As someone from Chicago. True Chicago pie has the sauce on the very top. Thaose are just deep dish standard pizza's. Just imagine an inverted pizza. Cheese, then toppings then sauce. You'd love it
I’ve had many pizzas that claimed to be “deep dish”, but all they are, are pizzas with very thick crusts and the same amount of topping as a thin crust pizza. THESE pizzas are the real thing with deep pie-type crusts and packed full of delicious toppings. I’m buying my tickets for Manchester right now!

I'm a Chicago native and I'm glad that you tried the deep dish. When you get the chance to visit the States again, make sure to put Chicago on the list so you try it from its original place of birth right alongside tavern-style pizza, the Chicago hotdog, Italian beef, friend chicken and some good Mexican food!
Chicago is the food haven of America, they got some of the best steaks in the whole country! When I visited Chicago, I was in heaven! The food is insane there even the small shops. 😀

Danny, those deep-dish pizzas you have there are more like Detroit-style pizzas than they are Chicago. Unlike Shy Town's offerings, the Big D doesn't put everything upside down, like they do in the City of the Big Shoulders. Just want to say that you did a bang-up job on your America tour, but there's a lot more country left to taste test! You're a regular guy and a great food ambassador!
Manchester's a CRACKING place. If memory serves, I think that beautiful portico building opposite is The Whitworth Art Gallery.. There used to be a place in Soho in that London called The Chicago Pizza House, and they had a 4 cheese deep pan job in there called 'Yes Sir Cheese My Baby'.. Very satisfying if you're a Yorkshireman who likes pies.. Very cheesy. And very deep. Just like me! Nice one Danny! 🌟👍
Keep in mind, the norm in Chicago is thin crust. Deep dish is a fun alternative but one really has to be in the mood. Then again, I usually devour either.

If you ever come to Chicago, the best choices for deep dish pizza are Lou Malnati’s and Uno’s(Ohio Street only!) You must also try an Italian Beef sandwich, another local specialty…

Still miss the Chicago Pizza Pie Factory in London. The best pizza ever, deep dish pies Chicago style, the one full of meatballs etc was awesome, place was always busy. Couldn't believe it when it closed down!
