Fishing remote and finding Giant White Musselcrackers: The day I beat Franna Fishing :P

- A day for the history books, ladies and gents. Although this wasn't a dedicated filming trip, I had to turn it into an episode because it turned out to be the best day fishing I've had in a long time. After some problematic scratching from the rocks, I found a pocket of white musselcrackers in a frenzy and with it came a new personal best of 15 kg!!

Once you've learnt how slowly these fish grow, and how old they get, it gets scary when you start catching them like this. You soon realise that with the wrong intention we can take hundreds and thousands of years out of SAs fishery.

Franna .. that old saying "fool me once.." trust me, you gunna get taken plenty more times my guy. The fairer sex are very very good at getting their way, by hook or by crook.
No matter, sometimes we let them think they got us, or maybe they let us think we let them think we got them.. you see whats happening here.. a veteran of over 20 years here and I'm still getting "that long stick".
Missing SA so much and these vids, although they make me sad, afford me the ability to fish vicariously though two wonderful humans.
I missed the opportunity to go on a trip with you guys before we left 2 months ago, hopefully I can make it happen when I visit SA some time in the future.

I agree with your assessment at the end - if only people would C & R (not only trophy fish) more often / use single hooks in stead of treble hooks (injuries etc), we would already be contributing substantially to our & our children & grandchildren's future enjoyment of our planet!

Depends on how foul the area is and how far you need to cast. In this episode we used 120 lb braid leader, with 0.77 nylon leader and a 7/O
