Mike Ehrmantraut: "Here's What's Gonna Happen" (A Complete Compilation)

- Due to popular demand... Here's a compilation of Mike saying "Here's what's going to happen" (or a variation of the sentence). A short, and afterwards longer version. I hope I didn't miss anything, otherwise, notice me! When the video is under 100.000 views, I can still edit it, to put some extra parts in there, while the video also remains up on here.
Sorry it's not all in the correct order, I just wanted the four sentences that are pretty much the same to line up.
I'm really shocked Mike's "No"-video got so much views in such a short notice. It does feel kind of rewarding to know that people appreciate what comes out of my manic episodes, lol. I do want to mention that this channel probably won't have a "schedule," and I'll probably post once in a while when I have some time, and something sounds fun to do. I made this one, along with a Kim Wexler "Okay" video that will be up in a week. They're not as funny as the "No"-video (personally), but it was worth the experiment. But if I can make one person laugh, that's already good enough for me!
00:00 - 00:18 Short version
00:18 - 00:41 Five-O (BCS S01E06)
00:41 - 01:16 Bad Choice Road (BCS S05E09)
01:16 - 02:03 Carrot and Stick (BCS S06E02)
02:03 - 03:51 Point and Shoot (BCS S06E08)
03:51 - 04:14 Hit and Run (BCS S06E04)
04:14 - 05:35 ABQ (BB S02E13)
(Btw, what does sound fun to make, is a compilation of every time Walter White knocked. Someone suggested it and it just sounds so funny, as "he's the one who knocks," of course.)
Its funny how much of Mike's dialogue is just him calmly giving detailed instructions to people.
Mike calmly giving detailed instructions to people is ASMR for me
@@ninhil2 Ha. It would be epic if he recorded some ASMR.
In real life some people need someone to state the obvious to them. That's why the character of Mike Ehrmantraut is perfect.
@@bobbybecker6435 In real life if you aren't built like that it doesn't matter. In time of danger you will resort to your base instinct.

Let’s face it: We all wish we had a Mike in our darkest hour.
Of course, he had all clear in his mind.
i'd rather not because if mike was there that'd mean my darkest hour probably involved someone dying in front of me
@@ChaosLord5129 Uh yeah we do fucking marvel nerd

Mike is the best character in BB/BCS. He’s grounded but also emotional, he’s stead fast but also stubborn, he’s an order taker but also speaks his mind. Jonathan Banks deserved every award he won and then some.
I wouldn’t say mike is better than jimmy, Kim, or chuck but he is next in line. I feel what makes mike such a great character is how much of a complete delusional hypocrite he is.
He gets all the money he needs to support his family and his offers to launder it for him free of charge but mike chooses to work for gus because he can’t go back to a normal life as he doesn’t view himself as worthy of it and when he tries his trauma creeps up. In bagman he then tells the same lie Walt does that he is doing it for his family but mike is doing it all for himself. Nacho’s dad knocks him off his high horse by telling him he is no better than the other criminal scum and he is unable to say anything back because deep down he likely knows it is true. It’s also somewhat heartbreaking to see his morals decline form Barry being able to take a life in bcs to being okay with gus murdering children in breaking bad
I love how Jonathan Bank can portrait a old experience fighter so well
@@kujojotarostandoceanman2641 and also a kind old man, like when he conned tuco haha
And he's a helluva handyman.
I didn’t get enough out of him in BB but BCS made me fall in love with the character

@@cosmicspacebub5978 I think he mistook Walter for Daniel Pryce since he always claimed Heisenberg was small potatoes and low tier criminal and stuff.
I'm so God damn lost. I follow the bcs sub and the okbuddychicanery sub, and I still have no idea why people keep calling Mike finger. Can someone please explain????
I want Mike to come up to me, say "Here's what's gonna happen" and then lay it all out to me on how to turn my life around
because that's what's stopping you right now, is the lack of Mike from Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad to jumpstart your life.

I need Mike in my life. God, I really do.
Here's what's going to happen, Mike's never gonna speak to you in real life, you must overcome your hurdles through within.

Here’s what’s gonna happen. You’re going to be watching your favorite shows-Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad. You’re going to go RUclips and find every scene where Mike says “here’s what’s gonna happen” and make a compliation of it. Once you’re ready, you are going to post that video for me and everyone to enjoy. You may have other plans and responsibilities but that doesn’t matter. You will post this video. Do you understand?
It’s very important you understand. I’m going to like your comment. Then we’re both going to walk away like nothing ever happened. Because nothing did.

