100% agree. Pequods if you want really good, genuine Chicago deep dish experience. Lou Malnati’s if you want something good enough that is convenient and Giordano’s- we only eat if it’s free.
Wow I’m stunned you judged Giordano’s deep dish pizza because I’ve had it vast times in my life, and it is a delicious deep dish pizza which is made with the best cheese from Wisconsin and other premium ingredients.
Technically Giordano's is not deep dish pizza it is called Stuffed Pizza. It is a totally different construction The dough used in Stuffed Pizza is usually the same dough used in thin crust and rolled out the same way They use the same type of pan as deep dish but the crust in deep dish is usually a different type of recipe The dough in deep dish generally is very very oily and makes it flaky, plus it ferments usually 1 to 3 days so it has a kind of wine or beer flavor. This is what makes deep dish unique is the fact that they use a very different type of dough. Construction of Stuffed Pizza: bottom layer of dough rolled out, then sauce, then grated cheese, then ingredients, then TOP layer of dough, then sauce. The two layers of dough make it stuffed Construction of Deep Dish: bottom layer of dough pressed into the pan, then cheese slices not grated, then ingredients, then sauce Stuffed always takes about 10 minutes more than deep dish Try these next: Pizzeria Uno (they invented deep dish), Gino's East (are famous for yellow crust)
I was STUNNED when you said Giordanos is trash 😂 my wife and MIL had a pizza off with me and I audibly gagged when I ate Lou Malnati's pizza. It was bland, no seasoning and just disgusting to me. I haven't had Pequod so im interested in trying it when we move there this summer from Texas (my wife is from Chicago & I'm from Louisiana). Loved this video! I love the pizza debates lol
Stfu it ain't just for tourists. Many Chicagoans like myself eat it regularly. We just switch off: deep dish one week, tavern style the next, and on and on. That's what I do.
@@brandondominguez5540Same. I feel like we were getting sht for so long, people just started denying that deep dish is good. I wouldn't say one is better than the other but they both have their place. Also, Pequods is my jam.
Caira I love you but… You spelled Giordanos right initially and then wrong in the clip, Pequods wrong in the beginning but did fix it later, and Lou Malnati’s is pronounce Mahl-Nahtees, you kept adding an L and calling it mahl-naLtee and it drove me a little nuts 😂
Nice production on your video but I would suggest getting the same toppings on each pizza if your intention is to judge them objectively. Vegetables will almost always leach moisture into the pizza. The Pequods location in Lincoln Park is their second location. The original is in Morton Grove, a close northern suburb. I get the comment of Lou Malnatis feeling more like a chain. The one thing I will point out is Lou Malnati's as a business is a case study on how to organically build a business and maintain quality and consistency throughout locations. I grew up walking distance from their original Lincolnwood location. Over the years I have been to several Lou's locations. Each restaurant has its own character by design, however the pizza is remarkably similar no matter which location you choose.
I cannot wait to return to my hometown. Counting the days. Pizza pizza pizza Lakefront, Lakefront, Lakefront pizza pizza pizza. I love Chicago. I prefer the local spot.❤
Malnotti’s is my all time best pizza! Our kids just sent us Malnotti’s here in SoCal. They ship all over US on dry ice! We have missed Chicago pizza and dogs so much since moving here!
Too bad this video didn't come out a year ago. In retrospect, I'm also a bit mad. I'm definitely adding Lou's and Pequods to the list for my next trip to Chicago.
Never really had a deep dish pizza in Chicago besides gino's east ...I don't like the crust and they put way too much sauce on their pizza there! Can you maybe do a vlog of your favorite places to get a cheeseburger in Chicago? Thanks for sharing beautiful lady😘😘😘 xox
Rate the pizza not the server. The server isn’t cooking for pizza nor is able to sit and baby the oven. 3 ppl,a video camera, a stop watch, a small pizza no apps is a nightmare. Just be mindful. You’re selling Chicago and a 45 min - 1hr pie should surprise you.
I’m a third generation Chicago native Giordanos is NOT deep dish, it is stuffed which was created by Nancy’s restaurant on Central Avenue back in the day
For anyone else watching/reading the comments and visiting, you'll also see Gino's East and Pizzeria Uno, but I would say they are quite subpar compared to the 3 Caira went to. Also last time I was at Gino's the service was TERRIBLE.
Question...I know this may not be your specialty but I'm a senior looking for an apartment that accepts section 8 vouchers...do you have any knowledge of any?
Went to Pequods tonight and would never recommend it. We had 3 cockroaches come try to join us for dinner. One crawled on my arm and literally knocked me on the floor. The food wasn't great. There wasn't much for service. Just order vis QR and your food comes whenever. 0 out of 10 for me. 👎
Lou Malnati's all day for me! But it's pronounced like mall-nottys, not ma-naltys, just a heads up for future reference :D

