Great video as always. Oh, and the MDR 7506 actually HAVE changed the packaging. They come in a white box. If anyone goes to Guitar Center (my job, lol) ask for the new box if you want. We’re still putting the old ones out first until they’re gone 😂

@@droopydraco8860 @SanjayC unfortunately M40x wasn't mentioned in the video instead of 20,30 and 50.. the 40 I think is the best cheapest one for mixing if we have to use headphones for that, and.. usually I choose Sony MDR7506 which very flat and not so comfy indeed although I like it for work,.. but it's earcup skin peeled off badly after few months

I owned the Shure 440s for a few years, until they got smashed by a rogue personal sound mixer on stage, and now I own the HD280 Pros. Both are great options! To me, the 280s have a little more warmth, and as mentioned are INCREDIBLE for sound isolation. I do miss my 440s though. I loved how balanced everything felt within them- as someone who plays three instruments that was really special for me!
Thanks for all your hard work - you're great!

I've been using Sony MDR-7506 headphones for years and years -- I own three pair (but can only find two for some reason). They seem to be a studio standard in these parts, too -- almost every control room I walk into in the area seem to have them. Build quality and sound seem to be really consistent over the decades. And, they're fairly comfortable -- I can use them for hours and hours on end without fatigue. I have had to replace the ear cups, but they lasted about 10 years before having to do it.

I own both AKG240 and Shure headphones. If youre into vocal recording AKG240 is way better. They never bleed out in my setup. Semi open design allow to hear yourself better when performing, giving your flow the tightness it needs. Its true they dont have a lot of bass but one could argue that none of these headphones can mix bass properly anyway. Shure headphones is a no go if you move a lot when recording vocals as their components make a lot of "skweek skweek" sounds, so much that one can barely hear himself singing. Its true Shure headphones sound good, so good that it actually hides off a lot of flaws in your mix and that makes polishing your mix impossible. Shure headphones is better when DJing as you want to protect your ears from undesired noise when performing live all night long.

I have had the AKG K52 headphones for almost 3 years now and have been blown away. The sound quality is excellent with a wide soundstage and flat frequency response and the build quality is decent. they are fairly lightweight but they are super durable. I recently got some Beyerdynamic DT 900 PRO X headphones and I can confidently say that the AKG's sound quality and comfort (although they do have a very different 'feel' on your head) are on par. Definitely recommend for $30.

They are semiopen wich reflect in less bass frequency response compare to the others! My favourite budget headphones for listening to music and mixing .

I own 3 different headphones of them, the hd662f being the overall best in my opinion, hd681evo performing better in the lowend and hd660 pro 150 Ohms being very brilliant in heights and stage but lacking real sub bass. All of them under 50 bucks and a real no-brainer. Some of their mics are also worth having a look at (love the e205). Maybe a brand you could pick up some day. which headphones do you recommend for beatmakering???

    • @emiel333

Sennheiser. Make sure it’s one that’s wired (no Bluetooth!) and a closed back design. Closed back isolate more and don’t ’leak’ sound. Sennheiser headphones are available from affordable to really expensive and everything in between. The Sennheiser HD 280 Pro is a great and quite affordable wired headphones for producers of any kind. I don’t know your budget and/or what you can spend on great headphones so this option could be too expensive or you can spend some more on a pair of headphones. There are even great sounding Sennheiser headphones (wired) for less money. These are all from the HD line up. The HD200 Pro is even more affordable and also a great choice for beat making. I hope this is helpful.

Im about tired of splitting hairs. Consumerism is dogshit. One thing I seen friends from shithole countries do is just simply use what they have and master it. An ex made a couple albums and got signed using an Akai MPK MINI MK1 and samson akg knockoffs. While I spent 20k creating a pile of dust and cables.

I used the AKG 271 MKII closed ones for about 180€ about 12 years ago. But same as yours absolutly NO bass at all. And not very comfi after hours. I love the Feature that the sound goes automaticlly off when you take the headphones off. But i would never buy AKG again. My next one will cost a bit more...the DT900 Pro X...😜
At the moment im using the Superlux HD660 Pro for 49€...😁 Not that bad i have to say...i listened to more expensiv ones but they were crap compared to the Superlux. Im still learning with it because now i have more bass...not that much...but a bit more than flat. The overall sound is pretty nice for the price. Thinking about to get a second one...just in case. They are just good...👍

I know this probably sounds crazy but I use the stock apple corded earbuds that comes in the box when you buy an iPhone. I’ve used them for recording my music over the past few years and I’ve tired using other headphones but I don’t know if I’m just use to the apples or what but nothing seemed to take their place. For recording in my opinion they just seem to give you that correct sound so when I record something and then take the song to the car like we all do and see how it sounds I find I need to make less corrections with the apples then other headphones idk that’s just my opinion, I also use an M-audio interface and an akg condenser Mic which I think akg makes an insanely good microphone for beginners and even for professional use. My 2 cents

I play bass and I use the AKG240 almost daily. It's the headphone that I plug into my amp and boy the response is bad. The clipping on the highs is crazy especially when I am using distortion(which I use a lot as I play metal) and the distortion is very high compared to bass cabinets.

The HD 280s have a crappy build. The pads and headband will need replacing every year or two. The ear pads literally disintegrated. At $25 for replacement pads and headband, your money is better spent up front on better headphones.

For budget headphones why don’t you try out Austrian Audio? In my opinion it really good for tracking. For those AT headphones, it got a really serious sound bleed. Lastly I good to a studio which using this kind of AT headphones, there is serious sound bleed in the vocal tracks. It made me feel headache😭.
Before the birth of Austrian audio, I used 280PRO for tracking. It is not sounds bad and there is no sound bleed problem. However it’s ear cups easily be damaged. The Sony one got the same problems. If I got to work smoothly, I think I got have more than 5 pairs of the same headphones in my studio. However for there price range it is too heavy to have 5 pairs in my studio right🤣?

If you own a headphone for a year or longer, you will find that the crap leather or fake leather covering of the earpads will fall apart and the foam padding will decompose into foam dust. Those headphones with have cloth or nylon outer shell on the earpads are far less subject to early death and the foam pads underneath them are also more likely to last. The Sony headphone discussed is according to my own experience and many reviewers is an example of poorly done earpads which will fall apart.

Can't be beat at the price, Yes 7506 they didn't change the packaging but who cars unlike the other brand which cheap out on the headphones, You only see the package once the headphone quality for as long as they last.