That's was exactly what happened to me lol
0:41 this quote literally helps me process traumatic experiences/grief, I went to therapy and this monologue literally helped me more than any of that
Saul tried to replicate it to Kim after Howard's death, but didn't have Banks' delivery.
I had a really bad breaak up and i honestly felt like the pain was too much losing this person who i thought would always be there. Laughing and spending time with them watching the movies you guys loved. It felt like there was a hole in my chest and it was always so heavy. I started rewatching bcs for season 6 and that quote made me feel a bit hopeful. Now Im making hella money and doing what i want being happy. Sorry for the word vomit but I'm glad youre doing better Noah
@@AngelLopez-xh6sz get at it my boy 💯🔥
It's realistic
Literally
It’s actually super clever and shows Mike’s constant competency that this is the phrase he uses. Phrasing a request to do something, not as a request, or an order, but just an eventuality that will happen makes people a lot more likely to do it. Especially in traumatic situations when people are in shock.
Agreed. "Here's what I want you to do" implies that the other party can decline. "Here's what's going to happen" leaves no ambiguity.
coments like this make me love youtube
@@Durwood71 Also potentially an adversarial reaction to being bossed around. This makes it neutral, and calming.
Maybe it comes from being a cop. When you're making an arrest you're not asking them to get in your car, you're telling them they're going to get in your car.
@@wyskass861I think this is the better way of looking at it. It's not orders, it's Mike laying out the best case scenario (as he sees it), and the steps the other party needs to take to make it happen.
"I was not here"
*Slaps Jesse back to reality*
ope, there goes gravity
I appreciate the slap at the end
@@pcortes1987 I don't! Poor Jesse! 😭
@@keithmichael112Ope there goes rabbit
"here's what's gonna happen" is such a military phrase, it makes sense that he uses it due to his service in the USMC.
Mike is the worst guy to talk to about a series you're currently watching. Always spoils the ending.
classic finger
Here's what's gonna happen. We're gonna have a dramatic second act where the main characters fall out. Get into an argument, maybe even a little fistfight. Then we'll go into the third act, things are gonna get heavy. You might start wondering how the crew is gonna get out of this situation. Then everyone is gonna realize they need eachother and stick it out like nothing ever happened in the first place. Because it didn't.
Now here's what's going to happen. You're going to get some bad news and then you're going to think about your family. You're going to get desperate. You're going to make a plan to provide for them once you're gone. The thrill of it, and the power you feel, it's going to start going to your head. Those around you are going to think you're spiraling downward, but you're going to think you're ascending to the peak of an empire. Alot of people are going to die, alot of relationship are going to end, but you don't need to worry about any of that. You just need to focus on two things. Staying alive, and cooking meth.
@@Jermbot15 I read that in his same tone and cadence.
When Mike says, ‘here’s what’s gonna happen…’ you can breathe a sigh of relief
Or brace yourself for a slap round the head...
Things went somehow much much worse because (spoiler)
nobody was around to say what was gonna happen anymore.
@@GZilla311 why bother with the spoiler warning
Everyone should be allowed to call Mike once to get them out of a jam- he takes a look at the situation and reassures you with "alright, here's what going to happen"
They should make a show about people on hard times and Johnathan Banks shows up in his Mike Ehrmantrout persona with some people who can belp and he says "Alright, Here's whats gonna happen."
Better call finger
Maybe the vacuum cleaner guy, would be good to have in your rolodex as well.
So glad Bob odenkirk was unavailable for the scene after Jane's death I still can't imagine him showing up in a suit cleaning, possibly making jokes while Jesse's love had just died
One example of Vince is only as good as his team
@@AJ0223 BRAVO VINCE
Odenkirk would have had no problem with a scene like this. He would have known exactly how to play it.
This isn't even true. Saul is a pretty flexible guy that adapts to the situation. In his first appearance, he reassured Badger when he looked worried. Yeah he tries to lighten the situation or diffuse the situation sometimes but it doesn't mean he doesn't have feelings or isn't understanding
You can thank “How I Met Your Mother” for that one!
There’s a difference in how Mike actually says it depending on the audience, that’s interesting. He’s more casual but direct with people in the game. With people out of the game, like Nacho’s girls, he’s more polite but concise
he gets that some people will not get what he is saying
"but we like it here.'' "well you are gonna have to like it someplace else." "take this and go to your families. Don't have family then go to a friend. Don't have friends. well then make some."
Pure Gold
