    Thanks for popping to for the results of my epic de-stash I had dental surgery this week, so I didn't have time to add in all the appropriate links in the description box. Let me know if there's anything in particular that you'd like to connect to and I'll pop it in the box asap! Knit well with your stash, whether it's tidy or not 😘

    I had yarns that I thought there was no way I would use. But, they were perfect little splashes of color on some things, and when blended with other colors/yarns, they worked wonderfully. But then, I'm a bit of a pack rat.

    I'm glad to hear your honesty in saying that a swatched piece, yarn, or pattern sometimes just doesn't work or speak to you. I think to too often we pay a lot of money for gorgeous yarns and patterns only to be so disappointed when they don't speak to us. We either limp along trying to work that pattern and yarn into something or get frustrated it didn't work out but still hang onto that yarn; certain we can do something with it in the future. And, as your video just showed us, 9 years goes by and that expensive yarn and pattern still doesn't click for us. So a big thank you for your honesty as it has given me the courage to say 'goodbye' as I start on my own stash busting adventures.

      Thank you for sharing your experience! Being honest can be really tough, especially when there’s an investment involved, but it’s so liberating in the end. Cheers! 🥰

    The Handmaiden yarn 😍
    It's beautiful and even if not your colourway, hold on to them!
    I was treated to couple of skeins by my aunt. It is gorgeous to knit with.

      It was stunning, indeed, but I gave it up to a worthy knitter who wouldn't have otherwise been able to afford it 😊

    You have inspired me. My stash is spread out on my bed. I don’t have a lot to get rid of, but I do need to see what I have. And some I need to identify just what it is. I realized I have plenty to make some scrappy socks and full skeins I didn’t remember I had! Thanks!

    I de-stashed last year. I had lots of old yarn that I used when I crocheted most of the time. I organized the yarn into bins by weight and yarn type and I posted of Facebook Marketplace. I sold it by the lot. It felt so good to let it go to people that were going to use it and I made a little bit of money back!

    Here in the US, i donate yarn I don't like or need to the local VA, some ladies knit or crochet lap blankets for Veterans in Wheelchairs, they are colorful happy blankets and it makes me feel good to contribute

    I am so inspired to get in there & go through my stash! Unfortunately, I’m a snowbird & most of my yarn is at my other residence! How’s that for an excuse? I hope the inspiration to go through my curate my stash, as you’ve done, lasts until I get home. Here’s hoping….

    Hi Nicole, gosh that was a marathon of reorganising! I can see that it makes a lot more sense to have all the yarns organised into projects with their patterns, but I did love the look of the shelves when all the skeins/hanks/cakes were stacked more visibly. You have really helped me to make sense of my own stash - tiny compared to yours - by deciding which yarns I'll probably never use, and what projects will suit the yarn I definitely want to use. So now I have some planned projects, one just started with yarn I bought in Australia years ago, a stash-busting plan to crochet an apple-catcher bag for my apple picker to replace the old cotton one that disintegrated, a new pattern downloaded yesterday for a lace-weight lacy scarf, and I'm trying to complete a few WIPs. Also there will soon be a bag of yarn going to my local community centre along with patterns I know I'll never knit and surplus needles and crochet hooks. Thank you for your entertaining good sense!

      Thanks so much for watching! I agree that there was esthetic appeal to having the yarn stacked in hanks in clear view, but for me, it's much more "useable" the way I've arranged and organized it Thanks for bringing up crochet! I meant to talk about how fabulous crochet is for stash-busting, as it generally uses more yarn than knitting. 😄

    Your unfinished Alice Starmore piece could be salvaged and remade into two teapot cozies!

    I do very much enjoy hearing your thought process as you make your choices.
    No rush but I’d really like some advice on picking a yarn scale if you find a spot for it in one of your episodes. Thanks

      Thanks for watching! I use a postal scale for my yarn, but I’m game to research the topic and see what else is available 😊

    Do you ever worry about losing your Ravelry database? I never fully trust online databases. My daughter lost her entire photo collection when My Space collapsed.

    • @Knicoleknits
      @Knicoleknits  5 месяцев назад +1

      I suppose it’s possible - like anything stored in the cloud. All the photos I have in Ravelry are backed up elsewhere. I would have to reproduce my stash database. I guess it’s a risk I’m willing to take 😊 Thanks for watching!

    What is the brand name of the hemp yarn? I'm intrigued and would like to try some.

    • @Knicoleknits
      @Knicoleknits  3 месяца назад

      I still have some of the yarn, but sadly lost the label ages ago. 100% hemp can be hard to get your hands on. Maybe try a Google search of shops you can access and see if there’s any around. 😊

    Is the yarn swap just for the knitting group? Or is it open to public like a fleece and fibre sale?

    • @Knicoleknits
      @Knicoleknits  6 месяцев назад
