  • Welcome to another vlog- this time I am taking you along with me to the beautiful island of Culebra, a smaller island off the eastern coast of Puerto Rico. In this video you’ll see what many claim is Puerto Rico’s most beautiful beach, ranked among the best beaches in the world! Plus, our tips and tricks to make the most of your time and our favorite restaurants because what’s a great trip without equally amazing food!
    First, make sure to reserve your ferry ticket early here on this website- it’s only about $2 one way per person but sells out fast. Plus make sure you have a way to get there, especially if you’re coming from San Juan as it’s about an hour and 15 minutes away (without tolls) or a few minutes faster with tolls.
    Ferry Tickets: www.puertoricoferry.com/
    I would recommend renting a golf cart- they’re super fun and easy to use and make going where you want super easy. Lots of people rent Jeeps but the island is very small so you can save some money and get a UTV- we had a great experience with Carlos Jeep Rental and it was super close to our Airbnb.
    www.carlosjeeprental.com/
    There are lots of airbnbs on the island and little boutique villas. I really loved the location of our Airbnb and it had everything we needed plus a cute rooftop and a walk to one of the only breakfast spots on the island (which turned out delicious)
    Our Airbnb- www.airbnb.com/rooms/66072234...
    Now on to the fun stuff- you definitely need to check out Flamenco beach if you’re visiting! The water is so clear and turquoise (nothing is edited in this video!) and the sand is soooo soft and white. However, since it’s very famous, it is very crowded. If you want another beautiful beach with very few people, check out Zoni beach on the other side of the island. You have to ride through some hills to arrive and when you are going down the hill to get to the beach overlooking the water, it is truly breathtaking. There is coral in the water here so be careful and respect the natural beauty of this island.
    For food, if you get hungry or thirsty while at Flamenco beach there are some little kiosks which were super refreshing since it was very hot when we went. The empanadas were great! If you love dinner on the water, you have to check out Dinghy Dock or La Cocina del Navigante. We went to Dinghy Dock first but weren’t impressed with the menu- but it is right on the water and I would recommend stopping for a drink. Then we walked over to Cocina del Navigante and ate there- this also overlooks the water but is on a raised patio instead of being level with the water like Dinghy Dock. The fish was incredible here! Now on to breakfast, there are a few options, however a few aren’t open on weekends so that didn’t help us. Blac Flamingo Coffee is one of the very popular options and we enjoyed our food, although there weren’t too many options, but would definitely recommend and has a cute set up.
    Overall, I have a similar conclusion about Culebra as I did about Vieques. They are both beautiful beautiful islands, but I also think the same about all of Puerto Rico. There are very limited options of restaurants and I think a lot of beaches on the mainland are equally stunning. If you have a long time in PR or love here, definitely make the trip out. Plus if you have a larger budget there are lots of fun water sports, boat excursions to do!
    I hope some of this can help you if you ever get the chance to visit Culebra or Puerto Rico in general. Have a great time, and let me know where you think I should go next!

    Becca, you mentioned how you got seasick on the choppy Ferry ride. I've been a few times. It appears as if you were on the smaller boat. Take the larger passenger/cargo next time, and I don't think you'll have any issues with motion sickness.... This place is amazing! I think about it everyday. Going back as soon as I can.

      Thank you so much for this advice. I was recently in Italy and took a ferry from Naples to Procida and your advice worked! The ride was a lot smoother in a bigger ferry!

    The real beauty from Culebra and Vieques is that both are still in its natural environment without close civilization. I think if you are looking for a lot of obtions for places to eat and mod cons is better stay in the main island. Because If several restaurants and hotels are built in Culebra and Vieques, they would lose their charm.

    Thanks for the Vieques and Culebra videos. We are coming next month for a week and after seeing your videos, we will stay in Puerto Rico. We will travel to different places around the island instead.

      The island has SO many beautiful places to see- you have the rainforest plus lots of beautiful waterfalls outside the rainforest too, lots of beautiful beaches, so many cute towns, and many many delicious restaurant options. You could always do Culebra or Vieques for a day trip or overnight if you want but there are lots of places to explore within the mainland. Have an amazing time!

    Hello, very informative video. Do you know if you can bring your own car in the ferry?

    • @beccakfitness
      @beccakfitness  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Rahul, thanks so much! So there is a cargo ferry, however, as of right now only residents of Culebra and Vieques can transport their cars to and from the island. However, there are several car rentals (lots of Jeeps because of the terrain) or the golf carts work great!

    how far is the rental place from the ferry terminal? how far is flamenco from the terminal? and how much did you pay for your golf cart rental? going in a month and can't wait to go to culebra for the first time!

    • @beccakfitness
      @beccakfitness  3 месяца назад

      Hi Guliana! The rental place is less than a mile but they have a van that will pick up the driver and bring them to the rental place to pick up the golf cart and then when you leave and drop it off, they will also take everyone in the van back to the terminal so it's super convenient! We paid around $80 for the 24 hours. Flamenco Beach is also only a few miles away, about 10 minutes by car and maybe 15ish in a golf cart. The water is SO BLUE AND CLEAR! I'm very excited for you to go and hope you have the best time!

      @@beccakfitness Skip the ferry and do the plane out of Cieba. like $45 a person but so worth it. The Ferry isnt bad but you save 4 hours of your life for $90 a person round trip. Also the views from the plane are so awesome.

      @Scotts_Pets I've been to Culebra twice. I did not know you could fly out of Ceiba to Culebra. I guess I can look it up, but do you know if there are also flights between Culebra and Vieques? Last I looked, the ferry does not go between Culebra and Viejas. I wish it would.
