    Hello. Have you noticed that after the last focal update, the app doesn't open, doesn't recognise the headphones and you can't even register them? The app doesn't work and doesn't detect any headphones. Do you have any idea why? Thanks

    This is the best video I have seen on this topic so far! Question: Did you experience any soreness at the top of your head, caused by the headband, during the first few days of use with of any of these headphones? I recently bought the bose QC 45s and the top of my head got pretty sore after about one and a half hours of use during my first time taking it with me traveling, which was shortly after I had bought them, meaning I had barely worn them at the time. I am definitely used to more plush up top, as I use the extremely comfortable DT 770 pros at home all day.

      @@AstraProc - Thanks for the kind words! I’m happy to hear you found it useful! As for hotspots at the top of the head, definitely a thing I’ve experienced! What I’ve seen is, the wider the headband, the less likely that is to happen. (This is why I wish the APMs had an actual headband, rather than a mesh.) I never experienced with the QC45’s, but that’s really individual so do give that any weight. It might just be a matter of time: that padding softens up the more you use it. But if that doesn’t work, what has worked for me was getting a headband cover like this one: amzn.to/3SBEDGy The fabric makes the headband both softer and, more importantly, broader so it should provide better weight distribution across the top of the head. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look its best, but comfort > looks in my book. Another option, though one I don’t think is available for the Bose, is a fabric mesh pad like this one that moves the pressure points to the sides of the head, instead of the top: amzn.to/4ftvWHU I’d try the first option before the second. Best of luck. I hope this helps.

    AirPod max are not worth it now. Apple has stopped supporting them with new firmware updates with new features like the AirPods Pro 2. Also the price is high and this thing is 4 years old. It’s ancient in the world of tech and the new one is coming soon. So it’s not a buy.

    Hey! Just wanted to ask a question , Sony doesn’t offer LDAC for iPhone. So does using this enhance the audio quality for sony xm5’s?

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 6 дней назад

      Sound quality will be better wired than Bluetooth on AAC (provided you turn them on when wired), so yeah, absolutely. But this and the standard Apple dongle will give you about the same result in your case. It would be different if you were using something like the Hidiz M145’s, since those IEMs make use of the additional power the iFi provides.

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 2 дня назад

      @@raghavarora6036 My pleasure! I definitely get it, just starting with IEMs. I would start simple and inexpensive, find a tuning you like, then find something like it. I really like both the Moondrop Chu II amzn.to/4dpCRAb and the Hidiz MS1 Galaxy amzn.to/4d4UGF5. You can get a DSP version of the Chu II, so you won’t need to buy anything extra. For bass, I also enjoy the KB Ear Rosefinch amzn.to/4d4OjBq. These are all under $25 USD. A lot of people swear by the CCR CRA+, which is about $35 amzn.to/3WO2JjB i haven’t used these, but I’m planing to get them to test. My favorite IEMs up to now have been the Meze Alba, but that is a bit more pricey ($160). You need to be reviewing these with the angled alcantara ear pads. The standard alcantara have long been replaced by these and are completely different in character, really opening up the sound. I’m using my Elites with a Hugo 2 which I’ve found to be a great combination.

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 3 дня назад

      Thanks for the feedback! The angled pads didn’t come with my review set. If I get the opportunity, though, I will. (With luck, I will, soon.) Side note: Loving my Mojo 2, but the Hugo 2 was what I wanted. (Budgets and all.) The only issue I seem to be having is that, now that I’m using the Elite + Mojo 2, im hearing a LOT more production errors with a lot of the music I listen to. (This morning I was listening to The Decembersists and Diana Krall, and I was surprised at just how much extra noise I kept hearing.) I tested with my Focal Clear OGs and it was still there, making me wonder if the recordings were just that bad, or if there’s a problem with the Mojo. (I also tested with the Apple Dongle, and I didn’t hear as much then, but I don’t know if that’s just a power output issue: maybe the Mojo 2 is driving too much power into these.)

    Hi. Great video. I've subscribed. I would love some guidance. I'm looking for overear headphones. Use is watching movies, podcasts, some music and some phone calls. Not to use for exercise or outdoors. My priorities are 1) comfort - this is hard as I have a smallish head and wear glasses. I have an old pair of Bose QC 35s. Great quality but a bit too big for my head at the smallest setting. I prefer light clamping force. 2) I don't care about great ANC. I'd like to be able to turn that feature off and on as I choose.3) Needs to have average to good call quality - will be used in a quiet environment. 4) They need to work with a Macbook Air. 5) I don't need a lot of fancy tech. 6) price up to $250 - I'm willing to go reconditioned if that makes the most sense. I'm no audiophile so good quality but nothing super premium is required 6) Would like to listen wireless or wired at my choice. I was thinking about Seinnheiser Momentum 4 (reconditioned) or Sony XM4 (likely reconditioned as well). Would love to get your thoughts. I don't have a store nearby where I can try on any of these. THANK YOU.

