on specific dog behaviour as it's so hard to tell on description alone. We recommend, if you have a serious behaviour concern with your dog, to look for local help with a training that can been the behaviour in person and give you specific advice

Idk what breed my dog is. He looks like a English mastiff but his face looks like a Great Dane. He loves the cold and is very VERY stubborn. The Maine thing that I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE is to train him to stop biting when you touch his collar. Because sometimes I NEED to grab him by the collar and he bites. So if anyone knows anything helpful and sees this comment PLEASE do comment please I am in need and been wanting to teach him this ever since he started, which was like a year ago:(

Will the boot camp work if I have had my puppy for almost a month? We are having multiple behavioral issues between her and I. She and my husband do very well, but she does not seem to respect me at all.

I should rephrase that - the puppy course you offer.

Hey Helen, if your puppy is under 6months we'd recommend our Perfect Puppy Course, if they are old Our Boot Camp course is probably best. You will see changes and the more desired behaviours you are after but it might take a little long as they will need to unlearn what they know already. But remember consistency is key!

I did that once with my Jindo mix. It worked. Have not done that with this new puppy 10-11mo old, Rhod/Shep/Chow mix or is a Rhod/Mastiff Shep...he has an extremely strong jaw bone.