This comes across as the kind of recurrence that in a weaker program could be bungled easily, but in BCS it always makes for interesting scenes through the strength of the writing, and Jonathan Banks' strong characterization and portrayal of Mike
Its not overdone in the slightest, Mike has over 15 hours of scenes across the 2 shows, as you said a weaker show would have it every episode lol
ravo bince
Even if he used it more often it wouldn't be bad. If multiple characters used it regularly then it would smack of bad writing.
Mike always talks like he’s lived 100+ lifetimes all with different experiences and he’s just recalling memories when he explains how events are going to play out.
Now here's what's gonna happen. One day, you're gonna be browsing RUclips, checking your subscriptions, going about your business. Then you're gonna see this video about your favourite show. Now, you've seen all these clips before, but that doesn't matter, you're gonna watch it anyway. You're gonna watch it, and you're gonna enjoy it. That's all you need to know.
Waltuh, here's what's gonna happen, Waltuh. You're gonna put you d away, Waltuh.
The look of guilt in Jimmy and Kim's faces when Mike mentioned how Howard's story might help them is hopelessly tragic. It's fragments like these that have made Better Call Saul a landmark show.
Oh, and thank you "How I met your mother" producers. Thanks to you we got Jonathan Banks as Mike :P
That ending really slaps
More than Will Smith XD
Wish it was me instead of Jesse
“Here’s what’s gonna happen” is such a commanding thing to say. You’re not asking someone to do something, you’re TELLING them to do it.
Seeing this makes me want to watch BCS/BB whole again in chronological order just to see how much Mike gets colder and more brutal the more he has to do this schtick.
This is the moment when Mike "Here's what gonna happen" Ehrmantraut became Shane "Let me ask you something" Walsh.
After Gus told Tyrus to bring Nacho's father and Mike instantly objects; Tyrus pulled out his gun and Mike said:
'You don't understand. That's not happening.'
Tyrus pointed the gun towards him. Mike looked Tyrus right in the eye and said one of my most favorite lines from season 6:
'Whatever happens next; its not gonna go down the way you think it is.'
He was the biggest badass of the entire two series. That voice.
I feel like we all need a Mike Erhmantraut in our lives at some point
I certainly dont. 😬
Unless your last name happens to be Ehrmantraut... if Mike makes an appearance, then that is a sure fire sign that you have driven through few towns down Bad Choice Road.
I suppose if your name is Heisenberg, Then he is a great guy to have around. If you bother listening to him. 🤔
That words Jimmy said to Kim after Howard death ( "One day you'll wake up" quote 0:42 ) is coming from Mike 😅
What a great character development 🖤
and mikes monologue came from the church group dealing with loss!
although i always got the sense that none of the characters meant or believed it fully every time it was said. kind of a platitude to help it stop haunting them, but it never fully will.
@@MrDoomDawg Mike definitely never believes it himself. He thinks about Matty every day.
fucking spoilers! seriously. I was so close to being spoiler free. ugh dude
@@MrDoomDawg in that episode where Jimmy says it the whole point is that Kim, Mike and Gus can't move on but Jimmy does. Kim breaks up w/ him over Howard, Gus can't let go of Max and turns down wine guy, and Mike tries to give closure to Nacho's dad. The only one who's able to move on and have a normal day without thinking about it is Jimmy as Saul in the final scene where we see a day in his new life. I think the point is to show that it's not sound advice. If you try to completely forget your past and become a new person like Saul to cope it will only work as an escape for you for so long.
@@colinater237 dude what? The video you're watching is literally already spoiling that. How is that this guy's fault? Go cry somewhere else.
the extra slap you added at the end is like something you'd see in a youtube poop lmao
“Well here’s what gonna happen. One day, one day you’re gonna wake up, eat your breakfast, brush your teeth, go about your business..and sooner or later, you’re gonna realize, you haven’t thought about it, none of it. That’s the moment, you realize you can forget. When you know that’s possible, it all gets easier”
HOLY SHIT I needed to hear this today. Thank you Mike.
Edit: came back here because yet again I needed to hear this. Funny thing is, I realized after searching this up now that the fact that I’m applying what he said now to something other than what made me make my original comment proves what Mike said is absolutely true. As I’m typing this out, I’m finally hopeful once again like I was a year and a half ago.
The thing about that speech is that it's such good advice, but Jimmy takes it in absolutely the wrong way. It's a speech about trauma and how we can move past it, but Jimmy takes it to mean he can stop feeling guilt about the things he's done to put him on the darker path.
So, i guess Mike has a catchphrase of his own too.
The catchphrase of a man who knows everyone's future except his own.
OOF.
Part of what makes that scene such awful writing...
1:38 All I have to say to those around me is "Well..." just like that to instigate a conversation about how much we all love Mike. Best TV character ever. Period.

