    I just wanted to endorse your comments on how useful your knitting notes can be. Yes they are useful to other poeple who might be considering using the same pattern or yarn. But they are also super useful to you, especially if you are a repeat pattern knitter. Ravelry is a great place to keep all those notes about how much you lengthened or shortened a pattern, anything you found tricky, what needle size you used (if you are returning to a pattern where the sts are on a cord), how much yarn the pattern actually used - rather then the designer's estimate + 10% or whatever. Yes you could make those notes on the pattern but it's so much easier to have them all there on Ravellry. I use Ravelry as my "knitting diary" and sometimes I get messages from other knitters saying how useful they found my notes and thanking me. When that happens it warms my knitter's heart and I try to leave messages for other knitters if I used their notes and found them useful. Ravelry is my absolute favourite social media.

    Thank you for the tip about searching ”short sleeves”. I also loved the searching for something for your yarn and to take out socks. Brilliant.

    This is a video that I will need to watch a few times and scroll through as I try out these tips. So much good information. And Oscar, you don’t need to be dismissive of “obvious” tips because some of us really appreciate them. You won’t ever get your cashmere dog bed with that attitude. Thanks Knicole. I think I will have to up my project details. I like the idea of learning more as to what is helpful to people.

    Excellent tips. Thank you.
    About the “stored in” feature, that is used for the location of the yarn in your stash. I have a very large stash. It is stored in 37 locations. Drawer#1-Drawer#12, Tub#1-Tub#10, etc. The stored in location only shows up on the owners page, not when someone else looks at my page. With the advanced yarn search feature I can search for “pink, worsted, acrylic, machine wash“ and know exactly where to find it. I use this feature often.
    The information you suggested “pet free and smoke free home” should be put in the notes for “sale or trade” yarn.

    This is great! I've been mostly sewing in the last months, but I come back to crocheting regularly, and I've never used Ravelry for more than pattern searches. Both of your videos have been eye-opening, and I've started using your tips and looking at finished projects. I'm also going to use the yarn search function immediately, because I'm considering buying some yarn but want to be sure it'll give the effect that I'm hoping for. Thank you - thank you for these two videos - they've been a great help to me! (If you're doing a part 3, I'll be sure to watch!)

    Hi ! Many thanks. I might use an additional filter when I look for a pattern. If I have the yarn and my gauge swatch, I select the filter "gauge" and I can find paterns with a similar gauge. It's useful, in combination with other filters of course !

    I love to add my yarn to the stash and add all the info. Last weekend was yarn crawl and I was in a store I bought a particular yarn and realized after I got home I should have bought 1 more skein so while I was there I checked my stash on Ravelry and they actually still had that yarn from the same dye lot. Awesome!!

    My oh my! I learned lots! Two questions: with 304 (!) in your projects, how do you sort them? Are you always using your filters, or is there something more straightforward? (2) What's the difference between your Favourites and your Queue?

    • @Katepwe
      @Katepwe 3 месяца назад

      Favourites is where you can store everything you’ve looked at and like. Queue is where you can store the items you really want to make and make notes about them.

    I never knew Ravelry was so robust! I’ve used the project filtering but not nearly as much as all that you showed, and had started looking at project notes - even rejected a pattern that is so beautiful but multiple people had issues with it. Appreciate the discussion on favorites because I could be waaaaay more organized there. Here’s the thing, though. I’m not sure that I’m organized enough to use all the organize features Ravelry provides. My knitting app also has a stash feature but I only used it for teeny blip in time. I don’t suppose you have any tips on how to be organized enough to use Ravelry….🥴

    Than you for all this information which will probably cause me to spend another 10 hours on Ravelry - this week! 💙🩵💙
    Just an FYI - if you enter yarn in the " buy or trade" section. You might want to update it once in awhile. I contacted someone about a discontinued yarn that i wanted to buy. The person seemed upset that i was contacting them. I was very apologetic but i think they forgot it was listed. I don't think I'll ever contact anyone again. 😮
    Thanks again for all the helpful hints. 💜
