- In this video I'm fixing a SolarEdge Inverter that has not been reporting data for over a year. A lot of time people may think their solar panel system is broken when in reality their internet connection has been disrupted.
Ill be taking the old outdated cell kit off this unit and adding on a new wireless gateway form solaredge and connecting it to the wifi/gateway.

Also please I know that it is possible to set up the wifi from the "my solar edge app" but Im not guaranteeing any results with this product because there are a lot of variables but I hope this helps you out.

Great video. My inverter stopped communicating too. Couldn’t see inverter status on mySolarEdge app but it was producing power. I was going to replace the gateway. Before buying a new gateway WiFi part, I fixed it by resetting and re-linking my old gateway receiver (unit connected to my router).

Dude I spent an hour trying to connect my wifi through the app after talking with customer service and they needed to submit a ticket that would take 7-15 days. Only after coming across your video did I understand that piece of hardware was needed. Thank you so much. I'm not seeing the wifi kit on your amazon page though??

I hardwired mine when the first 3g was depricated and Solar Edge wanted to charge $499 to have someone come out and install a 5G kit. No thanks. Back then, the consumer app would not allow you to change the internet connection. It recognized the connection but would not default for communication. I had to call Solar Edge and after a number of phone calls, I convinced someone that I knew what I was doing because I had already installed the cable and the connection was recognized. I only need the installer login to make the simple change. Way harder than it should have been but I got it done. Did a video on the install as well Super easy.

RF cables are super sensitive to bend radius.. good to mention that no kinking or pinching..
That fortress power looks just like the eg4 18k.. I presume another deye inverter.. wonder how it is.
I just put an old Google wifi hub next to the Solaredge box and it works fine

Thanks for the info. My solaredge system 12 panels not getting voltage on 1 or 2 panels then jumps to another panel or panels the next day no voltage What going on can you help please?
can obtain and configure a consumption meter myself if i buy and install it? i have a solar edge 7600 inverter that is the basic one with no consuption meter ports from the factory.
We hard wired to the router for next door Jose. Over a year still down, loosing money big time. In mean time I have to look at ugly side and I get angry every time for nothing.
Hello, my solar edge app shows consumption but nothing for production. When I pull it up on the web browser for my site, it shows my consumption and production. I recently had my optimizers changed out after they quit working. Could that be a dynamic at play, my installer seems stumped. Thanks

@solargoat I frequently have my panels stop producing around noon even though the sun is out and it’s only 50 degrees F. What can cause this frequent drop out? I have Solar Edge inventer and Hanwha cells.
Might be too many solar panels on a string? Voltage or wattage too high?
How do I log in the app impossible bought the house with solar ?

@solargoat my communications have stopped working with my solaredge inverter. I'm pretty sure it's the 3g modem ending service. I ran an ethernet into the inverter but it's not communicating and I don't see an option to fix that on the app. I also don't have the front panel led display either. My installer won't answer and I don't know what else I can do. Any advice?
Does it say you have “SOK” on the coms section? If you scan the QR code you should be able to select coms and change it to Ethernet manually.
If that doesn’t work I’d be worried it’s a dead inverter or bad cable
No the inverter is good, I've got the solid green light during the day and I can see the dip in my electric's stats on another app (that's a long lag before they post that but I know it's working)@@solargoat
I've got to try and see if it gives me the option to change it manually in the app. The first try through it could see I was trying to connect it via ethernet but it wasn't showing in actual info on the app.

Bad cable! I redid both ends to see if it was my shoddy work...and it was! It's connecting now. Thanks for responding!@@solargoat
