    Great Review! I've been eyeing these headphones for a while now, and I enjoyed how you dove into performance across various genres of music rather than just reading off the spec sheet and heavily adhering to the frequency response. Going to demo them this weekend, might be what I need to finally pull the trigger!

      Thank you for the kind words, and glad you liked it!
      Definitely demo them, and best of luck!

      @@NorbReviews Tried them out two days ago now, and WOW! The feel, comfort, fullness, staging, imaging, and tonality blew me away. I always heard they were isolating, and I was pleasantly surprised by just how much noise they cut out. The dealer offered me a 15% discount on a new pair straight from Meze, and at that point I just had to buy them. I'll be getting my hands on them a week from now, I can't wait!

      @@megmnd3525Fantastic! Yeah, in all honesty, the only reason I didn’t buy them for myself is because I just bought another expensive pair (notice the Meze Elite in the background?), but I am… still tempted. I also think I need to try the Focal Celestee again, which I really liked, but Meze > Focal when it comes to comfort every time.

    Good review. I do wish that you had been able to make comparisons to other closed backs though. Stuff like the Dan Clark Audio E3 or even the Aeon 2 Noire which is half the price.

      Thanks, and I wish I did, too. Unfortunately, even at my local shop, the only comparison point I would have had immediate access to would have been the Audeze LCD-2, but I didn’t have time to head there when I did this. All I can say is that I thoroughly enjoyed these, and would have bought them myself if I’d had the budget.

    Outstanding review, as usual. I was a bit disappointed that you weren’t that fond of the longer cable that comes with this headset since my setup has my sitting area quite far from my preamp. Ten feet would work but it’s really more like 15’. Can you recommend your favorite long cable that you think would work well with the Liric II? Thanks!

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews  2 месяца назад

      Oh, that’s tough. I don’t have a recommendation on it. But yeah, the longer cable is the more standard (less expansive) Meze cable which isn’t bad, but that more expensive copper cable really did make a notable difference in my enjoyment.
      The only thing I can advise is to look for a cable that would calm down some of the higher peaks in the sound a bit. I’d you have a high end music story you can go to, I bet they could help. (Plug for my favorite store, but check out ListenUp.com. Their stores have super helpful folks, so give them a call and maybe they can help.)

    Great review, congrats! I have the Liric II, and it’s my endgame. I think they are excellent all-rounders, especially notable for their layer separation, which is among the best at any price range. All the instruments are presented independently and precisely, coming together masterfully.
    I also have the 109 Pro, but I’m considering selling them because they have a similar profile, but the Liric II has the technical advantage.
    Do you think it’s a wise decision to keep the 109 Pro while owning the Liric II? Will I miss anything that the 109 pro can provide if I sell them?

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews  5 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you for watching and for the kind words!
      So whether you keep both, that’s up to you. I find the 109 Pro a little thin in the mids, and the new tuning of the Liric 2 does definitely get closer to what the 109Pro offers. (When I recommended the Liric 1 to have a secondary headphone, the 109 Pro was precisely what I was thinking about.)
      Whether it makes sense to keep both… I think the only thing might be the spaciousness and imaging. It’s good on the Liric II, but the open-back nature of the 109 Pro gives it a distinct advantage here, and it’s exactly what I was thinking about when I talked about this in the video.
      I think it might be nice to sell the 109 Pro and grab something that offers a complementary sound, instead, if you feel you need it. But you’re right, the Liric II is such a good all-around headphone that I’m not really sure you need to UNLESS you want something for larger orchestral works. Then… maybe consider selling the 109 Pro and picking up something like a Focal Clear or LCD-X, something that will get you more presence with voices. Or if you want to get all fancy, pair the Liric with an Empyrean :-D
      Side note: the 109 Pro is *FANTASTIC* for video games.
      Ultimately, it’s really up to you: if you find yourself just not using the 109 Pro - and I can 100% see that - then yeah, worth selling. But with one being a planar and the other a dynamic, one closed and the other open… I think they might be different enough to justify keeping both.

    Thank you for you videos and your answers please I hope you tell me which has better sound as being accurate sound and more comfortable Sennheiser momentum 4 or bowers and Wilkins Px7 S2e

      I just finished the script for a video that answers just this. The sound on the Momentum 4 I find is more accurate/better timbre. (The M4 can be too bright; the S2e can be too dark.) But I find the Px7 S2e more comfortable.

    Hi, Norb, thanks for this wonderfull review! Can you advise me... I own Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250 ohm, and I have tried many headphones from ZMF Atrium, Atticus, Verite, some Audeze models, Kennerton, Denon 5200,... but I still haven't found the right one. I have ADI-RME and Kinki Studio TRH-1, I listen to EDM music. Do you think Liric 2 headphones would be perfect for bass or should I look for headphones with dynamic drivers?

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews  2 месяца назад

      Oh, this is though. I don’t know what “perfect” would mean to you. I personally liked it, and I recommend trying it. But it looks like you’ve already tested a LOT of good stuff.
      I like planar for its tightness. But I like dynamic drivers for the slightly warmer, more relaxed quality, and I feel Meze manages to make planars a bit more dynamic-like in this regard. So again, while I can’t give you a definite answer, I think it’s very much worth your while to try them.

      @@NorbReviews By perfect I meant strong and good quality bass. Yes, I've tried several used ZMF headphones, but for me they are really strange sounding, hollow and muffled sound. The same with Denon, I think this is because of a wooden cups... I believe it's different an ok with wooden cups on Liric 2. My DT 770 are modded with sheep leather earpads and they rock in the bass region, but overall sound quality mids and highs are not so good. I forgot to mention that a few years ago I also had the opportunity to try out the Liric 1, I really liked them, especially the quality and clarity of the sound, but they didn't have enough bass for me. Now I can't get the Liric 2 as a demo, only if I buy them, maybe I can return them if they don't suit me. I'm just afraid that the Liric 2 won't have enough improved bass, but on the other hand I somehow think that dynamic headphones are more recommended for EDM just because of the bass, maybe I'm wrong...EQ din't help also. What do you think?

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews  2 месяца назад

      Ah, I see! Hmm. OK, so keep in mind that I borrowed these from Meze, so I don’t have them anymore. Everything I’m saying is from memory. Please forgive me if I misspeak.
      Strictly looking at the bass, I don’t know that it would be more powerful than the Liric I. But the overall tuning, which I found much more satisfying, might give it a perception of stronger bass. And certainly, the physicality was decent. (I’d experiment with EQ on these, too to get your where you’d want to be, even if it didn’t work as well last time.)
      But with EDM… that I can’t say. Like, the physicality might be what you’re looking for with lower frequencies, but I think this is definitely frequency dependent. Meze does have a satisfaction policy (linked in the description, affiliate), as does headphones.com (I don’t have any affiliation with them). This all said, unless you like really bright high end, you’d definitely want to use the higher-end cable wherever possible, which I really enjoyed because it made things so much smoother.
      Sorry that I can’t be of more help.

    Please suggest a portable Dac/amp for the Liric 2.
    I would’ve purchased the mojo 2 but no 4.4 and no type c charging is a deal breaker for me.
    I would like to use my iPhone (type c) as a source and I have an ru7 currently and love the way it sounds but I’m worried that it might not be enough for the Liric 2

      The Liric 2 is easy to drive. The ru7 is enough power. Have you tried the iFi xDSD Gryphon?