    If I put the flappy thing down, do I have to turn them off via the button then?

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 9 дней назад

      Yes. Otherwise they’ll just stay connected to your device. The same magnets that turn the headphones back on in the case also disconnect them from your device when you first put them in the case.

    • @c0rtin3x
      @c0rtin3x 9 дней назад

      @NorbReviews Thanks! So if I turn them off with the button and then put them on a headphone stand there is no danger of them turning on because there are no magnets nearby, right? And with a little skill I guess it should also be possible to put them in the case, let them disconnect through the magnets and then immediately fold over the flappy thing to keep the headphones from turning on... so you wouldn't have to turn them off everytime

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 9 дней назад

      @@c0rtin3x Correct about the headphone stand. As for putting them in and disconnecting, you can try, but I don’t think that will work. Basically, the way this works is that, there’s a magnet in the flap. As soon as it gets close enough to the specific area in the headphones, the headphones disconnect. As soon as it moves away, the headphones go into low power mode and connect. So I suspect that, if you tried what you’re proposing, they might go back to regular mode and reconnect anyway.

      Thank you for the kind words! As for headphones, my wife has the same issue. Her favorite headphones have been the Sennheiser PXC 550-II. Those have excellent sound, decent ANC, and are compact. They work OK with glasses, but sometimes the on-head detection reacts to the legs of the glasses. They are also not great with multi-device connect, so I wouldn’t use the. But they ARE comfortable for her, a perfect size. They run small on me (I have to extend all the way and even then they’re tight), but on her, they’re great. Not too long ago, they were rebranded as the EPOS Adapt 600 amzn.to/46o3qDs They are supposed to be office headphones, but they were originally branded as travel headphones. Not sure why they switched. Regardless, thats what I’d recommend. If they’re just rebranded and everything else is the same, then I think you’ll find them comfortable.

      Consider the Adidas RPT 02 SOL. a.co/d/hRbP2LR It’s intended for gym use, so it should be able to stand a good beating. Sound quality won’t be anywhere near the M4, though. The other option is to get something cheaper for the rough and tumble and the more expensive set, like the M4, for when it’s less likely you’ll beat it up. Of course, using the case will likely help you protect them.

    Why considering the Momentum 4 better because of the power saving mode?… thats not the same as turning them off which translates in battery drain… Also, the FACT that they auto connect to your phone while in the case makes them very bad option in that case. Why would one want a pair of headphones that CAN’T be turned off so you wont drain their battery and make it last LONGER, rather than one pair that can be turned off and rest assured that your phone also wont be consuming battery life because it’s connected to the headphones while not in use?… Just lame excuse in that aspect. And you consider this and “extra functionality” as a positive thing… Just DUMB!!!!

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 12 дней назад

      Except you CAN turn the M4 off. Just long-press the power button. If it keeps turning on and connecting in the case, just turn down the flap between the earcups in the case, or cut it off. That’s where the magnets that control on/off are. There, problem solved. Pro tip: Consider asking questions next time instead of going on the attack. It’s way more useful than randomly ranting at internet strangers.

      @@arplay5715 I haven’t, unfortunately. I almost bought them recently, but instead bought the Px7 S2e, which I feel holds up pretty well, even if it a a bit too bass-heavy. (I’d put it on par with the Sennheiser Momentum 4.)

    This says a lot about the momentum 4 if they aren't being blown out of the water by the bathys in sound quality. If I was to get a pair of Bluetooth headphones, it'll be the momentum 4

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 20 дней назад

      Not sure what you can do. If you haven’t tired factory resetting the headphones and reconnecting them, try that. Also, does the issue persist when you’re connected using the cable? Or just Bluetooth? That might help show you where the problem is. If you just purchased it, you may want to contact the seller or Bose to see if they can repair it or replace it, as it sounds like an issue with the speakers. Beyond that, I don’t know. Best of luck.

