    I have a Huskee 21HP 46" deck that I bought new in 1999. Swapped the stamped front axle for the solid cast option, improved a couple things on the mower deck and replaced the ball joints and regular maintenance parts change but other than that it's all original. Still running strong.

    I like your scissors hoist and chain hoist above it . I take it the deck was alright. good trade for a piece of sheet metal.
    the 7 year wait did wreck that much stuff, considering it was out side.

      The deck shell appears to be solid, but the spindles are seized. It will need a bit of work to get back up and working. I plan on cutting my lawn with this summer 😊

    Tractor still has problems but you’ve come a long way! Part 4? Throttle cable free up or replacement? Rings worn? Leakdown test?

    More of Mumbles but I’m sort of able to follow along - I just can’t hear Tyler’s full explanation and I’d really like to. 😉🔧👍

    Looks like Tyler’s a big Stihl fan! I only have one Stihl chain sharpener so far but can certainly envision a time when I’ll have at least 3 different ones. That’s an amazing set you have to cover every type of chain! I’d probably mark the sizes in huge numbers on both sides.
    I’ve sharpened chains since I was very young and these are for me a total game changer and a real pleasure to use.
    Are you a Stihl dealer?

    Removing that pulley assembly was a real struggle! Was there a reason for not using an impact wrench?

    • @marriedwithsmallengines
      @marriedwithsmallengines  8 месяцев назад

      This can be done with an impact or hand tools. We chose to use hand tools for the practice ( he uses impacts for everything) and maybe everyone watching doesn't have an impact wrench :)

      I totally under understand. He’s really good with those T-handles. I’ll do everything I can with a cordless drill with clutch unless it needs to be broken free first, which I do by hand because my first impact is still just beyond my reach. I saw a Makita cordless of some kind there. I’ve decided on a Makita 18v impact wrench to start with 1/4 drive adapter. I really respect everything Makita makes. I’m restoring a freebie compressor for my own use. It’s more powerful, smaller and quieter than a Ridgid curb find I got when I first started.

    Except that my Huskee is gear driven it's basically the same thing as the Craftsman here.

      Yes, These garden tractors came in various names and colours - Craftsman, Husqvarna, Poulan... We have a couple larger Poulans out back - may do a scrap it or fix it series on one of them :)

      SO TRUE! Too many people today look at lawn and garden equipment as disposable and buy new ones every year. Fixing or repairing something isn't possible in their world

    I would always fix em. If nothing else, make a go cart for the kids or a racing tractor or stretch the frame and put a cargo bed on the back. Lots of things can be done with those larger tractors. Add a home-made 3 point hitch. Install electrics and an electric log splitter on it. Ideas are endless.
