Good morning Carers and Adine and the wonderful Herd with little big girl Khanyisa. I learn more of the elephant Tokwe smell a wild animal she is the Matriarch (?) a great job she stand of the Herd. Thank you for sharing these beautiful videos at such a difficult time for our country n the people of S Africa. May we see calm and peace return.🕊🕊 Adine n team stay safe. 🙏💗💞
she looks soooo tiny....soo sweet and innocent ....so brand new learning about life surrounded by the females showing her the way. How loving this herd is and caring.
IMO Limpopo is Sebakwe's daughter if you follow the logic that in an established herd only the dominant bull gets to breed. Jabulani is second in the hierarchy ever since Fishan broke his leg in 2018. Anyway that's my 2 cents but Adine has said before that even she doesn't know bc she didn't see them in the act of breeding when asked this question before.
wonderful how we follow SETOMBE around 17:00 with Her jaunty Hollywood strut! One can only guess She's happy this morning. KLASERIE beautifully aligns with Mom. Adine, could you photo everyone's trunk, so we can learn who's who just by the trunk?
IMO it would be better to photo their tusks. That's one of the major traits that helped me learn to identify all 17 by sight in 6 months!! Yes I'm obsessed and in love with this herd and HERD orphanage and their mission to save our baby elephants!! #STOPSNARING
After picking up a new scent, every elephant looked pretty serious… I could feel their family bond~ This morning walk was beautiful~ 💞 Thank you for sharing this video!🤗
this is a lovely video. Hope the camera suffered no damage from the swipe by Khanyisa :) how can wild elephants and maybe even lions get close to the same store of water that the HERD elephants visit? Are there no fences between the HERD land and the nearby nature reserve? often one sees Zoo confined elephants need attention given to their feet but the HERD elephants never need this - is that because of the natural way the HERD elephants live via long walks every day into terrain with different surfaces - rocky area, sand or vegetation filled areas. the long walks would also help keep them healthy and alert and give them lots of enrichment and wisdom re what they can eat and do.
What beautiful eyes elephants have I could watch them for hours .THE EYES ARE THE WINDOW TO YOUR SOUL AND THEY HAVE A BEAUTIFUL CARING HEART .I READ IT IN ENOCH THAT IT TOOK NOAH 100 YEARS TO BUILD THE ARK AND THE ELEPHANTS WALKED THOUSAND OF MILES TO LEAD THE ANIMALS TO THE ARK . OUR LORD TOLD THE ANIMALS TO WALK AND THEY DID.. AND PEOPLE SAY WE HAVE NO GOD . THE ANIMALS KNOW WE HAVE A GOD BECAUSE THEY HAVE A SOUL .WONDERFUL OUR LORDS ANIMALS ARE MY ROTTWEILER LILLY LOVES WATCHING THEM BLESSING TO THEM ALL KEEP THEM SAFE AND ENJOY LIFE THE WAY OUR LORD WANTS THEM TO BE GOD BLESS TO YOU ALL
Oh, Lord, I do so wish I were there! I truly enjoy the walkabouts...and never tire of the sound of the scuffing of their giant feet, or the different sounds like when they're drinking water. Was that Pisa who was slurping? Fishan appears to be developing better flexion with his injured leg, and dear Kumbura--never far away from Kanyisha. Please don't let it end...
Please, don't change a thing❣ I just found your channel! I'm so happy! I'm an elephant lover too! Thank you for repeating their names, as it really helps to get to know them! Thank you very much for your time! 🌱🐘 Your writing and naming each elephant was really interesting and helpful, especially since I'm just learning. Thank you very much to you all! ps. They're gaits are all very unique! Fascinating!!!
I’ve watched the video that Khanyisa just joined the herd and I’m so glad to see her again in the very comfortable and peaceful atmosphere of the herd :) Thanks for your updating. BTW how do you guys know the all the name of the elephants? l can only distinguish them by their size so far.
Since all these elephants are a "herd" , why would they not survive out in the wild...alone? Or are they just used to be taken care of by these wonderful carers and Adine that they would not survive without their shelter at night? Or would not survive in that area? I understand about Khanyisa, needing her milk, but do the others "prefer" to be taken care of?