I couldn’t have written this comment better myself.
well said
Lou's is the gold standard.
There's no competition: Lou's every time.

or maybe it's just that your taste buds are impaired probably from eating all that Louisiana hot spicy cooking.
For the tourist that come to. Chicago deep dish is for tourists, if you want real Chicago pizza you gotta get thin crust Tavern style.
Only real Chicagoans eat tavern style 😊
I've had Italian Fiesta and thoroughly enjoyed it when I visited
@@ReneeMonroe88love that pizza the on south side

I need someone to laugh at me with love the way you laughed at Alex with that pizza clamp… so cute 😭😭😭

Ooh that’s super interesting!! And yes definitely hear you about the toppings. I was more focusing on what each place had as their specialty.
I cannot wait to return to my hometown. Counting the days. Pizza pizza pizza Lakefront, Lakefront, Lakefront pizza pizza pizza. I love Chicago. I prefer the local spot.❤
At Giordano’s I only get the spinach deep dish pizza… Ya’ll gotta try at least once in your life.
I need a deep dish pizza now! So yummy!!
Malnotti’s is my all time best pizza! Our kids just sent us Malnotti’s here in SoCal. They ship all over US on dry ice! We have missed Chicago pizza and dogs so much since moving here!
Loved the video...one correction with pronunciation of Lou's 😊 its Malnati's without an 'L' in the 2nd syllabal 😊😊
That one’s very tough for me lol
Now I am homesick after this video. I was usually partial to Lou’s for deep dish 🍕💜👋
Pequads isn’t deep dish, it’s pan which is more similar to Detroit style.
Pequods all dayyy! Also Bartoli’s is really delicious, they have locations in West Town and Roscoe Village!
Surprised Pizzeria Uno and Pizzeria Due didn't make the list since those came before these 3 yous mentioned and Ginos East
If I could have fit more pizza in my belly those would have been my next picks
The original Pequods Pizza location is in Morton Grove. Pequod’s is the best!
Too bad this video didn't come out a year ago. In retrospect, I'm also a bit mad. I'm definitely adding Lou's and Pequods to the list for my next trip to Chicago.
What about Unos? That's the one we out of towners always hear about.

Lou's for deep dish....my fave
For huge pizza Bacci...omg it feed 10 of us

Best for deep dish ready-made by the slice …. Art of Pizza, Printers Row! 💚🤍❤️
From last fall? You sure hung onto this video😂😂 I want pizza so badly now!🍕🍕
Pequods has 2 locations actually .. Lincoln P and Morton Grove
I had no idea!
We have Lou's in Phoenix suburbs.
Piasans from Cicero best pizza hands down.
I’m a third generation Chicago native Giordanos is NOT deep dish, it is stuffed which was created by Nancy’s restaurant on Central Avenue back in the day
Came here to say the same thing lol. Apples and oranges comparison.
Giordano's all day 😎
In last few years, Peaquod's name came up out if nowhere. I did not like it. It makes me think, they have some connection, to bring up their name.
Pequods is technically pan pizza, not Chicago deep dish
0:44 Hi Robert!!!
Repeat after me: “Mal. Nat. Ee.” Not “Ma. Nal. Ti.”

People who tell me they like giradanos. I take no advice on food from. Your absolutely missing one of the and that’s ART OF PIZZA

I'm a Gino's East girlie!!!
I WANT PIZZA
You were pretty right on with Giordano's until you said it's really good. No it isn't. It's just pretty good. Crust is terrible.

No Labriolas
Ouch !! Your voice tho
Giordanos is not even close to being considered to be the best pizza in the city.

Ahhh that’s wild!!!!
