Look at the Piper Aztec on 00:01 doing the alignment turn low, starting the flare, and also cutting the flaps to cut the lift and the floating...Its a great trick to learn..I learned it in Puerto Rico from one of their CFI's in 1992.. I used it at many Tri-state airports..They didn't know it and were thrilled by this Trick..We call it "A 5 FEET FLAP CUT".. Thousands of accidents and wrecked planes could have been avoided if this Flap Cut Trick is required for Private Pilot licenses... Puerto Rican Pilots are very talented I can see...

This is wonderful. Our flight into Culebra was incredible. If you see what's going on in the landing videos, it's the quick drop across the mountain pass that terrifies you, then the realization that a very quick turn is required to hit the runway. The pilots all take it in stride, but as a first time visitor this was, by far, a thrilling ride. Thank you so much for sharing this - a great memory for me.
Must have flown in and out of SJU/STT many times, but always said one day I'd get to Culebra and/or Vieques. Never made it, and now I'm too old to go! N909GD shown arriving and shutting down engines around 2:00 crashed off the coast of Culebra in 2013, pilot died. Looks like he was messing around doing steep turns at night, and may have spatial D into the water. Wreckage was found (shallow water) but they didn't bother to recover it.

Lovely video, beautiful scenery on approach.I have overflown Culebra many times on trips SJU to STT, but never had a chance to visit the Island.

The best part is when you land and exit on the first taxiway! That is accuracy landing!!! But with hot brakes when the airplane gets parked!!!! lol
To ride next to a (male) pilot you need to be a rather good looking female and verbalize your willingness to be a "copilot" for the flight(har, har)