The elephants are safe as long as they are together and can protect one another and especially the young calves. Our carers also walk with them to add further protection from all predators. The carers are protected by the elephants as the herd will scare away lions, for instance, and stand guard
The herd going into protection mode is amazing to see. It's amazing to see that after being in the care of humans for a lengthy period of time, they still maintain and practice their wild instincts. @ 6:11, you can see that Tokwe understands that the humans are there to protect them all - to take over the role of protection as she kind of gives up that role when she turns to head towards the watering hole herself. She knows that her family is safe. I want to add that they understand their family is different than the one they were originally brought up in. (not the younger animals who were rescued when they were young, they would not know the difference). In the wild, the males don't run with the females, here, in their family, they understand and accept that. Do you wonder if they ever think that if the other herds only knew how well they had it, . . . . . how lucky they were, . . . . how spoiled they were? lol I do. Do the wild lions and jaguars ever come to use this watering hole? I have sooooo many questions that are really not appropriate to ask here on such a public forum. Mind you, they are just quizzical questions about the entire herd. Those shots between the legs are amazing! To see how they use their trunks, to see how they tusks actually form the side of their mouths, . . . to see how their lower jaw, which seems so loose, actually has so many muscles in it is simply amazing!
At first I thought Khanyisa was being silly when she bumped Adine, but now after watching again I think Khanyisa smelled the wild elephants while accidentally bumping Adine. Right after this moment thie elephants surrounded Khanyisa. I love how the matriarch stood there and watched Adine talk about it, ok it, and moved on. ❤ Also I don't remember it being so dry last year, can't wait for the explosion of green again. As always its been an enjoyable and interesting walk today, thank you. 👍 Much love ❤
Jabulani looked like he was grooving as he walked down the hill away from the water. I could almost hear a disco tune playin! Lol 🎶 actually there was a few that had some kind of swag to their stepping!
Just finished enjoying this awesome sunrise walk with all the nuances of the day. Khanyisa each day showing more independence ( that swat at the camera!! 😁); the herd stopping, trunks up, sensing something, instantly forming their circle/fortress. Best moment to me, today: Setombe grooving to his own ‘music’, walking with a cool swing, like saying ‘ I feel specially happy today’. Thank you, Adine & carers for showing these awesome walks!💗🐘🐘🐑🐑🌸
I adore walking with the Herd and love these magnificent creatures, but tonight I kept falling asleep and had to go back and watch over again several times. It is so good to know they exist and there is peace and respect between the elephants and their human friends. It soothes my soul knowing they are in the world. Thank you for sharing your lives. 💖🐘💖
Spectacular Sunrise ! 🌅 Khanyisa sure knows how to give a hardy trunk shake Adine .🙀 She has really been using her trunk like a pro. Khanyisa has learned from the best.🐘😇. When you say your going on a journey you really mean your going on a Journey! Wow it seemed like they were walking on clouds ⛅️ 🐘. Once they get there its Manna from Heaven, and it’s all worth it! 🌈🌈🕊 Hugs to all the Herd family 🐘🐑🐑🤗 xoxo. Be Blessed Always 🙏❤️✨
WELL, I really enjoyed that walk:) Khanyisa still looks so small beside the older ones. Beautiful shot from between Somopane's front legs as he drinks! And I love it when they extend their trunks toward the camera, or perhaps the camera owner.. Altogether, wonderful...
Today I felt we were following the Indianapolis 500 race with snack to go . I loved it. Some were almost bouncing. Fishan looks good. Thank you Adine and HERD
I'm only asking because of the Sheldrick orphanage, and the way they prepare these orphans to be released into the wild. I love watching these ellies every single day and the great work that you do and just wondered about the day that Mambo got "lost" and was trying to follow another herd. Was that for mating purposes...probably not....too young, right? I believe these ellies are loved so very much and know that all the carers are awesome and these elephants have been their life. Just wondering, and maybe I've missed some episodes, but is this herd ever going to be truly wild? I love you all at HERD !!!
It has been in my head for a while, Tokwe's patch on her left buttock needs to be redone, a bit more color added by a seamstress on the patch would do. I can go if you want. That is me dreaming awake. Talking about sewing some or most of the eles need a touch up in their pants derriere too loose to be fashionable Seriously, what is that lump? A lipoma like for humans. Just curious I saw others too with lumps. Great work you do there I can feel the love even when one of the carers shouts at them saying "Eh you keep up with the others" mainly for young bulls. I love you all 2 legged or 5 legged,:-)

Aha...ooooo Adine,I totally respect and admire you but... choose your words carefully;) Little k understands, they're sensitive. HER MIND and personality are HUGE💗
the elephants are incredible at picking up the scent of wild animals when they come into close proximity with them - if they come across lions in the reserve they will gather together and always surround the calves, while some of the bulls or older females will likely chase the lions if they are spotted.
