    Just subbed! I love rebuilding small engines...and troubleshooting them.

    I bought the craftsmen lawn tractor with the koler engine around 95. I think I kept about 2 years, the engine burnt oil like crazy. It had that same shallow deck. At first I had an agreement with sears where they changed the oil and filters. They would also fix flat tires if you wanted to wait a week. I sat it down by the road and my father in law took it home. Then i bought a simplicity zero turn mower and it was just okay. In the short time I had it the fuel lines went bad and the pivot bolt in the front broke so I put a grade 8 in it's place.

    Once again, difficult to hear everything Tyler is saying but the sounds of tools and mechanicals are very loud. Then the volume is very low for the final clip. Making the volume consistent throughout a video would be my #1 request.
    I can’t see a lavalier mic so I’m assuming all recording is done from the camera except a lot of times it almost sounds like there’s a separate mic attached to the tractor. Maybe it’s just a very directional mic.
    Don’t get me wrong - I totally understand how time and labor-intensive video production is and I very much appreciate all your work!

    I really appreciate seeing the carb teardown and explanation since this is one I’ve never seen before. Could you identify it for me (make/model and/or type)? What role or advantage does the accelerator pump provide in the operation of this tractor?

    • @marriedwithsmallengines
      @marriedwithsmallengines  6 месяцев назад +1

      The accelerator pump gives an extra shot of fuel when the engine is going from idle to high speed, or no load to a load. We tend to see these more on the larger Kohler Command engines - but not all of them. I'm going to take a look at the engines service manual - and I will report back morein-depth info :)

      Excellent, thanks! I’m very curious exactly what triggers the additional fuel to be delivered - whether it’s a
      mechanical connection to throttle linkage or impulse driven from the crankcase or electronic. Or other - I just can’t imagine!

    Check and make sure you didn’t forget to reengage the transaxle

    • @marriedwithsmallengines
      @marriedwithsmallengines  6 месяцев назад +1

      That was checked. 😊 planning on continuing with it today. The brake pedal seems to be seized and won’t pull back as it should.

    I may have missed something and I don’t want to be a dick. It’s just that watching this reminded me of myself trying to make everything perfect when I started out running my repair business and it took awhile before realizing it’s not gonna be perfect just needs to work well. Trying for perfect will eat up too much time and if you’re charging enough customers won’t be happy.

      Thank you for your advice- we do appreciate it. This tractor project was purely for fun and for video purposes.

    Got a tractor with a Kawasaki v twin engine which is great, but the carb fitted to this engine is far inferior to the one on this Kohler engine it seems.....

      Oregon and Stens have a fairly good supply of common parts for these (deck parts, etc).

    Did you try and run it first before tearing down the carb? Cleaning it all day won’t help when it’s not dirty. Been doing this stuff a long time and found the place to start is to troubleshoot to fix no start won’t continue to run ect. Then once it runs fix or replace what’s needed. Way too much time and parts trying to make it perfect if you’re trying to earn money.

      Hi Alan. The fuel tank and lines were full of water, dirt , algae and other debris. You’ll notice when we shot fuel down the intake it fired for a second. The tractor has been sitting in our yard like this for many years. We were genuinely curious to see inside the carb. This wasn’t a customer repair. This was a project we pulled out of a graveyard for video purposes and spent alot of time on to show you and others. Thanks for your comments.
