Why this album is not on everyone’s list for top metalcore albums of all time blows my mind. THIS is metalcore at its finest. One of the VERY few albums I give 10/10.
Absolutely! Everybody says it’s Constellations and there is a point to that. But Messengers paved the way for Constellations and the genre itself - that’s why it’s “better.” 10/10 album for sure!

Composure could be argued as one of the best metalcore songs of the 2000s, if not ever. What an incredible piece of music that always gets me hyped and is timeless. ABR have been bringing the hammer down since 2005. Still making awesome metalcore to this day.
There are more technical guys that people would say are better…. BUT Matt Greiner crushes them all in terms of “composing” drum parts. He outshines them all if you ask me. Incredibly creative and a very solid drummer.
@@Thomohawk21 Most of his stuff is fairly simple if you break it down and practice it enough. Where he shines is his compositional skills which are incredible.
I photographed these dudes waaaaay back when at a show they played in Kelowna BC with Eveegreen Terrace, Misery Signals (I think) and As I Lay Dying. These guys blew everyone else off the stage, they were the nicest dudes and hands down the pics from their set were some of my favorite I've ever taken in my career. This album is easily in the top 3 greatest metalcore albums of all time.
Unless you were in one on of their pits back in 2006-2010, it's impossible to explain how hard these breakdowns went live with how much energy the band had. They must have had a pretty good sound guy because the kick drum, bass and rhythm were always cranked as much as they could without washing out the vocals or leads and it just hit like a truck every time.
it's pretty tough to pick a favorite from Messengers, whole album is incredible Back Burner is probably the heaviest, Up Against the Ropes has the most interesting riffs and song structure imo, and few songs can get me pumped like Truth of a Liar, what a perfect opening track!
White Washed and Invisible Enemy are my favorites. Invisible Enemy has some required reading though because the music video is a compilation of all their other videos, but with puppets.
I know it's kind of late to say, but Erra - Nigh to Silence, and Chris Turner - Butcha Boys are both great if you haven't checked them out :) Also, ABR is so classic. Vocally not my favorite, but musically they are iconic.
You HAVE to check out Meddler by these guys, even if you're not gonna make a video on it. It is SO. FUCKING. EPIC. White Washed is another good one, also.