Khanysia is doing very well she is becoming so independent. I love it when I see setombe and klaserie together. They have the closest bond to each other of all the elephants. I can't imagine facing Tokwe's group (Lundi, Setompane, Fishan, Jabulani and khanysia) if it were me being the danger to her Herd. Tokwe is by far the most protective of them all. Congratulations to all the team who never stop, to allow us to live minutes every day, close to you if I may say.
Sweet end of day and a starry night of Light

Setombe's rhythmic walk made me want to dance! So smooth, relaxed and carefree. Beautiful! Then there was our dear little K's headbutt of the camera. A new stage in our girl child's development. Never a dull moment😆💕🐘🐑🌿🐶💕
Very very beautiful video ❤️ thank you 🐘🐘🐘
Good morning Carers and Adine and the wonderful Herd with little big girl Khanyisa. I learn more of the elephant Tokwe smell a wild animal she is the Matriarch (?) a great job she stand of the Herd. How wonderful is that. It is a very loving togetherness Herd also with the carers and Adine. This is the best way to safe the elephants though walk with carers. Klaserie have always a smile in her eyes so lovely big girl.Thank you the pleasure you give us as suporters of the Herd Hoedspruit and elephant lovers. It makes my life better and enjoy it very much also I learn everyday more of the elephants of you Adine and Carers.
Love how aunts and uncles look out for pink baby, just like families did when I was young but not anymore.
I love how they form a protective circle when hear or smell something out of the ordinary! Khanysia says she smacked the paparazzi 😂💕💕💕
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😎
Omg I just had a visual of Khanyisa holding an umbrella in her trunk .. THUMP!!.. whacking Adine's camera like Britney Spears back in the day.. Lol!! 🐘🌂📸

Thank you for sharing these beautiful videos at such a difficult time for our country n the people of S Africa. May we see calm and peace return.🕊🕊 Adine n team stay safe. 🙏💗💞
Thank you Rachel 💓 that is so kind, wishing you peace and calm too, there can never be enough harmony to hope for in the world 🐘
Peace and best wishes to S. Africa from the U.K.
Do they know their names, do they obey commands?? Just curious! Love watching them! Thank you. From the USA
Yes, they do! 💚
she looks soooo tiny....soo sweet and innocent ....so brand new learning about life surrounded by the females showing her the way. How loving this herd is and caring.
Is Limpopo Jabulani's daughter?
IMO Limpopo is Sebakwe's daughter if you follow the logic that in an established herd only the dominant bull gets to breed. Jabulani is second in the hierarchy ever since Fishan broke his leg in 2018.
Anyway that's my 2 cents but Adine has said before that even she doesn't know bc she didn't see them in the act of breeding when asked this question before.
Brilliant video as always.naughty khanyisa with the camera 😂
Hope your all keeping safe xx
Take care
Does Tokwe have 2 daughters? Limpopo and Pisa? 😊♥️🐘
Just too beautiful. What is the temperature
If the reserve is close to Heodspruit, S.A., 66°F/19°C. Hope that may help. v
wonderful how we follow SETOMBE around 17:00 with Her jaunty Hollywood strut!
Trunks being the vehicle for intake of information that vitalizes the ELEPHANT BRAIN. Let alone the tremendous tactility for interacting with others.
After picking up a new scent, every elephant looked pretty serious… I could feel their family bond~
This morning walk was beautiful~
💞
Thank you for sharing this video!🤗
this is a lovely video. Hope the camera suffered no damage from the swipe by Khanyisa :)
how can wild elephants and maybe even lions get close to the same store of water that the HERD elephants visit? Are there no fences between the HERD land and the nearby nature reserve?
often one sees Zoo confined elephants need attention given to their feet but the HERD elephants never need this - is that because of the natural way the HERD elephants live via long walks every day into terrain with different surfaces - rocky area, sand or vegetation filled areas. the long walks would also help keep them healthy and alert and give them lots of enrichment and wisdom re what they can eat and do.
Annat...you are right regarding their need to walk. There are no fences at the reserve. It's for all your he animals that live there in freedom.
Your writing and naming each elephant was really interesting and helpful, especially since I'm just learning.
Thank you very much to you all!
ps. They're gaits are all very unique! Fascinating!!!
That baby girl is growing so tall! Such a joy to watch my favorite elephant herd!
🕊🇺🇲💕
I’ve watched the video that Khanyisa just joined the herd and I’m so glad to see her again in the very comfortable and peaceful atmosphere of the herd :)
Thanks for your updating.
Is safe fron predetor???
