Great sailing footage, loved the music! The capsize resulted in a lot more damage than I would have expected. Most open dinghy's can capsize and recover, although equipment may be lost. Why was there so much damage to the boat, were you caught in a current and hit the bridge or some other obstruction? I sail on a river where to get out to open water I have to call and request a bridge opening, and have experienced the same delayed response, adverse wind, etc. I would like to learn from what happened here.
Good save using the oar as a tiller. I just found a sizable piece of my tiller rotten after setting up for 10 years but I bet it started to happen when I living aboard for 5 years prior.
Looks like a great adventure! I'd love to join the 2020 challenge, but my son and I are going to the BSA's Florida Sea Base the following week. Might be a bit much to go directly from that challenge to a week on a tall ship!
James Gibling you just pay the fee, have all the stuff in the mandatory packing list, and a non motor boat/canoe/kayak/paddle board/floating log. Whatever floats your boat.
Talking @night with headlamp on forehead ... You'd have scared an alien to death if he'd hovered over your boat ....Rofl ... Sweet boat by the way ....
I had a knot in my stomach when your rudder broke, can only imagine how you felt. Then later things got worse...much worse. You were sailing that boat like you stole it :-) Great adventure.
Its interesting I didn't get a knot into my stomach till after the rudder was fixed. I stayed calm, heave to and only when I had things under control, did I realize how crazy things had gotten. And sailing that fast under double reefed mizzen and main. Tells you a little about how fast the wind was blowing.
@@williamhighsmith8071 Very interesting comment about "I didn't have a knot into my stomach till after..." What you did and how you did it thereafter speaks of you having quite a bit of experience. You can be my captain, think I will get to the other side in one peace with you on board.
Muy buena la canción mientras remaba de noche!!! Excelente video!! Y excelentes aventuras!!

I like your boat. What model is it? Love the fact you can paddle when there is no wind.
I think it's a core sound 17
Got some stones. I grew up sailing Mobile Bay and we lost 5 souls in the DI race a few yrs back due to lack of safety. Is that rig unsinkable?
philosophy, adventure , sailing, great video
Friggin amazing!!!! I want to do this race. I used to be a beach lifeguard in HB CA, life time sailer. What do I need to do to qualify for this race?
