I actually got this guide for free with my Platinum Preorder at Target in Australia! It’s such a bulky thing, and my copy has definitely seen better days, but I do know a few things about it. During the era around Platinum’s release, they were actively advertising the events for that Level 100 Regigigas, the Secret Key, and Oaks Letter, which explains the Regi’s showing up early in the book, and Shaymin Sky Form on the cover. I also believe Platinum was released at a time there wasn’t updated Sugimori art for most of the Gen 2 Roster for whatever reason.
Pokemon x and y are good games. It really needed Pokemon Z ,I hope it happens in the upcoming years we get kalos remake or sequel. If it happens then it will be best games ever
@@dabmonstr7403 exactly, the world is incredibly detailed, the variety of available Pokémon is vast, but not overbearing, and it has my personal favorite art style out of the 3D games. If they were just a bit harder they would be the Platinum of the 3D games.
Nah still the worst region since gen 2. It looks worse than all the other 3d games, and worse than the ds 2d games at the same time. Its the easiest game by some margin and the game just hands you some of the best pokemon instead of working for them. Like in sinnoh you get a lucario by beating a mini dungeon, hatching an egg, maxxing its friendship and levelling it all the way from 1. Meanwhile kalos just gives you a mega lucario, one of the most broken pokemon in the game, and it’s mandatory. It adds barely any new pokemon, and so many routes are empty. Nothing like the mansion, old chateau, valor resort and lost tower (in d/p) which are all completely optional side areas.
@@dabmonstr7403 I do rather not like how there are so many rivals at once that they don't really get developed, how Mega Evolutions were supposed to be the big thing the region introduces but limit what you can use severely and gives so few to the opponents you face, and while this last one is completely subjective, I also hate how it basically started what I consider to be the Charizard Oversaturation
Am I the only one who finds it weird how early in games you get legendary pokemon? Most give you the box legendary before the Elite Four but in this game you have a chance to get 4 legendary pokemon before the 8th gym. I think that's more then any other gen (gen 1 is 2 of the birds and I don't count the gen 8 DLC)
In OR/AS you can get an absurd amount of legendaries before the Elite 4. Like you could have a full team of legendaries and then some, and that's exactly what I did in my first run of the Elite 4 back when I was a kid. My team was Latios, Groudon, Palkia, Ho-Oh, Regigigas and Tornadus-Incarnate. I find it kinda funny that kid me picked the likes of Tornadus and Regigigas over my starter.
the thing at 28:40 about how you should "steal inside the base to save the captured pokemon" is using an uncommon use of the word steal which might be what's tripping you up. In this context it basically means to sneak.

I just watch these to catch up on the "story" because even though I'm 28 and haven't played a pokemon game since original gold and silver the new game is finally what I wanted as a kid
Hi from the future here and pokemon platinum is still the definitive way to experience sinnoh
Yes even with the slow ass health bars
The Platinum Guide was my favorite nintendo guide, read through it a lot as a kid
"While it's still the definitive version." It still is over 1 year later xD
23:20 is probably a reference to the "observe and report" philosophy where companies don't want their employees to get hurt stoping people from doing illegal or otherwise dangerous things.
I remember having that bulky book as a kid. I got the ones for Black and White 1 & 2, Heart gold/Soul silver and platinum.
30:00 Now that's some bold choice of words there sir!
Platinum is definitely still the definitive sinnoh experience. I’ve never finished bdsp
Wow I just realized you passed 100k subs! Awesome job man! Keep it up I love your Nintended videos they’re always fun 😁also congrats on over 100,000 subscribers!!!
I bought this guide for £1 at a car boot, 3 years after buying platinum but it’s actually come in handy. It’s also therapeutic to flip through the Pokédex too.
Ima just say it ur a real king and deserves WAY more subs and likes then you have rn. Your my favorite youtuber thanks for making my life easier with your vids.
I also skipped Platinum (and HGSS) and I just finished both in Sept. my fave era of pokemon gaming
6:16 When you said "a Wii video game console" I thought you'd gone Scottish on us for a second
0:04 My god people RELY didn't like your opinon on the starters
I had this guide as a kid and I loved it, not for the gameplay tips, but I used it for the Pokédex. I loved drawing Pokémon as a kid, usually just directly imitating the art I saw but it was still so cool
17:55 - It's no wonder Mothman didn't win against Maylene when you have him use Tackle.
Whilst it is a shame that the guide was underwhelming, despite it's nice coverage of move-sets and berries, it was really cool seeing a fairly distinct team. Tangrowth was a unique choice for this fun run of what is my 2nd favourite Pokémon game.
“Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl witch will only improve on the Sinnoh experience.”
