- One year ago I released a video detailing the best setting to use for your Elgato Wave 3 mic. Well one year later there have been a few changes that now allow us to use Elgato Wavelink to drive the best our mics have to offer!

omgggggg i was about to throw this god damn elgato wave link 3 mic out the window cos of how badly it sounded. this has helped so much! still struggling with the compressor plugin as doesn't come up with the other two into my wave link, but I'll figure it out. thank you for this video!

This will blow your mind...2.5 years ago I added my motu m2 audio interface on aux1 in wavelink when I was using the wave xlr. So I ran my main mic with wave xlr then ran my overhead mic input 1 from motu out aux1 worked perfect.

I think u r right. In the beginning of wave link, you could only use their microphone . That's how come I ended up running across and looking at this video cause I wanted to add a new microphone.
I do have some questions on your settings on the Elgato Equalizer, like the use of the right click pass, shelf etc.

You have always been able to add any microphone to wave-link mate. But in the beginning, you could only get Wave-link, by using a Wave 1 or 3 microphone, but if you had a second microphone, it would work in Wave-link too.

So just to confirm you can use any mic, like the blue yeti, rode podmic or beacn mic with wavelink? and all you have to do is use an elgato mic, the streamdeck plus or the wave xlr? I am looking at either the beacn mic which I heard works with elgato wavelink or podmic and the presonus revalator or the wave xlr. I wont be streaming and I need some sort of preamp for an xlr mic if thats the route I go. My primary needs are low noise floor, great monitoring and easy to use EQ. I also would like to be able to use 2x xlr mics but idk if you can do that with the wave xlr with some sort of adapter or whatnot.
I just got stream deck plus and wavelink XLR… can you listen to the broadcast stream mix with this setup and do you plug your headset into the wavelink xlr for this? I have a dual PC setup and looking to move on from the goxlr

Ive tried adding reaper to wavelink file folder and also tried wavelink vst file folder seperatly. Both said installed, but when i go to the green button only eq and noise removal show up?

Hi, what I think you still need is a POP filter(physical) and a De-Esser plugin of your choise.

I, like many others, found the NVIDIA noise removal VST plugin in Wavelink causes delay in my OBS streaming/ recording. Has this issue been resolved?

whenever I click the settings for my audio effects i'm not seeing a VST window appear. can anyone help me out as to why i'm not seeing it? it shows the plugins whenever I scan and I have no problem adding them to my mic
1st great video 👍Im using wave link and wave xlr with Maono xlr microphone, everythings work fine, the only thing i start my game sound is good but on discord, spotify, browser video i got Distortion/cut sound. If i tab out the game or mute my microphone on XLR sound get back ok. You have any idea?

I added some vst but I’m trying to uninstall them and I went to programs and uninstall them didn’t work went to download and deleted it and they still didn’t uninstall, now I can’t even find the vst any ideas where I can find them and how to uninstall it
the problem that i have is kind of weird i can hear the game fine when i play cs2 but when i don't shoot or when i don't speak into the mic everything gets muted but you can hear stuf into the game it's just does not get picked up into the recording / streaming it's really annoying

I’d never recommend copying anyone’s EQ settings because they are set to that individual’s voice. But yes you can use mine as a starting point and go from there
Thanks. I figured out how to install the eq and noise removal but I can’t find the compressor after I downloaded it. When I try to open my file I’ve named “compressor” it says no items match my search. I’m a computer noob so it’s probably a lost cause lol
Update: (And feel free to correct me) but the Reaper Compressor is no longer compatible with the software? Unless you need the paid version of it which was left out of the video if so....
How's your latency when monitoring through the PC? :')
I didn't know until AFTER purchasing the WaveXLR that the "live monitoring" headphone jack on their mics/interface only lets you hear the 'raw audio' of your mic- so you actually aren't hearing what you sound like in your recordings.
Id say the latency is barely noticeable.
What advantages do you see to the Reaper compressor vs the Elgato compressor? (Since you use the Reaper one rather than the Elgato one.)
Hey! Thabks for asking, I believe this video was made prior to elgato releasing their own compressor. That or I completely missed it. As in all things elgato, their compressor is super user friendly, so I now use that one because there is no need to worry about too many settings, just follow their instructions and you're good to go. Now if you're someone who k ows what you're doing then reaper would be solid!
im using the Fifine k688 a dynamic mic with a gain knob built in at the back of the mic, can I sound professional streamer if I use the wavelink? not sure if cheap mics can still sound good compared to expensive mics like the elgato dynamic mics and other dynamic mics the the shure. I plan to buy the elgato stream deck plus to make my audio better using the wave link. I wonder If I can still use the feature of the wavelink if im using a different brand of mic
Yes wavelink can be used with just about any brand of mic. As for a cheap mic sounding pro I'll say this, you won't make a $90 mic sound like an sm7b but you can make a $90 mic sounds great using wavelink/vsts