The elephants are safe as long as they are together and can protect one another and especially the young calves. Our carers also walk with them to add further protection from all predators. The carers are protected by the elephants as the herd will scare away lions, for instance, and stand guard
I’m so glad you asked that! I’ve also wondered the same thing
Also I don't remember it being so dry last year, can't wait for the explosion of green again. As always its been an enjoyable and interesting walk today, thank you. 👍
Much love ❤
Khanyisa sure knows how to give a hardy trunk shake Adine .🙀 She has really been using her trunk like a pro.
Talking about sewing some or most of the eles need a touch up in their pants derriere too loose to be fashionable
Seriously, what is that lump? A lipoma like for humans. Just curious I saw others too with lumps.
Great work you do there I can feel the love even when one of the carers shouts at them saying "Eh you keep up with the others" mainly for young bulls.
I love you all 2 legged or 5 legged,:-)
how bout a video where you go through the names of the elephants and the thinking behind each name.
Thank you for the idea, Nate!
it's kind of a silly idea but I think it could be enjoyable. I imagine at least half of them have a story associated with their name. blessings.
What a loss not to have Mopane. Sucks.
This a great video!
Hello from Denmark 🇩🇰 What a great beautiful start, I loved watching Timisa and Pisa running to join the family 🙌 It has been almost 3 years since Fishan injury and it’s make me glad to see him walking well 😊 It’s funny to know that Lundi has a habit of splashing Adine with water😅 Thanks again for sharing your beautiful photos and videos with us ♥️🙌♥️ ✌️🙋🏻♀️
Ahhhh, another day of family, fun, friends, and foraging!!! A great day ahead!!! 💕💕
Africa is such a beautiful country 🙂
Africa is a WHOLE continent, encompassing many different countries. Thank you. The continent is so large that you could fit the USA into its borders 2 and 1/2 times.
We are ALL from Africa!!! Wish humans would remember that...v
Tokwe’s not going to rest until she finds the intruder! Oh wait….there’s a tree to eat first.
Our matriarch is moonlighting as a tree surgeon these days.. Lol!! 🐘🔪🌲
@@Debra-my9cg Good one!!

Maybe in my next life I would be able to walk with the beautiful family of elephants 💗🐘 from San Diego California USA 🇺🇸
❤️
Who new that a little orphan named Jabulani would start all of this great work in South Africa 🇿🇦 He also will play a huge part (along with Khanyisa) to save their species 🙏🏻🐘❤️
Amen to that!! Khanyisa and this herd are definitely helping me get through this pandemic!! I love them all sooo much!! 💙💜💚❤🐘🐑🐑🐕(Nandi)

Thank you HERD!
For the first time Khanyisa doesn't look totally tiny next to the adults!
🤗💞✌ I always think our Miss K' is growing so fast. Getting bigger by the Minute....... Then she joins her family members for the day..... Not so big after all.. Lol lol lol ok hi
Aha...ooooo Adine,I totally respect and admire you but... choose your words carefully;) Little k understands, they're sensitive. HER MIND and personality are HUGE💗
Thank you for the beautiful walk today. I hope you all have a great weekend. 💜🐘💜🐘💜🐘💜🐘💜🐘💜🐘
You can sure tell how much she has grown in the past year, looks very healthy 🐘
I keep saying it - fascinating creatures !!
5:30 instant defence mode
That never fails to amaze and humble me ❤
Khanyisa's headbut clearly said off limits. like leave me alone. Watching how carefully they walk down the slope is amazing.
“Tokwe brought a tree, again. Then, Jabulani took the tree from her.” Lol, wish that had been caught on camera. (I see she got herself another one.)
She is a matriarch/tree surgeon.. Lol!! ❤🐘🌲
@@Debra-my9cg lol, and a pruner.
Why do you think Lundi likes to splash you? I'm curious about this behavior. 🤔
It's her signature move! 😂
Does she splash anyone else? Or is that something she shares only with Adine?
Thank you for this monumental video, a majestic scenario with the incredible giants... It gives you the sense of infinity... 😘🐘
Where are the lion ?
the elephants are incredible at picking up the scent of wild animals when they come into close proximity with them - if they come across lions in the reserve they will gather together and always surround the calves, while some of the bulls or older females will likely chase the lions if they are spotted.
No worries we got elephants. Lions not welcome. Puny lions, bah
Julie Lespinasse I love you!!!
How many kilometers do they cover in one day?
Khanysia is doing very well she is becoming so independent. I love it when I see setombe and klaserie together. They have the closest bond to each other of all the elephants. I can't imagine facing Tokwe's group (Lundi, Setompane, Fishan, Jabulani and khanysia) if it were me being the danger to her Herd. Tokwe is by far the most protective of them all. Along with Lundi of course. Timisa is looking good and well without the bottle. Great video. Thank you.
