I live in mount g bro do you still have this thing or did you move it on?
The VS commodore I feel is way too underappreciated, bloody awesome build here mate, good stuff!
Campbell McKenzie I agree!
Good front end with the mac strut, and stripped out they're not that much heavier than an s chassis
V6 being short means all the engine weight is behind the front axle
Wheelbase is the same as an E36, and they're popular enough for drifting as well
Nice work mate!!! I used to have a nice VR sold it for 500 bucks, got a call from the council a few months later they asked me if i wanted to pick my car up since i was the last registered owner, the guy i sold it to just left it on the side of the road hahaha. I told the council to take it away, now these commodore are popular.
This is awesome mate. You are having heaps of fun and i bet its 1/10th the budget of a lot of other cars !
Yeah mate cost very little, couldn't be in an s-chassis for the price of this!
Exactly like my old vr, no gauges except water temp and limiterrrrrrrr. Love it. Sounds the same too
Inspirational! Thats my word to sum this up. Well done mate!!!
UP THE VS!!! I'm building a VS ute with a turbo LS1 as a track hack at the moment
Nice work cob! That performs well for a simple package. The shitloads of hours you've put in has paid off 💪👌
Cheers mate, it sure does!
They definitely have but like any car it's never done haha
@@CorzaBell definitely know the feeling hahaha
Awesome build mate! i have 2 sitting in the backyard at the moment, this has definitely inspired me to continue the original dream!
Yo I really love the stock beat up look on holden cars tis magically great
Love this setup! Wish there were more like it 🤙🏻
Well done young fella,Keep it real, and have fun,and get as much experience as you can, Your car goes great.
Nice car
Definitely stealing a few of your ideas mate it’s a great setup. Well done 👍🏻
I smiled so much watching this.
Definitely giving me motivation to get on with the WH my mate and I got for $300. Just have to find a manual for it when the 4l60 explodes
I call blokes likes this a 'candrive'...cause he can drive ✌ Very nice economical build, with solid results. It really shows you don't have to spend huge $$ to get good results
Dude this is bloody insane I’m doing a vs ute soon with bc coilovers
thats rig is mint
My ears are blessed
nice vid, my first car was a vs like this but auto, I put in a shift kit it would kick out sideways shifting into second. what a beast hahah
See and been in at mount gambier dca was amazing to ride along i it goes so well, such an inspiration
Nice job man.respect
NZ
Looks an Sounds sick plz make more videos of it
Seen you sending it on the track, things mint mate!
The filthy ecotec mang hahaha keep up the good builds
Congrats on the video blowing up man. Sick car 🤟🏻
dude it handels so well
Love this 👌👍
Keep the videos coming for it looks mint
Ahhh the memories green vs used to have one myself she used to love life
My only advice is reloacte the maf to the straight piece of pipe further up. In order to read 100% accurately it needs a good bit of straight pipe before and after it. Might throw the readings off a bit. Looks good otherwise.
Sweet car mate, goes proper hard for a v6 so good on ya 🤙 long live the mighty mang
Go the vs ☝️👍
Can steer would be a hell lot of fun in that thing
Nice work dude. I used to have a VN wagon, Series 1, factory T5.
Did a bunch of things. My first mini spool. Loved getting a HD cushion button clutch when I got around to it. Had a great feel.
Did about a 120 kg weight reduction which was one of the best mods but also probably the worst thing for a daily, but whatever. The performance increase just from doing that was amazing. Also the balance with the V6 up front was way better than a V8. I couldn't believe how well it handled, especially with a camber kit on the front. They are actually great cars and parts were so cheap. Good times.
Cheers mate, yeah the balance is great, 100% of the engine weight is behind the front wheels, they are very underrated for sure!
I'd still love a Nissan but you pay for it haha hard to justify when these are cheap and do the job, could build 3 of these for the price of one Nissan probably lol
nice setup
Please show a video how you extended your control arms ect
Pause the vid at 16:22
Extended using 6mm steel plate with the holes for the ball joint drilled 40mm apart to create the 40mm extension, 6 M8 bolts, hardened washers and nyloc nuts hold it all together
Good shit man! I’m keen to do a VY drift build with my V6 ecotec!
Only just seen this mint vs 💯👌
She beautiful😍
A weapon mate... needs some boost tho my brotha 😊🤘
Cheers mate, nah don't need boost, I wouldn't be able to afford to drive it haha
Hey Corey, would one of those Ecotec superchargers ruin your mpg?
