      Same as you would normally wear on your body, I have a video on testing its waterproofness, and I was wearing a wool jumper under it, and there was no discomfort at all. The jacket is a size large, and I'm large with all jackets. Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed the video.

      No Mike, I've got to many jackets and I have to pay for them aswell, if I get another one I'll probably consider it an addiction and get professional help. 🤪 My outdoor religions are actually to get by with small amounts of kit and ride on the quality of person behind the clothing but I've ended up with more kit to see me through my entire life so I need to put a lid on my habit of buying outdoor gear thinking things will be better out there for me. Really I've got some of the best you can get so I'll try and leave it at that but thanks for asking I appreciate that 👍

    Can you use heat wax on this for extra protection? For example revolution race's own brand or fjallraven's wax?

    • @Andy-walkaboutnutty
      @Andy-walkaboutnutty  2 года назад

      I should imagine you can, it's they're gear? I've never heard of RRs wax and never used it so I can't give you any information I'm afraid.

    What kind of smock ( I think that's what you called it) did you put on?

    • @Andy-walkaboutnutty

    The Cyclone jackets and pants membrane has 15 000 mm watercolumn and 20 000 g/m²/24h breathability. Weight of a medium sized jacket is 680g.

    Hi Andy, I dont know how often you have used the Cyclone jacket in the rain but I have found that it is not waterproof at all without a DWR treatment. I was completed soaked to the skin just on the second time I used it! Do not rely on Waterproof claims, the material is not waterproof, it's only the DWR treatment that makes it water resistant

    • @Andy-walkaboutnutty
      @Andy-walkaboutnutty  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for bringing it to my attention GMW, I have never used this Jacket in serious rain but it was advertise as being waterproof by the SAS guy mark Billy billingham, you might of seen it so I believed the advertising from such a person. I did have some small doubts because it was popular with skiers and soaking British mountains and dry snowy alpine mountains are different. I'm now thinking about bringing it to other people's attention with a video, it will take time because it needs to rain on my day off and i don't like to claim something that isn't true so thanks for that and sorry you got wet on your day out.

      @@Andy-walkaboutnutty Thanks Andy - I don't want to come across being totally negative, I like the jacket and it continues to serve me well. I was just caught out one day in the Wicklow Mountains, which made for an unpleasant and potentially dangerous hike.
      My understanding is that if something is advertised as waterproof, then it is on its own merit and does not require additional treatments. Just as an awareness piece really to ensure that DWR treatments are maintained on a regular basis.
      I spoke with RR and they confirmed that it needs DWR treatment and that the fabric is not waterproof without it.

      There is no way DWR treatment makes anything waterproof, it's a membrane that is doing most of the job. I assume that this particular jacket is using diffusion-type membrane, as well as every other jacket in a low price range. Indeed DWR coating helps it a lot, but that how diffusion works. However these membranes resist to the water quite good even without DWR to some extent. I went through a week of rain in Tatra mountains in my Bergans jacket and it kept me dry. But, if you want more water resistance, you should use other types of membranes, for example Gore-tex, which are obviously much more expensive.

      @Andy-walkaboutnutty  2 года назад

      @@MrKhimik I'll be testing this when I have the chance and show what it can or can't do. I've used quite a few gortex jackets over the years and yer, they are as good as you can get. 👍

    • @Andy-walkaboutnutty
      @Andy-walkaboutnutty  Год назад

      The build and stitching is a good quality, that's what will through you, but I think it belongs on dry, snowy alpine mountains or in the street, not the British High hills and mountains where it's extremely damp. it could end up being fatal for someone in the winter. That's the whole reason I did the video after someone said it wasn't waterproof. Thanks for watching drozd maxim 👍

    How can you give an honest review of a supposed waterproof jacket when its bone dry 🤔

    • @Andy-walkaboutnutty
      @Andy-walkaboutnutty  8 месяцев назад

      Because officially, that's it primarily function. So why not. It is waterproof after being treated with a waterproofing agent. I've tested it and videoed it when it failed, and now it's been treated. It past, so it's waterproof 🤔😏

      Well did it not occur to you to review it's "primary function" 🙄

    • @Andy-walkaboutnutty
      @Andy-walkaboutnutty  8 месяцев назад +1

      @BillSikes. no. When it failed, it didn't fail miserably. My clothes underneath were dry. However, some drops came through, and that rain was so hard that not even gortex would stop it. I know that for a fact from experience. I like this jacket, it's comfortable, well built, strong and now is my main go-to. I'm happy with it and I would buy another when it wears out, which is probably not for a long time. Anyways, thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoyed it.
