Aki never felt really edgy to me. I feel like he's just super depressed and just trying to hold it together most of the time especially when Himeno said that he cries in secret every time a rookie dies. His life is just one long depressive episode since the gun devil incident. I guess it's because he doesn't have the abrasiveness in his personality like most anime edgy characters have. The show also really fleshes out his character by showing a lot of his vulnerabilities so far making him feel real and relatable.
That's because "edgy" is one of those words anime fans overuse so much it's lost all meaning "oh a character is slightly introverted that means he's edgy", that's basically they're logic

One quick thing about Aki, when the younger sister enters the room, her face is concealed (same as the manga). From my understanding, this is meant to imply that she looks a lot like Himeno, meaning when Aki saw her, he probably was in shock at seeing Himeno again, but then felt grief again once realizing it was her sister instead.
I don't know if it's just because we didn't have that much time with himeno or what but for some reason I was more like Denji. Usually I get really emotional but with her I was just like "huh,one down I guess." But to be fair..what did we really know about her? She drinks,smokes,gave Aki really bad habits from a young age, fucks with everyone and likes Aki. And is sorta jealous of Makima.That's pretty much about it ._.

In the flashback she said to Kishibe that he was drinking too much and thats no good so its implied she was not a heavy drinker from the start. She called her ex partners useless yet she still comes to their graves to mourn everymonth. She was a depressed and normal woman in those flashbacks, a total diffirent person from who she appears to be now . Her carefree attitude, alcohol and nicotine addiction are all parts of her coping mechanism. We get to know much more about her in this ep, she expressed that she feels like dying everyday, wanted to quit with her loved one but stayed anyways because he refused to and ended up paying for his obsession with Gun Devil. At the end, she seems to be normal woman who pretends to have screw loose because as Kishibe said, only the insane ones live long in this line of work. The saddest thing is her death only drown him deeper in his revenge shit.
I love how Denji calls Power "Powy" and that they're a lot closer now. Damn, I can't believe theirs only two weeks left of this masterpiece. 😔 Well high hopes for season 2!!! ❤

Yeah there are two types of contracts devils hunters can have with devils. The more common is the exchange for the devils power sporadically, when needed (like Sawatari’s contract with the snake devil) and the other is a one time exchange which requires much more sacrifice for permanent use of the devils power. This isn’t distinguished in the manga, however
7:35 I’m saying, most anime studios don’t even pre animate too meaning they have to create each episode every week which is insane. Even if that’s not the case though most anime is 24 fps, that’s 1440 frames a minute, even with changes to fps that’s over 20,000 frames a episode drawn and colored. Bro one episode would take years for a solo youtube animator. I couldn’t imagine drawing over 10,000 drawings, little own hundreds of thousands.
I think the stuff the user gives up depends on the contract like Himeno had to give up her eye but every other time she used it she didn't give up anything until her death. I think the same works for the fox devil, you give up something for the first time then other times you're safe to use it without getting messed up. If I remember the snake devil contract is the only thing that had someone give up something multiple types maybe because a fingernail isn't much compared to an eyeball

Kishibe's Introduction and the fight was so amazing!! I love the deeper topics in this series. Denji really has no one who would cry for him right now. As long as he can eat and live he is pretty happy. Aki crying hit so hard... it didn't even hit him instantly, he lit up the cigarette, and then everything just came flooding in.. These characters go through so much suffering and this is only the beginning of the series T_T
I need say first it is just my speculation. Himeno, 姫野 (they always use Kanji or Katakana for someone's name), ひめの (they usually use Hiragana in life) all pronounce in same way. ひ means Fire, め means Eye and の means Of, if you write her name in Hiragana, it is like someone of fire and eye. Guess who gave devil her one eye and usually brought a lighter. Yes, Himeno. I actually don't know if that was true. If it is true, then Fujimoto is amazing. Sorry for my poor English.

I just realised that when we first see Kishibe (Sensei) he was probably standing at Himeno’s grave and that’s why he silenced Makima because he most likely knew she had something to do with her death and her speaking there would be an insult…also when you consider that, you can suggest the first time he broke Denji and powers necks was his on weird way of getting easy revenge on them for not caring
I knew how strong this dude was gonna be when he raised his finger and told Makima to "shut it". He said he was the strongest devil hunter and meant it.

Yeah there are two types of contracts devils hunters can have with devils. The more common is the exchange for the devils power sporadically, when needed (like Sawatari’s contract with the snake devil) and the other is a one time exchange which requires much more sacrifice for permanent use of the devils power. This isn’t distinguished in the manga, however

Even if that’s not the case though most anime is 24 fps, that’s 1440 frames a minute, even with changes to fps that’s over 20,000 frames a episode drawn and colored. Bro one episode would take years for a solo youtube animator. I couldn’t imagine drawing over 10,000 drawings, little own hundreds of thousands.

I think the stuff the user gives up depends on the contract like Himeno had to give up her eye but every other time she used it she didn't give up anything until her death. I think the same works for the fox devil, you give up something for the first time then other times you're safe to use it without getting messed up. If I remember the snake devil contract is the only thing that had someone give up something multiple types maybe because a fingernail isn't much compared to an eyeball
