Nate Smith does the same thing on drums with the timing and rhythm. You think you got a hold of his tempo, but that's just him luring you into a false sense of security and then WHOOSH!!!!!!..........he crosses you up and dunks on you rhythmically. Try Dave Holland quartet - song Full Circle from the album Critical Mass. Nate pushed this along turning a jazz quintet into a high speed bulldozer. Friggin beautiful.
