By the way everyone the first OFFICIAL tip is at about 6:00 in the video. If you wanna skip the passionate love story of "Erin and Anthropology" that's where you skip to. Okay, cool, peace
I double majored in anthropology and Chinese and graduated in may! This video was super helpful, thank you! Interested in pursuing something in biological anthropology now
This is the first video I’ve found about Anthropology and job prospects/ major stories that is relatively recent since I’ve started college in 2018. 👏🏾👏🏾
As a Anthropology and Social Science undergraduate, I recommend going back to Community College and get a certificate in an area for potential work. A lot of entry level government jobs only require a college BA to take the exam. A certificate in the area of the exam will help you pass. Any experience in that area is a plus, but not necessary. I became a Government Real Property Appraiser and retired after 22 years.
This helps a lot. I was researching whether or not anthropology would be the best fit for me in university and was hoping that there'd be a demand for is after I graduate but this makes me more informed. I'm also able to make a more informed decision. Thank you!
@@StoryUnlocked i definitely plan on studying anthropology (along with something practical). This week I'm looking at jobs that would be positively effected with my the background I will have on anthropology :)
The subjects I am the most interested in anthropology are the ones that involve of course science, culture, primates and animals, genetics, evolution and biology. I do not know what jobs I would get with those subjects though or what type of anthropology studies involve that, is minoring or majoring in anthropology enough? What opportunities or jobs do I have open for that?I know money should not be a factor but I am just curious about what my job prospects are etc. Can I have an unrelated major? It is not media or photography though, it is currently nursing, it used to be English with a minor in spanish and politcal science. Nursing is probably not practical, right? Would English, Political Science or Spanish be? Or only journalism, media, marketing?
You mentioned about choosing something practical to go along with anthropology. Which is more practical? Major in media and minor in anthropology or the other way around. Major anthropology, minor media/film. I’m asking because I’m kinda like you. I’m into film media stuff but I’m also into cultural, ethnicity , people studies, etc which I assume falls into anthropology. I wanna improve in storytelling in combination with film and history. Then there’s the thought of creative writing or English in general for storytelling. What is a good combination you think? Or in your case, if you could go back would you change your major/minor? What combination would you choose if you could go back?
Omg wow, thank you so much for this video. I'm from Tanzania actually! Karibu kwetuuu😂❤ I was really hyped seeing you took you skills in anthropology here🥳🥳 Im really interested in doing a degree in anthropology but I scared about the whole "that wont get you a job" after graduating. I'm not in uni yet, but I finished high school. I was wondering if a minor or second degree in communications as a practical would be a good pair with anthropology? But thank a ton for this, ydekk❤❤
Hey! I have a double bachelors in Spanish & cultural anthropology. I spent a summer in Spain & loved being immersed in a whole new world. It was amazing... Can you possibly suggest a path to take. I graduated a year ago & feel as though I’m not moving towards my goals of doing fieldwork in cultural anthropology, preferably in a Spanish speaking country.
My sister immersed herself in Spanish culture too, you could try providing online English classes to Spanish speakers, or Spanish lessons to English speakers, and it could lead you to a Spanish speaking country as a teacher in the future. But that’s just one idea
Hey thank you so much for making this video. I'm a recent Anthro graduate and currently working in an internship but also trying to look for entry level jobs in related fields to cultural/linguistic anth. Do you have any advice about where to or what to apply for?
I would just recommend learning as many job related skills as possible, employers want someone who can do the work. If you can do anything in the field, where you work is up to you :)
Did majoring in new media studies make you feel more confident about finding a job rather than majoring in cultural anthropology? & would you have rather made new media studies your minor? Thanks, awesome vid!! :)
Yes, majoring in New Media studies made me feel ore confident about finding a job. I did find that having the background in anthropology gave me a mindset that I'll carry for the rest of my life, and I think that mindset helps me to work better with each client when they can all be so different. It helps me understand how to tailor my solution for each of them, rather than give them a cookie cutter solution
maaam , I'm a graduted student in Anthropology and i've done some fieldwork for couple of months in many small indian village community and created ethnographic report on it. ive also done an Archeological fieldworks as well...i am really searching for jobs. can i get your contact? really need to talk
Brother i m doing my graduation in Anthropology and in 3rd year i m very curious about how i get job in my subject or i leave if there is no scope of this in India because i have not much time. Please answer brother.
Hiya, this was a great video and really gave me more motivation for anthropology. I wanted to ask something and I don't know for certain if you would know the answer to this, but is it good to pair anthropology and archaeology together? Those are my two majors right now (leaning more towards archaeology being my main).
Yeah I think those two together would be great together! Sounds like a true specialization. If you want to go into archaeology, it's nice to be able to understand what questions you'd be asking about modern day cultures to understand them because you might be able to ask similar questions for civilizations of the past. The only difference is, you can't talk to the people of the past. You only have what they've left behind.

I think major in anthropology and minor in media
ultimately it’s up to you, but I know that she took a major in media (film, editing etc.) with a minor in anthro

@@StoryUnlocked I’ll definitely take that into consideration. Thank you!
This is really good core information for me as an aspiring anthropologist. 😏
What about online degree. Is it valid?
Is UTSC University of Toronto Scarborough? I am also in that school.
Yes it is! :)
What are your views on marketing anthropologist??

Hii mam i want to do anthropology degree in distance education. It is valuable or not?! I expect your reply!
Depends on what you want to do. If it's something in international development or global affairs, I would definitely recommend it.
