    Rebuilding my Dovekie to start sailing again in Nov 2019 and should be visiting the Keys again in May 2021.
    One thing I learned about cruising is to let the weather pick the destination. There is always something interesting no matter which way I go.

    Had many Potter 15 adventures along the Texas coast and bays. A very capable boat that can be comfy too. Does require constant hands on sailing though, never could get Gustavo to self steer. However, I didn't dedicate substantial effort or gear to that enterprise. Great little boats.

    I love that small boat sailing. I purchased a 1972 Aquarius 20, also called a Balboa 20 with a retractable keel. Great for skinny water. I am almost done with the refit ($6,000 later, and yes I saved all the receipts) and will be launching a video soon on it's rebuild. I would love to get some ideas from you about small boat cruising in Florida. I hope to be there in a year cruising the Keys and Bahamas. Then the great loop. Thanks for your great videos. Jean

    I'm a Potter 15 owner as of a few days ago. Not yet put it in the water. Thanks so much for your video. I'm excited.

    We should all be so lucky to have such a "failure." Thanks for taking me along and re-stoking my interest in the WWP15.

    Loos like a very cool adventure! I love those little Potters. I don't know much about EC but it seems like it's loads of fun.

    So at flamingo you have to porter your boat?

    • @spayment
      @spayment  4 года назад +1

      If you route though the Everglades, you have to portage a few hundred yard across a parking lot to the Florida Bay. Most larger craft, sailboats, etc., chose to route outside of the 'glades around Cape Sable to Flamingo. The "inside" route is more sheltered, but limited by the portage. The "outside" route is more exposed, with more hazardous wind/weather, but provides more sea room and avoids the portage. Each has it's advantages depending on your craft, weather, experience, etc.