Am I able to connect an xlr mic while a wave 3 is connected, if so how do I reroute the audio so I can use the xlr mic
Yes, in wavelink simply add the mic (connected to wave XLR) as it's own channel. In essence you'd have two mics
Dumb questions but do the VST's save to the interface. Like say if I got it all set and it sounded very good, Do i have to open up wavelink every time or does it save to the wave xlr interface?
Not a dumb question at all. Wave link must be open for vst to work

Excellent, thank you so much! I wish you had continued showing us your EQ settings as it is a good start point. I was unable to get the ReaComp plugin. The link took me to a package and extracting it to the folder as suggested yielded no added plugins. I will try with the compressor by Elgato, but would appreciate information on whether ReaComp is obtainable now.

I believe you can just use them through wavellink to obs

why cant I add the plugins after I download it to my wave link, I scanned for it and everything but it keeps saying no new audio plugins found
If it’s what happened to me I moved all the plugins to the same folder that wavelink was installed in. Let me know if that helps

so I can understand from you that if I only have stream deck plus and a podmic usb, I can use wave link? bcz I'm not planning to buy elgato wave mics or wave xlr.. I just wanna use podmic usb with stream deck plus. I hope you could help me..
If you buy a stream deck plus, thay gives you the ability to use wavelink with any mic. So yes.

The first thing I would look at is the gain setting. Sounds like it might be set too high

Not sure of you fixed it but I'd check the system volume settings for the mic in windows. You may need to turn it down some in there as well.
So lets say I have a stream deck+ and Rode USB mic, will wavelink run if you don't have a el gato mic? Every person I see usually has a el gato mic when they give these examples, so thats my only concern with purchasing the stream deck+.

@@ghadycaracalla No, unfortunately I never got an answer here, Im now going a more expensive route. I'm just gonna get a Rode Caster Duo, and a Rode Pod mic (XLR).
@@dunamistv4996 I was searching on Reddit elgato community for our question and I found that you only need one of elgato devices such as a mic or wave xlr or stream deck plus just to get access to the wave link software so I think we're good to get the rode podmic along with the stream deck plus and use the wave link software.
I already ordered a stream deck plus and a podmic usb.. I'll let you know when they arrive.

It works with any mic. However you’d be using the wavelink software and VST’s to eq the mic and add other effects and you would not be using BEACN app or rodé unify (for mic at least)

You can download the plug in from Elgato website. I believe in this video I do a walk through on how to add the plugins to wave as well.

I have it downloaded... it's recording fine I'm just getting trouble with the microphone I cannot get the microphone to give me a better quality sound... I don't even know if it's compatible or if this is possible... Again I have everything plugged into my Xbox x and a Dell laptop.... I have the elgato EQ the elgato noise remover and the reacomp... It shows that it's hearing me but when it comes to recording with the game it doesn't seem to work....

Well I just went back to BestBuy The Wave 3 will not work with recording it's only for streaming so I took it back so there's no more information I need for the Wave 3

For everyone with a crap videocard like myself (RTX 10xx) this will not work. For the plugins to work you need to download NVIDIA Audio Effects SDK, and this is only possible for RTX 20XX series and up.
