      I certainly agree with you he is a great one if not one of the greats from our generation. My vote however would go to Antonio Sanchez. But close...and I like they have totally different styles. Listen to both play with Metheney.

      one of them for sure theres marcus gilmore bill stewart brain blade antonio sanchez ari hoenig mark guliana theres so much more we are lucky to have so many great players to look up to and study

    Nice use of dynamics. With Nate it's always a journey and his drums speak in many languages. One of the unique drummers of our generation. Love his style....a monster. Thanks for posting...great video!

    Not usually a fan of odd time signatures but Nate has converted me via his musicality within them

      No odd times on this set - you were hear odd tuplets on that last one. The main groove outlines a quintuplet.

      @@EmperorsNewWardrobe starts of in 6/8. Then after he puts down the sticks, he start back up in 4/4, and goes into a quintuplet swing feel toward the end.