    The Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones offer excellent audio quality for music. However, they may not be the best choice for video calls or meetings, particularly in an open office environment, as the microphone tends to pick up surrounding noises, including conversations from colleagues. Additionally, they are not suitable for sports activities due to overheating issues. It would be beneficial for Sennheiser to consider reintroducing physical buttons for volume and other controls.

    question, will they support LE LC3 ? (part of BT 5.2?) not every device supports AptX HD or Adaptive :/

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 21 день назад

      If it does, it’s not advertised. But then, a lot of companies don’t, for some reason. Further, I see no indication that it does LE audio, which is a requirement for LC3. I’ll continue looking around, but if it does, the capability is well hidden.

    It seems that the most important change is that the XM5 has 30mm driver, while the XM4 had 40mm driver. That makes it unable of providing quality bass effortlessly, unlike the superior XM4. Now if you want a 40mm driver you must go to their Sony ULT which however has crippled ANC compared to the XM5. Driver diameter is the first thing reviewers should look for in the specs.

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 22 дня назад

      There’s an old saying in computers: specs don’t matter. Performance does. That applies here. Acoustics is complicated. (It’s also fascinating.) The driver size would only matter if all things were equal. Here they are not, so just saying “bigger number better” is reductionist, and not something I found to be terribly useful, since the drivers are actually different designs, not to mention the construction materials of the headphones, which will impact the expression of those acoustics. In general, if all things remain the same, bigger drivers move more air… but they also move slower. So often, they do louder bass but the bass might not be as punchy as a smaller driver, and at a certain point the size causes treble roll-off/distortion. That’s what I found here, too: the sound on the XM5 is superior to the XM4 because it’s wasn’t as bloated. Plus, it was easier to tune to get an even better sound. (Side note: I can’t help but wonder what the ABS material would do with a larger driver onboard: you might need a way to counter its sound dampening effects.) If you prefer the XM4, that’s great. If knowing that the driver is larger is something that’s important to you, then it is. But I’ve rarely found that bit of knowledge in isolation to be all that useful unless everything else was equal.

    Just subscribed. Can you please review the Edifier Stax Spirit S3 & S5? Tq.

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 22 дня назад

      Thank you for subscribing! I can’t promise that I’ll be able to do those any time soon, unfortunately: I don’t own them (and I pay for the vast majority of everything on the channel) and probably won’t have the time in the foreseeable future, since I’ll be doing a bunch of comparisons, plus a few other commitments. The S3 is one that I’ve had on my radar for a while, but just haven’t had the opportunity. (I’ve spoken to Edifier about it, but that hasn’t gone anywhere.) Didn’t know about the S5, but once I have the time, I’ll look into that. Thank you for the suggestions, though: this really helps me decide what to look for in the future.

    Link for best equalizer APO settings for when I'm using it wired on my pc?

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews 29 дней назад

      Is they’re turned on, same settings, but set them up before connecting them. If they’re turned off, or if you want to tune them on the computer, first make sure the EQ is flat. This part is beyond my scope, but you can start with the general settings here and apply them to your EQ. You can also find a normalized (or compensated) frequency response and use that to tune them at the appropriate frequencies.

    I use an adapter to run my phone through aux input on ifi zen can 3. Could I use this instead? So phone to ifi go>to aux cable> to zen can(not dac)3 to hd560s headphones. Would that be feasible or no because it would be like running and amp into an amp?

      It’s running an amp into an amp, but it’s not a huge bump, so definitely feasible. I don’t think you’d end up with artifacts. But if anything could reveal them, I think the 560S could.

      Ratings, especially for comfort, are entirely subjective. 3 means I feel “it’s ok”, which it is, but I’m not a fan of the swamp ear it leaves me with. Same reason I don’t particularly like wearing the Sony XM4.

    It's Focal so i'm sure these sound great but they're still a pair wireless headphones, you don't really pay attention to the sound quality when using them on the go or at the gym anyway, and at home there are much better wired options with no battery degradation to worry about.

    • @NorbReviews
      @NorbReviews Месяц назад

      You’re not wrong, and I agree. But for a most people, it’s a 50/50 proposition: they’re looking for something they can use for outside the house (wireless + ANC) AND at home (good sound quality). And people love their wireless tech, which means wired headphones will usually take a back seat, no matter how much better they sound. (Within reason.) Plus, if you want one thing for all situations-as most people do because why get tools to do the same thing-you’re gonna go with the most flexible option. It’s why earbuds are so popular. If you’re gonna go wireless and get something nice, the Bathys are a very good option. But like you, I really wish they could be used while turned off. Or at least had user-replaceable batteries.