@@amyphillips7461 moreso MPT (miles per tyre)
You needa help me with the vp and coil overs in the rear im in Melbourne now lol
Such a cool budget build, with a few custom bits 👌
What's your clutch setup? Cable or factory hydraulic
Cheers mate!
Stock clutch which for the T5 is cable, Getrag ones are hydraulic
Great vid mate. Does it have to be manual to build a good drift VS commodore or can auto be ok too? Any advice in that regard? Also are pacemakers headers the recommended header for ecotec? Cheers
Sounds like an angry bee on steroids I love it, sounds tuff as
Hella yeah boy 💪
No AC in Australia? Pretty badass 🔥
do more videos on it, I wanna see it slide!
Thanks man, nah it had AC but took it all out haha
sounds sweet!
i remember this from DCA mt gambier
Tip top mate 👌 nice work
Can u do a vid on how u ran the battery wiring trying to figure out the best way to do it on mine
Use some VT/VY lower control arms they are a direct fit and they are the length you are trying to achieve with those spacer plates
Nah extensions are good, fail safe as well cause they'll bend instead of wrecking other shit
Ball joint setup is different on VT arms and the VR/S stuff is better
I have the same colour vs, I wanna drop a LS in it
Good job 👍👍
That looks fun at f#$k to drive!!!
That is killer for a stock eco with 3.08:1 gears
Nice build 👍 👍👍
Thanks mate! Yeah mate it's a blast, more than enough getup to have a good time, and cheap to run too
Love it 👌👌
Hey mate, I am going to get one of these to start drifting and I cant find any good suspension parts like the coilovers and the control arms for camber, do you recommend any or could you reply with the links to where I can get some? thanks mate.
Yo Corey! Mean as car I love it!! Just one quick question, you're running dual calipers, just curious if you got a bracket or how you mounted the second caliper? - pls note I haven't attempted this and don't own a early commodore to see how it would be set up. Cheers bro
Jesse The Unit
Cheers mate! Mounted the same as the standard ones. I just welded a bit of material to the backing plates where I needed to drill the holes, then placed the 2 back to back to get the hole positions and drilled them, pretty easy to do
@@CorzaBell Legend Bro, looking at a few early commodores this weekend to turn into drift builds, means a lot man! keep more vids coming!
Hey mate what was your wheel off set? I know you said +18 but you can only get +15 and +25 on the dspeed website.
Also your car is a bloody weapon 🤙
Sick bratha
Nice one
Nice one mate
where did you get the dual calliper mounting bracket
I made them myself, pretty easy to do
You have your front rotor discs on the wrong way the discs are on the wrong side.
GreaterEgg ran them both ways, makes no difference
Depends on what source you read on Google, some say that some way the other way
Corey Bell I got a full set for mine and they had instructions to specifically run them a certain way other wise they don’t cool as fast.
@@greateregg2667 Yeah they probably have directional/angled fins in the middle,
These ones are the cheapest of cheap and have straight/vertical fins
Fuckin mint brother! Thats gangsta!
Yo dude where did you get the interior done
Love it lol
this makes me want to buy a vs and do shit to it
Hey man, when did you get the car? Looks soo similar to my vs. mine also had ecotec t5
Back in 2016 mate, was an auto
Nice Mate but I cant Like the "no thermostat"
motors not happy ay.
Go a 120f thermo if the 143 was causing dramas. No Thermo Is BAD. just a concisiration. cheers mate good work.
Alex Del cheers for the input mate, only ever took it out cause the old one wasn't opening, being a paddock basher at the time never worried about it
I've got the temp gauge there and manually turn the fan on and off to maintain the temp at 85°C or there abouts
Been like that the last 4 years and hasn't died yet
@@CorzaBell ahhh ok. Hehe that's funny as. Thermofan controlling the temp is new to me.
Wouldnt of even thought of that.
Alex Del I need to buy relay/thermistor kit that will automatically turn the fan on/off for me haha
Just found the beast on snap maps haha
Can you get some more of those coilover plates made mate? I need some for my vr ute!
Zach Vasey find me on Facebook and message me dude
What rpm in 5th at 100kms with the 3.89 and 5 speed? My drift car still has to drive me to work 😅
im trying to figure this out atm also lol. old mate looks like hes running a 3.09 though not 3.9. running a 3.9 youll see roughly 3000rpm at 110 or 2800rpm at 100
based of google results of getrag gearbox ratios
How old were you when you first drove?
Drove a car probably 14, driving little Chinese Twister go karts (80cc, 150cc, 250cc) from 9 to 18, then this car on the dirt in 2016, then on a the asphalt as a drift car in 2018 when I was 20
I saw this guy at McDOnalds in Sydenham. He was stealing fuel out of a parked car with his mates.