Ah. Aged like milk.
that comment about BDSP releasing and improving on the og games aged like milk
lol
28:28
That is technically correct grammar, but I've never seen this Olde English phrase used that way. It's usually used like "to steal away", which means "to sneak AWAY quickly and quietly". But this writer used it to mean "to sneak INTO quickly and quietly".
This is the one guide I actually own nostalgia is crazy
This guide was actually clutch for me as I hadn't played a game since Crystal and it was a big help for the new Pokémon and informing me on the special and physical splits
Love the Scott Pilgrim reference starting at about 5:27 :)
finally my fav pokemon game of all time! I've enjoyed all of the nintended videos, but this... does put a smile on my face
I haven't played Platinum in ages. I'm not sure what happened to the copy I used to play growing up. I wonder if my big brother has it 🤔. I still have Diamond though lol! Thank you for another fun video!
Stay well out there everybody, and Jesus Christ be with you, friends. ✝️ :)
5:26 I understood that reference! Brought a little smile to my day. lol
I played Pokemon Platinum as a kid and had fun, but there is absolutely nothing memorable about it to me other than the weird dimension where you walk on walls. Maybe it was a good game but to me it was just a game to play until the next one
Love the Scott Pilgrim reference though!!
I had this guide when I was a kid! I remember reading through it like a bible multiple multiple times! I teared up a little when you pulled it out :D Good times!
He followed my guidebook! He did it!
“and games they REALLY dont like”
*proceeds to show my favorite games from the franchise*
that was the joke
Haven't met anyone who doesn't have Platinum amongst their favorite Pokémon games!
Nice to meet you, and apologies for breaking your perfect streak
@@chocokittybo Same bro
I loved the guide, read it cover to cover pretty much daily till the weekend when I could play games.
“feet don’t fail me now”
lana del rey read pokemon guides
Platinum is still the definitive Sinnoh game, even with BDSP being released
I already feel called out by the intro. I liked Shield and have never finished Platinum. xD
Such a cool concept!! I'm definitely subscribing, bless the algorithm 🙏🏿. Followed these guides as a kid and this is a flash from the past haha
Pokemon platinum will remain the definitive way to experience modern sinnoh. Legends arceus is its own thing and BDSP will not replace it at all
nah, the reamakes with quality of life changes while looking different will most likely play better. let alone the game speed. the og gen 4 games are just so damn sluggish
If they just make the exp share toggleable, I think bdsp could have a chance at replacing platinum. Unless they make it ungodly easy, that is.
@@haunteddreams1498 they look terrible and qol doesn't replace everything platinum had. Its wait and see now but if oras removed the battle frontier, bdsp might do the same
Yeah seems to be the case unfortunately. I wanted BDSP to be the definitive version just like how HGSS was for GSC.
@@CEDL0W remakes haven't been the same since. They don't put in the same care or effort
I asked for Pokemon Platinum way back thinking it was a sequel
at first I felt dissapointed but eventually came to love seeing all the changes and improvements from DP by myself.
20:15 The "Feet don't fail me now" sounds like it's from the Anastasia song "Journey to the Past" 🤔
I totally thought the same thing! In the original song the line is "Heart don't fail me now."
Also just gotta say... the Anastasia movie is SO underrated. I loved it as a kid and I'm pretty sure it's the first movie soundtrack I ever bought. I'm actually really glad it got a Broadway adaptation recently so that it can finally get some love. (Disney buying Fox, the company who made Anastasia, did also bring it some attention).
“BDSP is going to improve upon the Sinnoh experience and be the definitive version of this generation”
Yikes, that didn’t age too well.
Really kalos is awesome. Just being easy is why people hate it
@@dabmonstr7403 exactly, the world is incredibly detailed, the variety of available Pokémon is vast, but not overbearing, and it has my personal favorite art style out of the 3D games.
It's crazy how they released remakes to Gen 4 so much longer after Platinum, and they're still worse.
Ah yes, my favorite party member: Gabite the Cynthia
All the references to the red Gyarados were likely hinting at the then upcoming Gold and Silver remakes.
Lol. BDSP and him saying it will "Improve upon" Sinnoh. We all had so much hope.
I've Been Looking Forward To This
To "Steal inside" basically means to sneak inside or sneak into a place. It is an odd colloquialism I have not heard for a long time now.
Pokemon pearl is the pokemon game I owned, so I'm excited for shining pearl.
I never played Diamond and Pearl, but my cousin has played Pearl, hence why I'll get Pokémon Shining Pearl.
I never had diamond or pearl. I only had platinum
the thing at 28:40 about how you should "steal inside the base to save the captured pokemon" is using an uncommon use of the word steal which might be what's tripping you up. In this context it basically means to sneak.
