I can see Jonathan Banks in the role of Mike as a running gag, showing up every time Walt is about to do something stupid to throw him in his car.
I’m loving that idea so much lol. That’s hilarious.
Walter’s about to go to Gus’s house to shoot him and instead of getting the “Go home, Walter,” phone call, Mike pulls up and throws him in the car.
By season 5 he’s so used to it that when he sees Mike pull up, he just opens the back door and gets in on his own.

Yeah! He always laughs like crazy in the DVD extra Blooper Reels! He can barely make it through a scene with Bryan Cranston. And when Michael Richards made a cameo in the last season... they just laughed and laughed and laughed!

The entire Saul scene was so unbelievably perfect, it’s so underrated, it sounds like an completely legit moment from a sitcom.
The only unrealistic part is the lack of heavy applause when Saul is revealed.
That line is interesting after Better Call Saul though isn't it

His first wife cheated on him with some guy and that's the guy whose sunroof he defecated through.

I love how Gus has enough "normal" scenes to make him look like a nice guy
The opening credits makes him look like the friendly neighbor everyone goes to for emotional support or advice

The more tense the actual scene was, the funnier it is with the laugh tracks and clapping and cheering.

The thing is, this scene actually did make me laugh when I saw it originally. "I'm talking with Ted" is one of the funniest quotes of the show.

Some of Sauls genuinely feel plucked out of a sitcom
The "Yknow you act like you're the first guy this has ever happened to. I caught my second wife sleeping with my step-dad! It's a cruel world, Walt! Grow up!" quote is absolutely one of the most underrated Saul Goodman quotes

Also, in Better Call Saul, they keep up the continuity with that one single line by referencing that Jimmy has previously been divorced (at the scene when he and Kim are getting married). It's crazy their attention to detail.
Or maybe Jimmy/Saul just has always had a secret backstory only known by the writers between childhood and the events of BCS, who knows
Now I can't wait for the spin-off "Better Call Saul the Sitcom" it is sure to be so electrifying that Chuck's chest would explode.

Wow this episode is so perfect as a sitcom.
_Breaking Bad_ has been described as a dark comedy. It's amazing how easily it can be turned into just a comedy.
The power of editing
They mostly said that about the first season, & season one did feel goofy.
But hell, The Godfather has scenes with comedic elements, “You can act like a man!” & “he was banging cocktail waitresses, two at a time.” but we sure as hell wouldn’t consider that as a dark comedy.
Reality feels like a dark comedy
Breaking Bad was pretty cartoonish midway through. Walter was just so over the top all the time.
How is that amazing? The jokes are already there. Comedy is comedy.
The clips for the opening credits are great, especially Jesse dancing in the lab and Gus opening the door, perfect timing with the cheesy sitcom theme music 😂

I think it also shows how tragedy and comedy are actually often pretty similar. That's also why most of the actors on Breaking Bad are originally from comedy

I like to believe this is just a universe where Bryan Cranston is permanently followed around by a live studio audience, and no matter what he does he can never escape the true horror of starring in a sitcom.

Funny how re-framing the show as a "comedy" highlights how actually very tense and uncomfortable these scenes are. But in the original context they're SO funny 😭

The first three seasons of Breaking Bad are basically a dark comedy. Ironically, it reminded me a lot of the old Grand Theft Auto games and their absurdity.

Saul Goodman himself already feels like a character that was ripped right out of a 90s sitcom and thrown into the original show
Skylar getting cheers when she shows up but nothing for Saul is even more unreal than Breaking Bad with a laugh track.

Vince Gilligan actually said that he saw the show as a dark comedy, and that a lot of people didn't get that.
The original concept for _Better Call Saul_ was a half hour sitcom series, but the creators changed it to a drama during development.

I think part of why this works is many of the actors have a background in comedy and they do it so well. Most notably Bryan Cranston and Bob Odenkirk who both are terrific at drama and comedy.

Just watched all of them; this is definitely the best of the bunch! Probably because it was funny even in the original series; the laugh track just feels natural. That's what I love about Breaking Bad. It's a very dynamic show. It had moments that made your jaw drop, to be sure, but it also has a healthy bit of comedy mixed in with the drama as well.

EdMcStinko That's the whole point ----- Shitty awful music + awful fake laughter = Network Television. It's the very first thing I noticed when I first saw these spoofs ---- The ABC symbol. We're in the Golden Age of Television because dumb ass Network Television executives (like the ones at ABC) are no longer the Gate Keepers to what we see on TV. That's because of HBO with The Sopranos and The Wire. Everything else that's happened afterwards is due to those 2 shows. FX, Showtime, AMC, Netflix saw what was possible, and the result is the best TV ever. A dumbass Network Executive would see the pilot for a Breaking Bad or Mad Men and say, "Where's the laugh track so that the audience knows it's funny? Where's the transitional music to cue the audience that one scene is over and another has begun?"

I just started watching Breaking Bad a few weeks ago and i gotta say this show has some genuinely funny moments. I never expected to laugh when watching this show. But with the laugh tracks added its even funnier
