@@donnerlake6786 Hi Donner, i just installed the network cable and it is showing up on the View only mode of SetApp. I think i understand that I must change the default communications to LAN. i seem to be stuck here. any advice?
I’ve made this connection but about once per week or so it changes back over to using the cellular communication. Then I have to go to the inverter and switch it back to Ethernet communication. How do I make it stay on Ethernet permanently?
Other subscribers have stated a similar problem I have as my inverter is also mounted outside (on my garage wall) and is approximately 223 feet from the router which I can move maybe 17 feet closer still leaving it more than 200 feet away. I was never notified these changes/updates were going to be needed and have had my system 6 1/2 years. I was given this option of hardwiring the system or a more expensive alternative (purchasing a 4G Cell Kit) which would need to be upgraded again in 5 years. If I chose the TP Powerline starter kit would it be best to drill a hole through the garage wall to access a wall outlet or try to find a cover that might fit over an outside outlet? Safety first.
So yes my question. My system ground mount away from house. It less 4 years old upset cause my installer nor my solar edge contact inform me of this . My installer is weaseling out saying they got out residential installs look made cause it's my hard earned money that I have put up this. Just frustrated from what information I've gathered estimating $700 to get solar edge communicating again. What can I do? Without messing with the warranty
@@sochs2598 found out that the only way to do this is to use the “SetApp”. Unfortunately this requires a permission credential that is grated if you are a registered installer. Solaredge will not grant temporary access and just directs back to your installer for help. This is what I have found out anyway.
I was able to create an "installer" account by clicking the link inside the setapp app. It is all automated, just give them a different email from your regular owner account and don't try to enter your inverter serial number when signing up for the account.
So is this switch from 3g to Wi-Fi the customers liability and out of pocket expense? If so, what type of cost am I facing for labor and product? If not, does solaredge cover all labor and part cost? Thank you
In your video the first step: turn off the circuit breaker(0:37), the second step: turn off dc power on the inverter(1:14), and the third step: dc disconnect(1:41), but on 1:44 I see that, in addition, the block on the left side if turned off as well. My block has no this breaker and the block шы sealed. My question: are enough only the first 3 steps for safety? Thanks.
Access the settings using a separate app or if you have screen with buttons you can literally scroll through menu and change settings yourself after you are connected via Ethernet cable or LAN connection to your homes high speed internet router and modem. In so Cal contact me directly for more info and help
I am so disappointed with Solar Edge. They sold this technology knowing it was going away. I can't do this option because my inverter is mounted on a outside wall and my router is clear across the other side of my home. No plugs to do the bridge either.
I USED AN WIFI EXTENDER/Repeater WITH USB POWER the ONLY ISSUE I believe they disabled my LAN port, so even though my repeater is sending an internet connection it is not work. FOR mine, no cables are sticking out.
Right mine ground mount 100ft est away . I went with small company to install. After reaching out their customer service was not very helpful. Then sell guy but they got out of residential installs 4 years ago. My system is not even 4 years old . Then after finally getting a hold of my solar edge they want an installer to come install new hardware at estimated $700 which 😡 maybe there will be civil lawsuit.
@@Sciontc22jj I got mine working on my own. I had to DL the My Solar edge SETTAPP. Then create a installer account and then run the Sett App and switch cellular to LAN
Powerline should be a last resort. Just use a wifi access point that joins your existing wifi network. Weird that the SolarEdge wifi option isn't even mentioned ($300)
Hello D P, we always check directly with our SolarEdge representative before recommending anything, so I wonder why the tech you spoke with told you that. All of these options will work without causing harm to the system.
I've used countless powerline adapters for solaredge never had a issue, the only reason solaredge is against it is because it's not a solaredge branded product and can't make money of it.
How do you update the inverter to LAN connection instead of the dead cell connection? That is the most important part :)
I know seriously wtf
Thx for nothing. Here’s how to plug in an Ethernet cable. Uhhh..duh…

What did you end up doing?
Do you have a video on how to switch the connection from 3g/cellular to LAN? This one was very helpful thank you!
Lou: did you figure out how to do this?
I have the same question. I cannot figure out how to change the communication from cell to LAN using the mysolaredge app.

can i just use the mysolaredge app to get the production graphs etc on my cell phone.

How do you upgrade it to land connection
How do i Switch from WIFI to LAN? The SET APP doesn't have an option to switch. Only thing shows is a Cellular data off.
Can I connect an old WiFi router to the inverter using ethernet connection?
Why cant it just go straight to your laptop via Ethernet??

WHAT!?!? But where's the important part about converting it to LAN!?!?!