"Here's What's Gonna Happen" - Mike.
He is the military/police veteran with no nonsense and with years of experience on his belt. Love this character.
I can't quite decide whether they've found the best actor for each character they wrote, or if they wrote the most suitable character for each actor they casted. Either way, here's what's gonna happen: we'll have to sit here and wait for a long while, before we see anything nearly as good.
I'm not surprised that Jonathan Banks gets teary-eyed talking about Mike. It's the gig of his lifetime, and there will never (IMO) be another character that comes close to Mike. A hitman with a heart. A grandfather known as "pop-pop" (and probably also by Gus, but for other reasons, heh), but will end your life just like that, and it'll be another chain around his neck that he has to wear for life. Perfection manifest.
Nice compilation. Makes me want to watch the whole damn show over again.
I’d seriously watch a show simply called Mike Doing Stuff. Even if an entire episode is him watching old movies and eating peanuts, I’m IN!
Ohh the good old voice of reason!

In BCS I was actually more invested in Mike's side of the story than Saul's. I would gladly have watched a whole series on this character
Me too, actually. Though I like this slight mystique around Mike too. Saul being the main character made more sense in the end, imo! ☺️
I wonder if they could pull off a second spinoff series about young Mike becoming a corrupt cop? They would have to hire a different actor to play the lead, of course.
@@Durwood71
I don't see how it could work without Jonathan... He's too iconic
@@macabrecitrus2127 Well, yeah, but there's no way he could play a young Mike. He was almost too old to play a slightly younger version of his _Breaking Bad_ character in _Better Call Saul._
Of course, there are, to my knowledge, no plans for a young Mike Erhmantrout spin off, so this is all just idle speculation anyway.

Mike truly is one of the best characters ever created. The way he’d always greet everyone with a smile and a hug. How when Jimmy was feeling down he took him to DisneyWorld to help cheer him up. And how before Walt killed him he hooked up with Skyler just to stick it to Mr Methface. Vince Gilligan truly is a master of character development.
I don't think Mike took Jimmy to Disney World.

Mike is good at calming the situation down. He could have been a good therapist. He even says "Yeah?" a lot too. Fitting! XD.

Thank you for the extra slap at the end
Cool how Mike came to your house and said "Here's whats gonna happen..." and gave you this footage and told you to post it here.
Somebody said Winston Wolfe? LOL. I love this kind of characters in movies or tv shows. Mike is a more elaborate version of Tarantino´s Winston Wolfe without the charm, but thats what makes Mike a more "real" and relatable character. Without a doubt one of, if not, the best characters in the BB universe. Thanks for the compilation!
That slap was improvised
Finally someone made this
That scene with Jesse is really weird and out of character after all the development Mike has gotten, which makes sense since he was only made for this scene. Mike after better characterization probably would have been more understanding and sympathetic to Jesse
In his eyes, he was talking to a junkie and had to make sure he was fully listening. No more half measures.
This is weak justification though, Mike isn't really the bitch slap type
To mike he was trying to get through to a degenerate druggie whose degenerate druggie girlfriend just OD'd next to him. It makes absolute sense for him to slap him about a bit to make sure he gets through.
After knowing more about Mike that smack doesn't seem to come out of anger or frustration, just a practical way to make Jesse think straight for a moment, like slapping someone to wake them up because they need it
It's not his job to be sympathetic. It's his job to make sure that that kid doesn't go to prison.
Last time he got emotionally attached to a young guy in over his head, it ended with him having to watch through a rifle scope as said guy blew his own brains out.
Don't know about you, but I forgive him for running a little low on fucks to give- especially for heroin abusers he's just met.
Here's what's going to happen. Vince Gilligan is going to make a show called Mike Doing Stuff, and it'll be great.
There needs to also be a compilation of Mike talking about "my guys"
Does anybody ever noticed that Better Call Saul has much more "white noise" or "background noise" than Breaking Bad?
I did notice while watching the series at the same time but this video remarks it a lot, well in this video the BB part has a lower quality but you can still notice.
Mike takes out the trash and Saul makes life fun.
A great combination.
I bet he also ordered Vince Gilligan to write that script.
AMAZING! ♥️♥️
Here’s what’s gonna happen…..what a revelation. Until it’s compiled and condensed into a video format, I don’t think I would’ve realized how many times he’s used that phrase😄