Lol 😂
What’s wrong with the hood pins? They look alright. Im considering getting something like that for mine, sick of the stock latch not working properly and jamming
Well they actually are ok haha just sucked setting them up at the time
The angles of the bonnet and rad support, plus the way it closes just means they can be fiddly, have had them come loose and not latch
you know you own a vs when the speedos buggerd
Awesome build man! how did you go removing the ABS? simply rip it out and flare some new lines up happy days? works a treat? cheers mate!!
Cheers mate!
Just unplugging it works well haha but to actually get rid of it I bent the lines from the module back over to the master.
For the rear brake line I had to cut the nut off and use a smaller one, then re flare it.
Works perfectly just the lines look a bit average haha take the module out from the drivers side kick panel and the abs light on the dash will go away too
@@CorzaBell badass cheers man! nah hate that massive thing and its not gonna help sideways so looking to totally get rid of it same as yourself..
Thanks heaps! will be sorting this in the next week or two! =D legend
@@CorzaBell hey man.. sorry to bother you haha noticed you removed all the body deadening inside.. was there much weight in it all? and what route did you take the ol dry ice or good ol fashioned scraper? H.N.Y BTW! lol
@@jamesr4236 nah all good mate
Hard to say about the weight I never weighed it, but would be at least 20kg I reckon, it adds up
I used a hammer and wood chisel, then hit it with the wire wheel on the grinder, and wiped/cleaned the rest off with brake cleaner, came up nice where I didn’t get too aggressive with the chisel
mang mang mang mang
Great car mate, VR/VS are my favorite commies
What top rear arms you use. I've been wanting rose joint end but can't find them
I made my own, Whiteline sell adjustable upper rear arms I'm pretty sure
What rims my guy
Mentioned in the video man, they're D-Speed DS03
Howd you go with the showtime fab knuckles any dramas with them?
Zac Giles they're good mate, heaps of lock
Where did u put battery
Dw u showed it after I cometted 😂
Wanted a bit more time with the lca and how you extended and shortened the setup! Pity Showtime don't make the welded knuckles anymore!
Hey mate what did you do to put in vy pedals thanks
Travis Mcdonald the brake and clutch are just the pedal covers, so I cut the pedals down to size so they fitted on
The throttle I just swapped the pedal over by knocking out a little roll pin on the back, all the brackets are still VS stuff
Why do I feel like that commodore has been through shit
what size are your rear tyres for drifting
O N I run 215/45/18, brand new
You still have this?
Yeah mate sure do
What rims are those
Watch the vid mate, DSpeed DS03
Weapon
what diff ratio u run mate?
Standard 3.08
Keen to delete abs on my vs for track use.. simple job is it?
Yeah easy enough man,
Just unplugging it works well haha but to actually get rid of it I bent the original lines from the module back over to the master.
For the rear brake line I had to cut the nut off and use a smaller one, then re flare it.
Works perfectly just the lines look a bit average haha take the module out from the drivers side kick panel and the abs light on the dash will go away too
@@CorzaBell thats awesome thankyou! Did it matter what position on the master the lines went or are the outlet positions all the same as such?
@@matthewbentley2308 the two rear fittings closet to firewall (one on top of another) are the fronts
The front port on it’s own is the rear
@@CorzaBell awesome thank you!!!
@@matthewbentley2308 no worries mate just message me if ya get stuck!
Mang 💯🇦🇺🤪
Sick video. Camera man needs help following the car properly tho
Yeah don't have a proper camera person haha just some clips the ol man filmed when he came along so can't complain cause there'd be none otherwise haha
@@CorzaBell yeah good on him, just got my r31 probably get my oldmto record some skids too HAHA
Sounds beefy at idle
Doesn't even need a slip on spacer on the front as the rims clearly clear the callipers 🤦♂️
It's for clearance at full lock, rim rubs on tie rod without the spacer...
Makes me sad seeing her bashed up a bit Hahahah
Jackson Higgins why hahah just an old POS Commodore, they're nothing special😂
Love my Holdens
But it’s a six 👎🏿
Lol, nothing wrong with a six mate, don't need a V8 to drift
Less weight over the front end anyways with the smaller engine
Corey Bell well you certainly proved a six can do the job can’t argue that . Good drifting skills
@@cancan8467 Cheers mate
fords are greater than Holden because Ford came before chev and Holden
That's nice, I like both
yea I don't mind both
Actually Holden is about 164 yo. Ford is about 116, GM 111 yo Chev 108 yo.
but Ford came out before chev did
